A radical approach to marriage with Kaley and Nate Klemp

It is well documented that times of dramatic societal change, like the one we are in now, can either undo relationships or strengthen them. My guests this week are married couple Kaley and Nick Klemp and they found their relationship nearly undone to the point of break-up because of power struggles they were experiencing over trying to make things fair. So they decided to try a new approach which they call the 80/80 Marriage. The idea is that each person gives 80% as opposed to the traditional 50%, which is what they call radical generosity. It’s based on giving more than required. It’s not based on traditional gender roles or this idea of fairness. You may be thinking I am barely able to give 50%. How can you be suggesting we give more? I hear you on that and I do challenge them on that exact point. Their answer was fascinating. This is a model that rather than being based on what’s best for me, asks what’s best for us. Simple but quite radical if you think about what that might mean. I cannot wait to hear what you think about this idea. Would you be willing to give it a go? What difference do you think it might make in your marriage or any relationship? We talk about: - What is an 80/80 marriage? - Why the 50/50 marriage almost destroyed their marriage - How equality left them feeling resentful in the marriage - What is the 80/50 hangover - How has the Pandemic intersected with the 80/80 concept - What does radical generosity look like in a marriage - Letting go of the scorecard and transitioning beyond resentment - How to balance your professional pursuits - How their marriage feels today - Tools that make a difference As always, we continue the conversation over on Instagram, so come and join us there. Why your childhood still matters today with Stephanie Stahl

Welcome to this week’s episode. As you know if you are a regular listener to this podcast, what we experience in our childhood unconsciously shapes and determines our entire approach to life as adults. Once we know this, it gives us something very powerful. And that is choice. Once we have a choice to become aware of our unconscious belief patterns and where they come from in our childhood, then we can change them. I find that the most exciting thing in the world. Regardless of how you were parented or how your early experiences were you have the power to change how you show up in parenthood. And I believe that is whole, full of love, and infinite potential. And that is what this week’s episode is all about. It will show you how to connect to your childhood experiences if you want to enact change as an adult. If you are getting stuck it could be because of something that happened in your childhood. Stephanie Stahl is known as Germany’s psycho-therapist superstar. She is one of Germany's top psychologists and authors on how to confront your past, trauma, fear and shame and live more authentically. She has written 10 books. Her latest one, the Child in You, is brilliant. It’s been a multimillion best seller in Europe and it’s about to be released in the UK. I loved how practical the book is. Super simple yet transformational. I love this episode and hope you do too. We talk about: - What your inner child is - Why it is important and why you should care - How to connect with your childhood experiences - How the inner shadow child can manifest in adulthood FREEBIES! You will learn: - What it means to be an empath - How to know if you are one - Navigate the energy around you as a parent - How to reconnect with yourself - How to shift your whole experience of life with a mindset change - The Law of Assumption and how to use it to transform your day As you may already know, I’m very excited about our sponsor, Zendium toothpaste. She was named one of Oprah Winfrey's Super Soul 100, has a host of celebrity clients, a global following with her Mama Glow brand, two books, and is the co-founder of the popular Continuum Conference. Latham shares “If you think about what happens when the baby arrives here, they are born but the mother is also born. And it’s a rebirth for that person. Who she once was is no longer; she’s someone new.” I think this episode is a special one. It will help you all helicopter above the day to day challenges we are all facing right now and think about the bigger picture. It's a moving episode which I hope gives you a sense of peace and perspective. It certainly did for me. She shares about: - her mission to help women reclaim the birth experience - the difference between a calling and a passion - Latham's moving and beautiful hope for her legacy - what we can do about the black maternal health crisis - becoming a more divine version of ourselves - why it’s so important to envision how we want to experience giving birth - what's most important during and post-pregnancy - her hope for all mums DISCOUNT FOR THE MOTHERKIND COMMUNITY As you may already know, I’m very excited about our sponsor, Zendium toothpaste. Zendium toothpaste naturally strengthens your mouth’s natural defenses and reduces bad bacteria responsible for dental problems. Parents will be familiar with the battle to get their kids to brush their teeth, but did you know that kids have 3x more taste buds than adults? This makes them particularly sensitive to strong flavours and foaming agents, which can result in difficulties with brushing and too-short brushing times. You may also not have known but your child’s mouth also has its very own natural defences, made up of enzymes and proteins in saliva, that have the ability to protect them from dental problems.
