Q̳u̳o̳t̳e̳s̳ ̳F̳r̳o̳m̳ ̳T̳h̳e̳ ̳S̳h̳o̳w̳
B Earl:
“As a creative, as a writer, audition, as whatever you are, you know, look, the big thing comes down to do you have something to say and do we care, right?”
“I look at my 12-year-old, and I’m going, this is your world, it’s not mine.”
“We’re just so caught up in our own hubris and how awesome we are, and you have guys like Elon Musk who just say things to say things to disrupt them, and you’re just like, where are we right now as humans?”
“The one question we’re not getting into, and it’s called artificial intelligence, is: What is intelligence? What makes something intelligent?”
“We, as humans, have become the measure of intelligence. We’ve created these metrics, these numbers, and said, ‘This is what is smart, and then you’re all stupid.'”
“Nature has more for us to learn from than any of this other stuff. We think we’re brilliant because we created the internet, the atomic age.”
Corrales Cachola:
“There is no culture, there’s no community around AI, it’s just how can I get mine, and how can I be better than the next guy?”
“So AI comes along, and a lot of the decision-makers say, hey, we can basically replace you. Well, they’ve already replaced these people, they’re already using them, and I think that’s the unfair thing about AI.”
“That’s why I don’t like a lot of the AI implementation, even in the toolsets that we use, the SaaS tools that we see. It’s like, did I ask for this? No, no one asked for this, they just built it in, they baked it in.”

Quotes From The Show:
"We think that the best stories are going to come from this unleashing of creativity where community and fans can coalesce and interact with one another."
"It was a really incredible way for him to see just how rich the experience can be with creators when you tap into their fandom."
"You don't have any connection to the fans who actually consume that content because the streaming platforms own all of the connection to the fans themselves."
"So, we asked ourselves a question: How do you create a better system? A system that creates this connection with the fans and the community in a way in which fans and creators can enter into that system more seamlessly. It becomes more egalitarian in its approach where anybody can come in, contribute creative ideas to that production, and get ownership in that production as well."

#32 Please Don't Blow Everything Up - AI Ethics & The Future Of Civilization - With Reid Blackman, PHD
An ethical AI framework means the survival of the human species. Get it wrong, and we blow ourselves up.
But who will write the AI Ethical rulebook? Have we left it too late?
When the priority is humanity and culture and the threat of existential annihilation is real, the ethical guidelines governments and big tech put in place now will determine what happens in the future.
Do we have one shot at this?
What happens if we get it wrong?
Reid Blackman is the author of "Ethical Machines," creator and host of the AI ethics podcast “Ethical Machines,” and Founder and CEO of Virtue, a digital ethical risk consultancy.
Reid is an advisor to the Canadian government on their federal AI regulations, a founding member of EY’s AI Advisory Board, and a Senior Advisor to the Deloitte AI Institute.
He has advised and spoken on AI and ethics to AWS, US Bank, the FBI, NASA, and the World Economic Forum. His thought leadership has garnered attention from The Wall Street Journal, the BBC, and Forbes.
Finally, prior to founding Virtue, Reid was a professor of philosophy at Colgate University and UNC-Chapel Hill.

Quotes From Reid Blackman on AI and Ethics during the show:
“Think what your organization's ethical, reputational, regulatory and legal nightmares are. Define those ethical nightmares in a comprehensive way, and then systematically and comprehensively put in controls to stop them from happening.”
“There are lots of statements out there by lots of organizations, governments, non-profit, corporations that say, "Here's our ethical standards," and they're strikingly similar to each other. “We're for fairness, we're for transparency, we're for accountability, we're for non-discrimination, we're for respecting privacy.” They’re keywords.”
“Some people say “oh AI ethics, it's about social benefit and positive social impact. That's great, go do that, but that's not priority number one. Priority number one is "let's not blow everything up.”
“The thing that businesses need to understand is you don't have to cater to your bottom line, this is not about stifling innovation, it's about stifling really ethically bad innovation.”
“We already have a human rights framework that's internationally agreed upon. It's required of all organizations to do a human rights assessment for all the AI that they're creating throughout the AI lifecycle and to engage in robust risk mitigation, human rights violation mitigation strategies and tactics throughout that, and to document it and to be transparent about it with the relevant authorities.”
“It's about an ethical risk appetite that's compatible with business risk appetite and operational risk appetite.”
“The Continental philosophers can be more literary than analytical. And I think that the analytic approach to philosophy, which is the dominant approach in the top research institutions, lends itself just to the quick grasping of lots of concepts and how they relate to each other.”

Film3, Decentralized IP And Supernatural Storytelling
Zach Lona and Anthony Gibson are the minds behind Film3 IP HIDDEN ONES, a multimedia world of supernatural creatures and paranormal phenomena. Think Stranger Things, Twin Peaks or The X-Files.
In February 2021, Hidden Ones released Zach’s directorial debut He Who Lives In Hidden Lakes. It was the first feature film ever released as an #NFT.
Hidden Ones now has a full-fledged film franchise with an NFT ecosystem that gives token-gated access to Hidden Ones' podcasts, web series, comics, shorts, & more content
In their whitepaper Hidden Ones outline how they intend to fully decentralize their IP to NFT holders and become a legacy brand of the #web3 + AI era of entertainment. They aim to achieve this in two ways:
1. Providing broad audiences with fresh, unique, entertaining, and visionary supernatural myths in a robust new story world.
2. Providing creators with an open-source platform to elevate their work in this story world, cut through the noise, and bypass the gatekeepers of the legacy entertainment world
They walk the walk, to use a saying of our time
