Two strategies to get rid of the "shoulds" in your life

“Should” is one of the most problematic words when it comes to self-talk. I should go to the gym. I should accept this event invitation. I should call this friend and see how she's going, I should spend less time on social media.Shoulds are very, very unhelpful. They have the double whammy of making us feel guilty AND they don’t actually help us change our behaviour. So today I want to share with you two alternative words or phrases to replace the shoulds in your life.Visit amanthaimber.com/podcast for full show notes from all episodes. Get in touch at amantha@inventium.com.au If you are looking for more tips to improve the way you work, I write a short monthly newsletter that contains three cool things that I have discovered that help me work better, which range from interesting research findings through to gadgets I am loving. Why NYT journalist Kara Swisher has never had imposter syndrome

Kara Swisher is a no-nonsense journalist with a reputation as both the most feared and the most respected journalist to cover Silicon Valley. When she interviews the biggest names in tech, including Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Tesla’s Elon Musk, they’re usually visually nervous and on their toes. She's been covering the industry since the early 90s and knew many giants in the tech world when they were just starting up.  Kara is widely connected, well-read and always prepared for an interview. She knows just how to get what she wants out of her guests, and has never suffered from imposter syndrome.  She’s an opinion writer for the New York Times, podcast host of Sway and Pivot, and an editor-at-large for New York Media.  Visit amanthaimber.com/podcast for full show notes from all episodes. Get in touch at amantha@inventium.com.au If you are looking for more tips to improve the way you work, I write a short monthly newsletter that contains three cool things that I have discovered that help me work better, which range from interesting research findings through to gadgets I am loving. It’s time to challenge your rituals and routines

Are your routines still serving you? Maybe they were when you first made them, but are you still getting the same results as when you started?I’ve recently been revising my own rituals and routines in my day, week, and month. I’ve discovered that by mixing up some of my routines, such as my workout and weekly psychologist appointment, I’ve been more energised and productive. So I’m challenging you to take a look at your own routines and ask yourself if there’s a better way to achieve the outcomes you’re striving for. CREDITSProduced by InventiumHost: Amantha ImberSound Engineer: Martin Imber Visit amanthaimber.com/podcast for full show notes from all episodes. Get in touch at amantha@inventium.com.au If you are looking for more tips to improve the way you work, I write a short monthly newsletter that contains three cool things that I have discovered that help me work better, which range from interesting research findings through to gadgets I am loving. Can you become happier in your job simply by managing your time better? At Inventium, our Workday Reinvention Program is one of our most popular programs with clients. Why Booktopia’s CEO Tony Nash is excited when people resign

If you left your job, could your company go on without you? Booktopia’s CEO Tony Nash believes a company should be more robust than the people working for it. When someone walks into his office to resign, they don’t get the reaction they expect. Instead of alarm, Tony feels excitement when someone decides it’s time to move on.  Before starting Booktopia in 2004, Tony ran his own online recruitment company, Best People International, and still enjoys the process of recruitment, even from the top.  Despite running Australia’s largest online bookstore, Tony’s a confessed non-reader. He’s only recently been diagnosed with ADHD, which explains why he prefers audio books. It’s also made clear for him why his relationship with his executive assistant is so important - she keeps him organised and on track.  Connect with Tony - www.booktopia.com.au  Visit amanthaimber.com/podcast for full show notes from all episodes. Get in touch at amantha@inventium.com.au If you are looking for more tips to improve the way you work, I write a short monthly newsletter that contains three cool things that I have discovered that help me work better, which range from interesting research findings through to gadgets I am loving.
