Why Lead?

The demands of leadership will eat up most of your time. And if a leader is not careful, these demands might eat up their whole life. That's why balance is important. Healthy home life will feed into your work life, and a healthy work-life will feed into your home life. But tragically, not all are afforded this much-needed opportunity. Because as I've come to learn, to African women, it's not a struggle of work-life balance, it is a struggle of work-work balance.

Chris says, "Not every 30 years old has leadership potential, but every newborn baby has leadership potential." He goes on to say, "Leadership is not for everyone" But if it for you. You need to listen to this episode.

Just do it has grown from a Nike marketing slogan to a motivation mantra used by many influencers to encourage others to be and do what they dream of becoming and doing. While Nike comes off as Yoda when they tell you to, “Just do it.” The phrase does not provide any context, yet somehow “exudes” age-long “wisdom”. As a result, it has been exploited and misused by many. But hopefully, for some of you, that ends today, because I have different advice for you. 

“When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion" (Dale Carnegie) And nothing stirs emotions like stories. The epitome of influence is found in accessing emotions in others. All this to say, as a leader, it is in your best interest to learn how to be a proficient storyteller.
