Navigating your thirties, with Emma Wilson
This week, I have the pleasure of chatting with Emma Wilson, the 1st and only Turning 30 Coach, about how to embrace this transformative decade without succumbing to societal pressures or being let down by the narratives we tell ourselves. During our conversation, we delve into common fears and anxieties about approaching 30, especially the struggles women face as they age. Whether it's the pressure to achieve relationship milestones or the looming threat of the 'biological clock,' Emma provides practical strategies to tackle these issues. Emma debunks the idea that success should be measured by a predetermined checklist or compared to others' achievements. Instead, she encourages crafting our own vision of success by aligning our passions and values. Whether it's in our careers, relationships, or personal pursuits, embracing our individuality is the key to genuine happiness. Regardless of whether you're approaching your 30s or already navigating through them, this is an episode not to miss! Episode highlights: Embracing non-traditional career paths and exploring new opportunities How to make informed financial decisions and work towards long-term goals, by critically assessing your wants versus needs. Finding growth and transformation in facing uncomfortable situations. If you’re thinking “Oh, I don’t know what to do” or “I’m too scared of failing to leave my job”… Just ask yourself; If you knew it would all work out in the end, what would you do next? Your 30's get to be whatever you want them to be, but it doesn't just happen to you, you can't just sit back and wait. You have to take control. What I've learned in 6 months of not buying clothing
I’m 6 months into my wardrobe freeze, and this episode I’m diving deep into the emotions, revelations, and insights that came from redefining my relationship with fashion and consumption. The initial excitement of novelty has worn off, and I’ve realised that the real challenge lies in finding creativity with the items I already have - and there have been moments when I just wanted to buy something new, especially when it comes to special occasions like weddings or birthdays! A major factor that has kept me going over the last 6 months has been the sense of lightness and mental clarity that comes from not constantly shopping. It's freeing not having to decide whether I should buy something, analyse my budget, or deal with the regret of returning items - don’t underestimate the amount of thought that can go into a clothing purchase! As I look towards the second half of this 12-month challenge, I've started to focus on what my wardrobe truly needs. It's not just about specific items, but also understanding the fabrics, cuts, and colours that make me feel amazing. I hope this episode leaves you feeling inspired to make more conscious wardrobe choices, and maybe even your own freeze! Episode highlights: How I’ve worked to stop that ‘scary number’ on my clothes tag limiting my style choices Unpacking fashion FOMO, and finding new outfits from items I already own A peek behind the curtain of the group wardrobe freeze challenge, and the benefits of sharing experiences, struggles and wins in a safe space “We’re conditioned to feel an emotional connection to the things that we’re buying and we inflate their value so that we can justify that purchase.” “It’s just been really interesting looking at who I’m buying for… it’s really hard to break the habitual process of buying for someone that you’re not.” Where to find The Broke Generation Website: https://thebrokegeneration.com/?v=518f4a738816 Instagram: https://instagram.com/the.brokegeneration TikTok: @the.brokegeneration Sign up to The Glue: the weekly money psychology and mindset newsletter www.thebrokegeneration.com/subscribe, where you’ll also get your free Financial Values workbook. How to stop pulling money out of your savings
How to stop pulling money out of your savings "Pulling Money out of our savings " is a common behaviour and brain thought among many of us. We are not all born financially savvy or natural savers.
