The Gathering of Israel occurs on both sides of the veil. The Lord promised in the early beginnings of this last dispensation to His co laborers in the vineyard, "And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up" (D&C 84:88). That promise is being fulfilled in the lives of missionaries serving all over the world. Angels continuously watch over and protect this mighty army of the Lord's servants in many different ways, most often through ancestors. These miraculous occurrences whether seen or unseen have always been a part of the ministry. The stories related in this episode are just a few of the testimonies that are evidence that the Lord's watchful eye and protective hand move upon this work on both sides of the veil. Boyd K. Packer said, "“Should an angel converse with you, neither you nor he would be confined to corporeal sight or sound in order to communicate. For there is that spiritual process described by the Prophet Joseph by which pure intelligence can flow into our minds and by which we can know what we need to know without either the effort of study or the passage of time, because that is revelation.” In this episode we study the doctrines and principles surrounding spirit to spirit communications from the other side of the veil. Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost and therefore the pattern is the same for our loved ones who have passed to the Spirit World. What methods of communication can and will be used? Revelation and visions "are around us all the time...but we do not hear or see or experience (them) because we have not tuned our souls to the wave band on which the Holy Ghost is broadcasting," Bruce R. McConkie. The visions and experiences of great men and women in the gospel of Jesus Christ are available to all who seek and who also understand the laws by which they are communicated. If we will turn our studies to the language in which the Holy Spirit communicates we will find many answers we seek and revelatory experiences will unfold. Bruce R. McConkie, in this talk given in April 1971 at General Conference, outlines the steps and processes that are inherent in thinning the veil. Like a lot of latter day saints, Wendy Nelson, did not enjoy family history. In fact the operative word that she described when even thinking about doing genealogy was "guilt". That changed one day as she decided to pray about and for those who needed help on the other side of the veil. What followed that and many other prayers were many miracles and thinning of the veil experiences. In an article written for LDS Living magazine, on November 11, 2019, she describes in detail the angelic interventions that are inherent in the Gathering of Israel. Sister Nelson testifies and encourages all of us to seek after our ancestors and be prepared for the opening of the heavens that follows. To bring about the purposes of our Heavenly Father and Savior, angels have been sent from the very beginning to His children here upon the earth. In the early stages of the last dispensation, Joseph Smith was called upon to be the prophet of the restoration. Many doctrines, priesthood power, and other related instruction related to the restoring of the promises made to the ancient fathers were restored through angelic ministrations. Not just any set of angels, the ancient fathers themselves helped to restore this knowledge in the latter days. Adam, Peter, Paul, Moroni, and others were among the numerous visits to Joseph Smith in his lifetime, restoring the lost knowledge, and promises that would once again, unite the whole of our Heavenly Father's family.
