Edufuturists

Joining us on this episode of the Edufuturists podcast is Samantha Cohen. Samantha leads the Amercian University School of Education's doctoral studies in Washington DC. She is responsible for launching the inaugural, practitioner based program in education leadership and policy. Samantha started her career as a first grade teacher in Atlanta, working with students and families to build partnerships and future pathways.

Our guest today is Erica Tuke is an Engineering Design teacher and Instructional Coach at Highland Park High School, in Chicago. Since Erica started teaching eight years ago, she has been exploring project-based learning, EdTech, and ways to make student curiosity the center of her lesson designs. After falling in love with the design thinking process a few years ago, Erica has fully adopted this model in her teaching approach. In addition to design thinking, Erica is passionate about equity in education spaces (especially STEM), authentic assessment, and helping teachers reach their fullest potential through coaching.

Kellie is a teacher and Digital Learning Leader at Broughton Primary School. Kellie is passionate about enhancing teaching and learning by embedding digital technology in the classroom. She has recently returned to the classroom after a secondment as Regional Digital Leader for North Wales.

Joining us again on the podcast today is Jamie Smith, who is joint with Paddy McGrath as our most capped guest. Jamie is a good friend of the Edufuturists and spoke at our Summit in July this year. Jamie is Executive Chairman at C-Learning as well as a serial investor and entrepreneur.

Joining us on the podcast today is Drew Povey. At the age of 32 Drew became one of the youngest ever headteachers in the UK, when he became the head at Harrop Fold School in Salford. In 2017, Harrop Fold School became the focus of the Channel 4 TV show ‘Educating Manchester’, which documented the day to day life of the school.

Joining us on the podcast is Professor Damian Hughes. Damian is a world-renowned keynote speaker who combines his practical and academic background within sport, organisation and change psychology to work as a trusted adviser to the business, education and sporting elite, specialising in the creation of high performing cultures. He has delivered training to and advised the whose who of business, education and sport, working with the likes of Sale Sharks, Warrington Wolves, West Bromwich Albion and the Great Britain Rugby League team.

Joining us today is Patrick McGrath. Paddy is a great friend of the Edufuturists podcast, and has now appeared on more episodes than any other guest. As well as joining us on the show Paddy also led a workshop at the Edufuturists summit this summer and presented one of our awards on behalf of texthelp, the organisation he works for.

We are joined on the podcast today by Zaitoon Bukhari, who works not far away from me at Witton Park Academy in Blackburn. Zaitoon went to the University of Huddersfield and specialised in Human Biology before going on and completing her teacher training at Bradford College.
