Ep 34 of Wake Up is probably the most educational I've done to date, at least in relation to biological evolution, how humanity came to be, and where it may be headed if we're not careful.  Jean-François Gariépy, YouTuber, biologist and author of the revolutionary phenotype joins me to discuss his new book, alongside the biological evolution of humanity and life on earth. We look at his elegant theory of how DNA has become the dominant life form on earth, and his extremely sound challenge to Dawkin's and others claims that Memes are actually a "real" replicator life form. We also discuss: - Quantum Darwinism and how that may be the base state - What a Zombie apocalypse would look like, and why it would fail. There was soooo much more in here too, including: Definitions of: - Phenotype VS replicator - General VS revolutionary phenotypes - Genes - Memes - Tremes - Qenes - Cremes Why Not all Qenes are made equal Problems for revolutionary phenotypes - Forgetfulness - Naked Warrior Problem - Trickster printer & fool replicators How 1 & 2 are Both solved with the Replicator Tango, and if a draw emerges in #3, then it leads to problem #4.  In this model, we discover where Memes fail.  - Replicator tango’s are a form of delegation. - Memes work with problem 1 & 2 - Memes fail on #3. - This is because Memes are Fool replicators & fail if they compete with the trickster printers. Cancer is a great example.  JFG calls this the "Principle of mutational servitude". Our genes are the trickster printer for the fool replicators that are memes.  Problem 4: The printer replacement problem. DNA won this battle (clearly).  It's proven by: “The principle of everlasting fingerprints”  Adding layers to the genetic code. The upper layer encodes the lower layer. Each genetic code layer is the remnant or evidence of a prior phenotypic revolution. We also dig into the idea of Quantum Darwinism (fascinating stuff). The idea of proteins encoding quantum states.  Abiogenesis VS Proteins & Quantum Evolution Phenotypic Revolutions all the way down. We discuss the The Phenotypic Separation Theory of Sex - The origins of sex - The 2 step process of Meiosis, and how it emerged despite it's unlikelihood. - How through separation it somehow solved problem 1, but done away with problems 2 - 4. Toward the end we discuss the warning of the book, ie; "The End of DNA", and teh story of the Natural's VS the Chosen's. The Path to QNA I pose some challenges to JFG, ie; - Problems with genetic adjustment. - Could the geneticists just fuck themselves up more? - Is the complexity too great? Where does it lead? Quantum World?? -- Proteins — RNA — DNA -- ??? Lastly, we cap it off with discussions on: Where does the idea of “god” or the “divine” fit and the idea of humans being of the divine ? So are proteins created in the image of God? Rebuttal against the guys who think Darwinism & natural selection is mathematically impossible  What is Consciousness? Soooooo much to digest in this one. Ep 32 of Wake Up was an impromptu get together between myself, Zuby & Stephen Cole, which we put together at the random request of a listener of the Pod (I think it was Kiwi Hodl - shout out man!). You're gonna be like a kid in a fucking ice cream shop on this one. Chocolate meets Caramel meets Vanilla. Zuby, as many of you will know, is a Rapper, Author & Creative Entrepreneur who became twitter famous as he smashed the women's deadlift world record as a warm up, whilst he identified as a woman..hahahaha Stephen Cole is a friend of mine, early eBay tech genius, Bitcoiner, Angel Investor & all round one of the most genuine people I know. I’m joined by the hilarious, sharp and ever thought provoking Godfrey “Hang the Bastards” Bloom. He’s an Austrian-school Economist and Ex Fund manager, who spent 5yrs on the European parliamentary committee of economics. Poor guy had to deal with one of the world’s most ridiculous bureaucracies for that long !?!?!? Anyway. Lucky for England (in some capacity at least) they had someone like him in there batting for them. We discuss: - The modern state, and it’s supreme stupidity. - Medieval in the suppression of the people - How did we “somewhat” break that 1945 push for socialism? Or did we not? - Why Gold. - Exiting the monopoly on money - Gold VS Bitcoin - Customer & Service provider relationship / Subject & Overlord relationship - “Buy Gold and Kick a Central Banker in the Balls” - Could the state get desperate enough to go in & take that gold? I then put forward some points about Gold’s weaknesses: - Physicality makes it easy to confiscate, control & manipulate - Also hard to personally secure & use - Useless in a digital world - Gold losing it’s monetary premium & therefore losing its use as a wealth preservation tool. We also discussed how we need to protect ourselves in a world becoming increasingly draconian in nature. I posited that Bitcoin, being information is much harder to censor. Ep 27 is a no holds barred, raw, honest and "straight to the core of the issue" podcast which pierces right through all the bullshit. You know that when you've got myself, David & Francis on a podcast, you're going to get real talk - and no pussy footing around. The world has been drowning in increasing levels of stupidity, and whilst the number of people willing to speak up is growing, they're all being censored left, right & centre. In this podcast we cover the following: How the world is a disaster right now due to the renunciation fo responsibility, or in Francis's words; Ass covering & Plausible deniability. How Taleb succumbed to his theories and didn’t put them in practice. He took his skin out of the game Why Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged was an instruction manual, not a fictional story. How she was 100% accurate in the way she described the disillusionment of society. Why disputed Taleb's recent lunacy, his did accurately point out that people don’t actually care about inequality - they care when they know that the game is rigged. The problem is, the game IS rigged, and EVERYone is disillusioned, AND responsibility has been renounced. How the free market is being criminalised. Why the "public system" has perpetuated the removal of personal agency & responsibility  This is a killer podcast> I wouldn't be surprised if this episode gets deleted, but time will tell. Welcome !!! Episode 25 has been my favourite so far. @GiacomoZucco is by far one of the most consistent, intelligent and authentic people I've had the pleasure of not only learning from, but speaking to & meeting. This conversation touched on so many things which are relevant NOW, and for life in general. We covered Bitcoin of course, but also understanding those who do & don't understand Bitcoin with a very useful Venn-Diagram style heuristic that I think you will all find incredibly useful. We spoke about Giacomo's early days as a scientist, about complexity and about how that led to him being a Libertarian (in the congruent, traditional sense of the term) and later a Bitcoiner. We spoke about how the right AND the left are both idiots. We discussed Seasonality, the HOPF Cycle which many of you know, ie;  - Strong man create good times - Good times create weak men - Weak men create hard times - Hard times create strong men And how this theme consistently comes up throughout history, and what we can do (if anything) to either lengthen  or shorten the frequency of certain periods and perhaps minimise the amplitude also. We discussed the Memetic nature of ideas, and how modern warfare is memetic in nature because all out, overt violence is no longer as functional-a-tool as it used to be.
