What To Do When The Subjective Assessment Does Not Make Sense

You were told at Uni that come the end of your subjective assessment you should know what is going on with your patient and have a firm hypothesis... Then you just use your objective assessment to confirm or deny this hypothesis. Sounds easy right? But in reality it rarely is as easy as that. The subjective assessment is the first thing you do for a very good reason. It is the most important thing you do, as everything you do after that, including your objective assessment, treatments and rehab is all dependant upon your subjective assessment. So do a poor job with the subjective and it makes everything you do after that so much more difficult. Listen to this week's podcast to here my biggest tips to smash your subjective assessment to help you find the right patient diagnosis and know exactly what you need to focus your attention on with your objective assessment, treatment and rehab. PS. In the podcast I mentioned my 'Rehab & Return To Performance' 1-day course. Find out more about it here PPS. I'd love to hear what you think of the podcast. Why You Should Assess Every Patient's Feet!

I do one thing with each and every patient I see that most therapists never think to do... I assess their feet! The test I do takes less than 20 seconds to do, and it is the second test I do, after assessing gait. As simple and as quick as this test might be, it can be like gold-dust and give you the information you need to make sense of what is going on with your patient... Identify movement compensations that you will need to fix... So you can find, and fix, both the site and source of your patients symptoms. Learn exactly how to do this simple 'foot scan' test to find the true cause of your patient's problem and stop just treating their symptoms! Enjoy the show! PS.
