Episode 97 - Pink Floyd Part 19, The Endless River
Episode 97 – Pink Floyd Part 19, The Endless River
Is The Endless River a critical completion of the Pink Floyd tale, a heartless and ill-considered money grab, a self-indulgent exercise in noodling or a heart-warming ode to a lost bandmate? Some could argue that it is all of these. The Palaver attempts to consider this most confounding album from as many angles as possible. The final analysis? We think it’s actually pretty good yet leaves us wondering what might have been...

Episode 96 - Pink Floyd Part 18, The Division Bell
Episode 96 – Pink Floyd Part 18, The Division Bell
The Palaver always surprises me. I thought this episode on The Division Bell would be a slam dunk of David Gilmour love. Not so fast friends. This album was not praised by acclimation and some interesting discussions occur around songs, topics and content. Still a lively and engaging discussion of this overall enjoyable album.

Episode 95 - Pink Floyd Part 17, A Momentary Lapse of Reason
Episode 95 – Pink Floyd Part 17, A Momentary Lapse of Reason
The Palaver turns a corner in the Pink Floyd catalog with A Momentary Lapse of Reason. With David Gilmour assuming control of the brand, the return of Richard Wright and, with the help of Bob Ezrin, embracing the technology of the 1980’s AMLOR represents a return to the form to the earlier, collaborative form of the band. Is it a dated snapshot or a timeless masterpiece? The answer lies somewhere in between but the overall positivity of this record is undeniable.

Episode 94 - Pink Floyd Part 16, The Final Cut
Episode 94 – Pink Floyd Part 16, The Final Cut
In this episode we tackle a most difficult album. The Final Cut suffers from a lack of group input yet is extremely poignant, eloquent and beautiful. Roger Waters was able to take leftovers from The Wall and craft it into a commentary on the state of things in the 1980’s. The Final Cut features very clear and graphic imagery, emotional melodies and unusual song / album structure. The absence of Richard Wright is, perhaps, most keenly felt. The Final Cut may not be the easiest Pink Floyd record to get your head around, but we at The Palaver feel that it on well worth the effort.
