Martin Compston
Bleary eyed after our big win, we welcomed our first AC12 guest, Steve Arnott.. better known as Martin Compston onto Table Manners. As Line of Duty’s biggest fan, mum was in her element serving up delicious lamb & pistachio and only slightly disappointed not to hear an Essex accent from our Scottish guest. We talk to Martin about his obsession with chicken wings, eating Chinese takeaway on Christmas Day, how living in Las Vegas compares to living in Glasgow & winning over his (now) wife via an Irish promise ring, a song and all at an 11am Happy Hour! His brand new ITV drama ‘Our House’ is on this week, every night at 9pm. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

James Nesbitt
And just like that, we are BACK! LIVE from my new kitchen, finally - Clapham, we’re out, New Cross, we’re in!And what better way to kick off the series than to spend a tequila- fuelled afternoon with today’s guest James Nesbitt (this may become a habit in this series, just call me José).Mum and I are huge fans of James, so we’re thrilled to finally have him join us for Jamie oliver’s trusted pulled chilli brisket, a ‘moist’ clementine cake and a good old chin wag.We talk about sea swimming, bacon pasta, what makes the best fry up, the secret behind James’ mash potato, growing up in Northern Ireland & not getting food in your eyebrows!! What a delight this was. If you haven’t already, make sure you watch James’ latest series ‘Stay Close’ on Netflix - well worth a watch!Raise your tequila shots to another fabulous series! Rob Brydon
What a belter of a guest for our series finale! The wonderful, charming and funny Rob Brydon came to see us midway through his huge UK tour; he popped over to mum’s for some spatchcock chicken, pecan pie (we recorded this episode on thanksgiving), a right old gossip and sing song. We spoke about Rob growing up in Wales, eating his grandma’s custard tarts, his comedy heroes, favourite food spots in London, ‘The Trip’, ‘mucus’ topping ‘moist’ as the worst word & life with 5 children! We end the episode with the biggest sing song we’ve ever had; mum’s favourite way to spend an evening. Thank you to all our listeners for a brilliant year, here’s to a 2022 filled with more guests, more sing songs, more food, more chaos and more of Lennie’s one liners! X Hosted on Acast. Claudia Roden
This is a huge huge deal. We have the living legend, the queen of the cookbook, Claudia Roden, join us on Table Manners this week. Much to mum’s delight (and instruction), Claudia provided the dish! She bought a delicious fish soup and mum made Claudia’s light as a feather yogurt cake for pud. Claudia talks to us about her latest book ‘Med’ for which she traveled around France, Spain and Italy to collect recipes. She tells about growing up in Egypt and then moving to London (via Paris) and making it her absolute mission to record and preserve traditional Jewish recipes. And we discover that ten years ago I ate Claudia's daughters ice lollies in New York! What a small and delicious world.Thank you for such a special and inspiring evening, listening to you talk not only was an incredible lesson, but you managed to stop mum and I having a tiff too. Claudia, we adore you. X Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Author, journalist, presenter & host of the hugely successful HOW TO FAIL podcast, Elizabeth talks to us about growing up in Northern Ireland, her love of potato cakes, eating Buddha bowls on repeat, being a cheese fanatic & falling in love. Elizabeth’s latest novel ‘Magpie’ is heading for the big screen and we can’t wait! The literary thriller became an instant Sunday Times bestseller and is well worth a read.Elizabeth, you’re always welcome back for more wine, we loved having you! It really was a gorgeous evening.
