James is a Bespoke Programmes Leader at the University College London Institute of Education. He is also the Director of Rethinking Education.

We are grateful today to be joined by Rich Watts from The Army. We will be looking at a whole range of topics today and why the army is investing in education, especially in its future.
Rich is a qualified teacher with over 10 years’ experience in the classroom, he has an MA in Education from the University of Winchester. He has worked in several roles in schools, including Head of Faculty. Rich left the classroom in 2018 to head up the British Army Supporting Education (BASE) Programme. Since taking charge they have won Best Educational Programme at the 2020 Corporate Engagement Awards. And more recently won the Best Free Resource at the 2021 Teach Secondary Awards for their new LGBTQ+ Voices resource.

Edufuturists #150 - The Future of Teaching with Guy Claxton
We are delighted today to be joined by Professor Guy Claxton, Cognitive Scientist by training and writer of over 30 books on psychology and education, most recently a fascinating discussion on The Future of Teaching and the Myths that hold it back which John Hattie called ‘A timely tour de force’ and has a Foreword from Dylan William.
Many of you will have heard of Professor Claxton’s Learning Power Approach and will know that although he has officially retired, he is still Honorary Professor of Education at University of Bristol, Visiting Professor,at King's College London and Emeritus Professor, University of Winchester.
He has a 'double first' in Natural Sciences from Cambridge and a DPhil in Experimental Psychology from Oxford. He is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society, the Academy of Social Sciences, and the Royal Society of Arts. You can find out more about him and his work at guyclaxton.net

Jerry Ray is Chief Operations Officer of SecureAge Technology, he has more than 15 years of experience in process engineering, consulting and global finance in the U.S. and Asia Pacific Region. He received his technical education in Operations Research Engineering from Cornell University, and later supplemented that with Degrees in International Economics and Comparative Policy Analysis at the University of Florida and the University of California, San Diego.
He began his career as a Production Research Engineer at the Konica Corporation, then served as a Technical Solutions Advisor for a large Japanese Disney affiliate, and as a Process and Optimization Consultant in Amsterdam for a joint venture between the Japan Management Association Consultancy and the Ford Motor Company.
In the U.S., Jerry provided international business risk analysis while at SAIC and independently crafted Asian market entry strategies as a consultant to several U.S. IT security and related technology firms.

Conrad is the Business Learning & Technologies Manager at City of Wolverhampton College, where he ensures the college is using the latest technology and the digital up-skilling of all staff and students. He has over 20 years’ experience in further education and his passion lies in fostering collaborative practice, personal development and creative thinking.
Adam has been a lecturer in FE for the last 25 years. In more recent years, he has become a lecturer in Teacher Education and a Learning Innovator supporting staff in the use of technology and embedding 21st century learning skills. Next month he will have his Viva for his PhD in Sports Equality.
