Learn how Mike went from photography to firefighter to real estate investor. In this episode we share his unique journey into real estate in Maui.  A full time real estate investor from Maui, Hawaii, Mike and his wife Caroline built their portfolio on short term rentals, long term rentals and syndications while he worked as a firefighter in the islands. Once he achieved financial freedom, Mike left the fire department to pursue investing full time along with his passion as a landscape photographer. Mr. Neubauer takes the “quality over quantity” approach to investing. His short term rentals have been featured on HGTV and his property management services have awarded him a “Superhost” status since he was first eligible for the distinction. When the rest of Hawai’i shut down due to COVID, Mike’s units maintained a 73% occupancy for the year of 2020 compared to a state average of 32%. His ability to move quickly, adapt change and progressively position his units have helped him achieve a regular occupancy rate of nearly 95% across all his units this year. In 2021 Mr. Neubauer was honored by the Professional Photographer’s of America with an honorary Master of Photography distinction. He has written two award-winning books on photography and is just finishing up his 3rd to be published soon. Mike loves to travel, talk real estate, read, learn, play guitar and spend quality time with his wife and 6 year old son, Nico. Through a mixture of creative financing focus and pure dumb luck he was not only able to accomplish this closing on a triplex in Nov of 2021 but going on to purchase another 26 properties by the end of Nov 2022. He is a firm believer that there is no limit to your potential and the only thing between you and your dreams is yourself. When not doing real estate Loren spends time with his wife and four kids and loves to hike and spend time outside.
