Quantum Tech Pod Episode 76: Julien Camirand Lemyre, Nord Quantique CEO and Co-Founder

The latest Quantum Tech Pod with Julien Camirand Lemyre, CEO and Co-founder, Nord Quantique is live! Julian was born in a small town in Quebec called Sutton – a very beautiful environment where he got to a lot of stuff like skiing! He has a PhD in Experimental quantum computation from the University of Sherbrooke and conducted research on fabricating devices for improved quantum computing performance. Julian and his co-founder, Philippe St-Jean, met through their mutual interest in quantum computing and started Nord Quantique in 2020. The key differentiator of Nord Quantique's technology is their approach to quantum error correction using bosonic codes. They use superconducting circuits and leverage the intrinsic redundancy of photon states to create error-corrected qubits. This bosonic code approach allows them to correct errors at the individual qubit level, without needing many physical replicas of qubits. Nord Quantique is currently working with OTI Lumionics, a company that develops LEDs, to test new quantum computing applications for materials science. Julien believes that in 10 years we'll reach a point where fault tolerant quantum computers are sufficiently powerful to be used within an increasingly larger subset of industry processes. Quantum Tech Pod Episode 75: Algorithmiq CEO & Co-Founder, Sabrina Maniscalco

My latest Quantum Tech Pod with Sabrina Maniscalco – CEO and co-founder, Algorithmiq, is live! Sabrina grew up in a small town called Mazzara, in southwestern Sicily, facing Africa. Two years before she went to university, she got a telescope as a birthday present and started to observe the stars and read about how galaxies are formed. This is what started her passion for quantum physics! Sabrina has held research and post-doctoral positions in many places around the world including South Africa, Bulgaria, Vienna, Germany, and eventually Finland. She co-founded Algorithmic in 2020 while a professor of quantum information, computing and logic at the University of Helsinki– where she still teaches. Algorithmic is developing advanced quantum algorithms that run on near-term quantum devices to enable the discovery of new drugs and the development of new materials. Working with IBM Quantum and the Cleveland Clinic, they are creating a hybrid quantum and classical solution to help choose and optimize the properties of photosensitizers used in photodynamic therapy for curing cancer. A patient is administered a photosynthesizing drug which is not in an active form. Once absorbed by the cells, it is then activated locally by light irradiation. Worth noting that the World Economic Forum recently announced the selection of Algorithmic as one of this year's 100 companies that will be joining its technology pioneers initiative. Quantum Tech Pod Episode 74: Quantum AI with Enrique Lizaso Olmos, CEO Multiverse Computing

My latest Quantum Tech Pod with Enrique Lizaso Olmos, Founder and CEO of Multiverse Computing, is live! Enrique has a degree in mathematics, a PhD in biostatistics, an MD, and an MBA. He is also a former university professor, having taught engineering, mechatronics, statistics, finance, and marketing at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. For 22 years, Enrique was Deputy CEO at Unnim Bank and was actively involved in various startups across different verticals. Plus, he serves as VP and Treasurer of the Barcelona Flight School – he has a pilot’s license! In 2016, he read a piece in The Economist that stated quantum computing would essentially revolutionize everything. So, in 2019, he co-founded Multiverse Computing with three colleagues, and they started working on quantum for finance, a domain that he knew well. BBVA was one of their first clients – addressing portfolio optimization for the bank. They now also focus on Monte Carlo simulations, index tracking, ETFs, as well as pricing and value in large, complex derivatives. Today, they are the biggest quantum computing software company in the EU. Their purpose-built software platform, Singularity, lets users choose quantum-inspired solutions or pure quantum ones and works across the landscape of qubit modalities: superconducting, photonics, neutral atoms, ion traps, etc. In 2023, CB Insights named Multiverse Computing “one of the 100 most promising companies in AI in the world” based on their ability to efficiently compress an LLM Model in a sustainable way through tensorization, thus saving time and maintaining performance. Quantum Tech Pod Episode 73: Zhanet Zaharieva, Chief Operating Officer of Quantum Dice

My latest Quantum Tech Pod with Zhanet Zaharieva, Chief Operating Officer of Quantum Dice, is live! Zhanet earned a DPhil from the University of Oxford in Materials Science where she designed novel methods for the development of quantum dot technologies. As the result of creating a patent application from her doctoral research, Zhanet began considering how to translate her academic quantum research into real world applications. She strongly believes that sharing scientific discoveries with society is a key responsibility of scientists. The result? Quantum Dice! Her company is developing the world's fastest self-certifying and completely embedded quantum random number generator - QRNG. Founded in April 2020, Quantum Dice was spun out of the world's leading quantum optics group at the University of Oxford. As COO, she was involved in scaling the start-up from five founding members to a team of twenty in under two years. In addition, her external role involved business development for large enterprises including securing a commercial contract with HSBC for exploring QRNGs in Monte Carlo simulations. As a result of her work in the sector, she has recently been awarded Electronics Weekly's Electronics Entrepreneur of the Year. She hopes to use her platform to further promote STEM subjects among young women as they navigate their careers. Check out my fascinating conversation with Zhanet! #QRNG #quantumrandonnumbergenerator #quantumcomputing #quantumnetworking #WomenInQuantum Inside Quantum Technology
