Poilievre demands SELF-DEFENCE laws for Canadians in their home + Smith WRECKS Edmonton School Board
On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice discusses Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s announcement over the weekend calling for Castle Law-type changes to the criminal code to allow Canadians to use force – including lethal force if necessary – to defend themselves from intruders and attackers.
Liberal Attorney General Sean Fraser clapped back at Poilievre and wrote on X:”‘This isn’t the Wild West. It’s Canada.”
As Candice points out – that didn’t age well, as the long weekend saw two gruesome examples of home invasion violence in Ontario, including the horrifying story of a man who was murdered in the middle of the night by intruders, right in front of his wife and small children.
Candice is joined by Erika Barootes, founding President of the United Conservative Party of Alberta and Department Head of Applied Politics and Public Affairs at MaKami College. They discuss how the Liberals created this public safety crisis and how Canadians need to be able to defend themselves and their homes.
Next, they discuss the latest from Alberta and Premier Danielle Smith’s sensible policy to remove sexual and pornographic materials from Alberta schools. In response, the Edmonton Public School Board removed from than 200 books from its libraries – including classic novels that are in no way problematic.
Smith responded by eviscerating the school board and calling out their attempt at “vicious compliance.”

When unions stop representing workers (ft. Brian Lilley)
On this Labour Day episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, guest host Kris Sims pulls back the curtain on the noisy rhetoric that dominates this holiday. While union bosses lead parades and issue warnings that government services will be “cut to the bone,” Canadians deserve to hear the truth about who really represents workers.
Kris explains the key difference between trade unions—the carpenters, boilermakers, and plumbers who work with their hands—and government unions like PSAC, which represent bureaucrats inside Ottawa. Trade unions fight for the people who build and fix things. Government unions fight for bigger bureaucracies, higher taxes, and more members on the payroll.
Canadians are already paying a steep price. According to calculations highlighted by the Fraser Institute, the average worker loses more than 40 percent of their paycheque to taxes. That means less money for families to buy food, pay rent, or save for the future—while Ottawa keeps growing larger. Since 2015, the federal bureaucracy has ballooned by nearly 100,000 positions, yet services like passports and immigration processing have only gotten worse.
Joining Kris is Brian Lilley, political columnist at the Toronto Sun and host of the Full Comment podcast. Brian has spent decades covering politics in Ottawa and Queen’s Park. He explains why skilled trades are shifting away from the NDP and toward the Conservatives, what’s really going on with Mark Carney’s so-called budget “cuts,” and how government departments use scare tactics—threatening to close libraries, parks, or even the RCMP Musical Ride—to block meaningful restraint.
The two also discuss how the CBC continues to dodge accountability—refusing to disclose how much taxpayer money is spent on advertising, and hiding how many Canadians actually subscribe to its Gem streaming app. Brian shares his insights on why CBC stonewalls access-to-information requests and how its management culture differs from standard newsrooms. BREAKING: CBC hires Temporary Foreign Workers for media, business and tech jobs in Ontario
On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice shares documents that Juno News has uncovered showing that CBC has hired at least 20 temporary foreign workers in their Ontario offices.
As Candice reports, the CBC has used Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIA) to claim they cannot find Canadian workers to fill these positions. The CBC, since 2015, has filed at least 20 of these in Ontario, including for positions they deem “high wage.”
CBC claims to represent Canadian culture while taking $1.4B annually from the taxpayer, and yet, they prioritize hiring foreigners over Canadians.
Later in the show, Candice is joined by Juno News host Alexander Brown to discuss the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) and how it has led to record youth unemployment. They discuss Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s comments yesterday in PEI condemning the Liberal management of the TFWP and his prediction that the numbers will continue to rise despite Liberal promises to cap the program.
They also discuss Conservative Immigration Critic Michelle Rempel Garner’s work exposing LMIA and TFWP scams.
Next, they discuss a new lawsuit against the CBC over its unwillingness to disclose subscription numbers for their lacklustre streaming service Gem. The CBC takes taxpayer money, then turns around and charges a premium to watch its programming, and on top of that, they’re using even more taxpayer resources to go to court to block an access to information request and defend their lack of transparency. Typical CBC.

NO SETTLERS: How Canada is setting up an apartheid system
On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice talks about how progressive virtue signalling and performative wokeism are destroying our country. In British Columbia, woke activists, academics and the NDP government officials routinely use terms like: settlers, colonizers and “uninvited guests” to describe Canadians. So it’s no surprise that some First Nations are taking this literally.
A beautiful provincial park just north of Whistler will close for the third time this year to “settlers” and only verified First Nations members can enter.
Yes, in Canada in 2025, your race and bloodline determine where you can and cannot go. This is what apartheid looks like.
Candice is joined by political thinker Caroline Elliot, who holds a PhD in political thought and works as a Senior Fellow with the Aristotle Foundation for Public Policy. Caroline argues that Canada is heading in a dark direction.
They discuss the distorted coverage by the legacy media – who hand wave and justify these race-based closures – and talk about the real implications of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and its accompanying legislation in British Columbia.
Finally, they discuss the uncomfortable details of the recent B.C. Supreme Court ruling that gave 800 acres of private and public property to a First Nation tribe. In the written evidence, we learned how the Cowichan First Nation was able to obtain that land – through extreme acts of violence and barbaric force.
So why does their historic use of force give them the right to the land, but early French and English explorers who conquered and developed Canada are seen as illegitimate?
Next, Candice speaks to Alberta lawyer Ricky Bagga about proposed changes to Alberta’s insurance laws that he argues strips away rights and imposes a top down model onto Albertans. MALCOLM: Elbows up was ALWAYS a lie
On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice discusses Prime Minister Mark Carney’s announcement that he will drop all retaliatory tariffs against the Americans. In other worlds, Elbows Down!
Candice brings receipts and shows the many times that Carney said the exact opposite – during the Liberal leadership race and repeatedly throughout the election campaign.
But here’s the thing about “Elbows Up” – it was always a lie. It was created as a partisan Liberal campaign slogan to revive their dying party.
The government media pretended “Elbows Up” was a universal Canadian grassroots movement of patriotism and unity – but it wasn’t. It was always partisan. And it was always a lie.
The reality is that Carney’s plan all along was to cave. Juno News reported this back in March – that Eurasia Group President Ian Bremmer told insiders that Carney would “quietly cave” to the Americans after the campaign.
And that’s exactly what happened.
Later in the episode, Candice is joined by National Telegraph’s Wyatt Claypool and they discuss how the Liberals have already broken their promises on immigration, and a new poll showing Poilievre back on top.

What will Carney do when Parliament returns?
On today’s episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, guest host Kris Sims takes a hard look at Ottawa’s waste and overspending — and what Canadians can expect when Parliament returns.
Since 2016, the federal government has added 99,000 bureaucrats, driving costs up by 77%. Yet half of Canadians say federal services have gotten worse. At the same time, nearly 40% of federal bureaucrats now collect six-figure salaries.
The examples of waste are endless, from bizarre arts grants and DEI projects to billions shipped overseas, all while working families struggle to afford basics.
Kris is joined by Canadian Taxpayers Federation federal director Franco Terrazzano to dig into the numbers. Together, they highlight how ordinary Canadians are paying more while getting less in return.
Franco predicts that the fall session will bring major fights over Carney’s hidden industrial carbon tax, the costly electric vehicle mandate that kicks in next year, and a federal debt that has already soared past $1 trillion.
And despite these failures, Ottawa still finds room for bonuses. From ArriveCan to CMHC, government executives continue to reward themselves with millions — even when Canadians are falling behind and services are breaking down. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

How can we fix Canada’s failing healthcare system? Let’s look to Japan
On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice discusses the shocking state of Canada’s healthcare system.
Did you know that nearly 75,000 Canadians have died while waiting for care since 2018? More than 28,000 died in 2024 alone. This is not normal. Canada needs to get serious about reforms to our healthcare system.
Candice is joined by Colin Craig of SecondStreet.Org to discuss his new documentary Fixing Canada’s Health Care: Lessons from Japan.
Candice and Colin discuss the major differences between our two country’s universal healthcare systems, and how Japan rewards innovation and growth while Canada punishes and restricts those things.
Colin discusses new changes coming in Alberta that could make that province a leader in health reform, and they discuss how more and more Canadians want change and are open to innovations and changes to our healthcare model.
Candice discusses a recent poll that showed half of young Canadians wanted more private options in our healthcare system.

Carney doubles down on Trudeau-era gun grab
On today’s episode of The Candice Malcolm Show guest host Kris Sims dives into Ottawa’s gun confiscation plan.
The federal Liberals, with Prime Minister Mark Carney now at the helm, are moving ahead with a billion-dollar program to seize lawfully purchased firearms. Sims explains why this isn’t a “buyback” but outright confiscation of private property—punishing hunters, farmers, and sport shooters while doing nothing to target gang-related crime.
Joining the show is Rod Giltaca, CEO of the Canadian Coalition for Firearms Rights, who details the staggering costs, the devastating impact on firearms retailers, and how Ottawa has rejected even modest compromise proposals like grandfathering.
Also on the program, Toronto Police Association president Clayton Campbell breaks down why frontline officers oppose the scheme. Campbell points out that 90% of crime guns in Toronto come from illegal U.S. smuggling—not law-abiding gun owners—and warns that police resources will be wasted on paperwork instead of tackling gangs and keeping violent repeat offenders behind bars.
Kris highlights the lessons from the failed Long Gun Registry, which ballooned from $2 million to $2 billion, and asks why taxpayers should foot the bill for another boondoggle. Both guests stress that Canadians should be alarmed: this is a reckless assault on property rights, public safety, and common sense. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Poilievre CRUSHES byelection with 80% win
On today’s episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, guest host Kris Sims covers Pierre Poilievre’s landslide byelection win in Battle River–Crowfoot, where the Conservative leader secured more than 80% of the vote.
Kris urged Poilievre to oppose the ban on gas and diesel vehicles and to fight the industrial carbon tax.
Kris is joined by Christine Van Geyn, Litigation Director of the Canadian Constitution Foundation, to examine how Canadians’ freedoms are increasingly under attack in the name of “safety.” They discuss Nova Scotia’s sweeping forest closures and massive fines for simply walking in the woods — a policy the CCF is challenging in court — and how government overreach chills free expression.
Kris and Christine also highlight the disturbing trend of municipalities cancelling permits for Christian worship events. They point to the case of Sean Feucht, an American worship leader who has been coming to Canada for two decades without issue, suddenly finding his events targeted and shut down by local governments. Cities across the country have either pulled his permits or denied them outright, often citing vague safety concerns or labelling him too controversial.
Christine warns that this is a clear example of censorship-by-bureaucracy, where politicians and officials hide behind process to silence voices they don’t like. She stresses that freedom of religion and freedom of expression apply to all Canadians, and that governments should not be allowed to discriminate against speech or worship just because it may offend some people.
They also discuss Christine’s new children’s book, Maple’s Garden, which teaches kids about free expression and why it is the foundation of every other liberty we enjoy. As Christine explains, without the ability to speak freely and gather peacefully, Canadians lose the most powerful tool they have to hold government accountable. Learn more about your ad choices. EV Mandate Fails, CBC Cashes In
On today’s episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, guest host Kris Sims takes on two of the most pressing issues facing Canadians: the Carney Liberals’ unrealistic electric vehicle mandate and Ottawa’s stranglehold on Canada’s media.
A new Leger poll shows Canadians are rejecting the 2035 EV ban. Nearly 70% say it’s unrealistic, while 71% say the mandate should be rolled back. Even among Liberal voters, most oppose it. Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has warned the mandate would cost at least $300 billion in grid upgrades and charging stations, while destroying rural communities and wiping out Canada’s auto sector.
Kris is joined by Dan McTeague, President of Canadians for Affordable Energy and a former Liberal MP, to break down exactly why this policy is unaffordable, unworkable, and damaging to the auto industry. McTeague explains that quotas begin in January 2026 — just four months away — and will hammer car dealers with penalties while driving up prices for consumers.
Kris also exposes to the government’s media agenda, recently criticized by no less than the US State Department. The Online News Act was supposed to “save journalism,” but instead gutted independent outlets as Meta blocked Canadian news. Google cut a $100-million deal, yet most of the money flows to legacy outlets like the CBC, already swimming in $1.4 billion in taxpayer funding despite rock-bottom ratings.
The result: Canadians get less access to news and more government-funded propaganda, while everyday families brace for higher costs under a $300B EV fantasy. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
