I recently made an Instagram post about how to get your partner on board with your business and it certainly seemed to resonate with a number of people out there. I thought it would be a good topic to talk about on the podcast today. As business owners, we live and breathe our businesses and they entwine into everything we do. It can be disheartening when friends and loved ones don’t quite have the same enthusiasm. In this episode, I share about how I navigated the journey of starting my own business and talking to my fiance about how I needed support. At the end of the day, the only person you need to believe in your business is you. In today’s episode I am lucky enough to be joined by the lovely Julia Green, a household name in the world of interior styling. She is one of the most published stylists in Australia over the last decade, having styled and written for numerous interior design magazines, including Inside Out, Real Living, and Home Beautiful. Julie has appeared multiple times on “The Block” TV show and spoken at events such as Life in Style and Grand Designs Live. As if all that wasn’t enough, she’s also the founder of a thriving interiors wholesale business “Greenhouse Interiors” where she represents more than 40 boutique artists to hundreds of retailers in Australia and New Zealand. Together we dive into the real, un-glossy side of business. She speaks candidly about the challenges, sacrifices, learning, and pressure involved with building and maintaining a successful business and well-known brand. Starting a business can be really daunting and scary, especially when it’s something you’re passionate about. What if it doesn’t work? What if I fail? What will that say about me? I’ve noticed that a lot of people are afraid of claiming their work as a business and refer to what they’re doing as just a hobby or a side hustle. But are they just afraid of putting themselves out there? In this episode, I talk about the importance of referring to your business as a business and how this sends a message to your clients, the people around you and to yourself. Are you holding yourself back by staying in the comfort zone of hobby land? It’s time to get honest about what you really want and start claiming it for yourself.     I recently had a client ask me how they could market themselves as an introvert.   As an Introvert myself I’ve faced this concern in the past but now know there really isn’t anything holding you back.
