Does it have to be All... or Nothing?
Thank you for supporting The ADHD Podcast on Patreon! — https://patreon.com/theadhdpodcast
If you’re living with ADHD you’ve probably done it — trapped yourself into all-or-nothing negotiations with the voices in your head. Not enough time to do it? Better not do it at all. Can’t be perfect the first time? Better not even try. Planning your day didn’t work for you? Better not plan anymore… too unreliable.
This sort of thinking can invade your worldview and before long, you can get stuck there. Today on the show, we talk all about the trouble of all-or-nothing thinking, and give you five strategies for overcoming it and becoming more aware at the same time!

How do you show up in your life?
Thank you for supporting The ADHD Podcast on Patreon! — https://patreon.com/theadhdpodcast
Inspiration comes from the most unlikely of places this week, yet sets the stage for an important conversation. Whether you’re living with ADHD or not, how often do you ask yourself how you show up in your life? Do you have a clear internal understanding for what it means that you are present? Do you stop to think about what you’re leaving behind? It’s these questions that build the foundation for our conversation today, but certainly not where it ends!

Inventing Value
Thank you for supporting The ADHD Podcast on Patreon! — https://patreon.com/theadhdpodcast
When living with ADHD, assigning value to things that we believe are important to us can be challenging. It’s easy to underestimate the emotional weight we’re giving to something we want, which can lead to clutter, disorganization, and expense, and of course this can lead to shame and stagnation. So it’s important to get a handle on our ability to rationally think through the value you ascribe to our efforts before it gets out of hand! This week on the show, we’re talking about invented value, the value we ascribe to things that is ultimately made up, but that defines our emotional approach to them all the same!

The Accidental Q&A Episode
Thank you for supporting The ADHD Podcast on Patreon! — https://patreon.com/theadhdpodcast
Today was supposed to be a Digital episode full of a discussion on the whims of our individual value systems around our processes. It was going to be great, trust us. But then we got all this great feedback from listeners and it all sort of stacked up on us. Before we knew it we were talking about a doctoral thesis in the UK, helping a partner better understand ADHD, the perils of working with the school system on a child’s diagnosis, learning to say “I don’t know,” and overcoming limiting beliefs that lead to more road trips and conquering bridge driving! These are great questions so we ended up devoting our entire conversation to it! Thanks to everyone for writing in, and look for that epic value episode coming soon!

Learning to Pivot around your Limiting Beliefs
Thank you for supporting The ADHD Podcast on Patreon! — https://patreon.com/theadhdpodcast
Today, we’re talking about the stories we tell ourselves to justify our feelings. Sometimes, they help us to rationalize our own place in the world. But most often, these stories cement in us the belief that the reason we can’t change — finish a project, move ahead at work, create fulfilling relationships — is somehow based in fact.
Surprise! It’s not based in fact at all. And today, we’re going to share a way of understanding our relationship with limiting beliefs … and move beyond them!

Digital — Surrender: A Tale of Technology Failure
Thank you for supporting The ADHD Podcast on Patreon! — https://patreon.com/theadhdpodcast
This week on the show, a story of technology failure. No, it’s not the story of some tool that doesn’t work for us. It’s not the story of some new digital planner that has a bug. It’s the story of the emotional and psychological challenge that comes when one of our trusted tools breaks, and our back-up support is not available.
First, it’s a story of technology. Second, it’s a story of ADHD and the continuous surprise it offers. Finally, it’s a story of irony. If this kind of failure can happen to us, it can happen to anyone!

Thank you for supporting The ADHD Podcast on Patreon! — https://patreon.com/theadhdpodcast
According to our guests today, over five million women go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, yet live with ADHD. While the patterns and outcomes of a life with ADHD between men and women are similar — particularly as they age — the underlying reasons and conditions for diagnosis for women are unique.
This week on the show, founders of ADHD Women’s Palooza, Terry Matlen and Linda Roggli, join us to share their experience working with adult women with ADHD. The Women’s Palooza pulls women together from around the world to serve as resources for one another; therapists, coaches, educators, and physicians. The event occurs online from February 6-11, 2017, registration available now!

Becoming a Parent with ADHD
Thank you for supporting The ADHD Podcast on Patreon! — https://patreon.com/theadhdpodcast
This week on the show, we take on a listener question from Liz. Her challenge: Overcoming the anxiety and fear that comes with getting married and becoming a new parent, and how to navigate these experiences in the face of living with ADHD. Changes in medication, hormones, not to mention the practical realities of learning to live with a spouse all contribute to this very natural fear. Today we offer strategies to move into this fear head-on, to face it, and to seek out the support you need to beat it with confidence.
