3 Ways to Avoid Awkward Conversations with Systems
Have you ever heard the lines, "sorry, it's company policy" or "I don't know, let me transfer you to my manager"? If I'm being honest, as a business owner, whenever I hear these lines, there's a part of me that gets really jealous. I mean wouldn't it be nice if we could all just forward tricky emails and requests to our "manager"? Or tell those over-demanding clients, "Sorry, there's nothing I can do about that, it's company policy." As business owners, we get a lot of random requests and questions ranging from over-the-top exciting to excruciatingly uncomfortable. But I have some good news! You can create many different types of systems and automations in your business to eliminate a lot of those awkward situations virtually overnight! In this episode, I'm sharing three examples of systems that my coaching clients and I have used to avoid some really awkward situations.SHOW NOTES: https://jadeboyd.co/avoid-awkward-conversations-with-systems/LINKS MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE:Speaking QuestionnairePodcast Guest QuestionnaireThe Business Edit™ Coaching Program CONNECT WITH JADEWebsiteInstagramJoin My Email List LEVEL UP YOUR BUSINESS + PRODUCTIVITYOrganize your Business Digital CourseThe Business Edit Coaching ProgramFREE RESOURCESFREE Task Batching WorkbookFREE Weekly Review ChecklistThe Business Minimalist Blueprint WorkbookThe Business Minimalist Podcast ArchiveMentioned in this episode:Download the CEO Day ChecklistDownload the free CEO Day Checklist at https://www.jadeboyd.co/ceoday.

A Creative Business, Diagnosis, and Massive Shift with Colton Carr
At the end of your life, what will matter most to you? Most of us act like we'll live forever and have plenty of time to do and accomplish what we want to. But in reality, none of us know how much time we have left. We're not promised tomorrow, and when we live in that truth, our perspective of what's productive changes. This is why I'm so excited to share this interview with my friend (and podcast editor!), Colton Carr. After building a successful wedding videography business, Colton and his wife Mallory received an unexpected diagnosis that changed everything. When life hits you with something like this, you can't help but reassess what really matters. There is so much laughter in this interview, but there are also some tears. My hope is that this episode will point you back to what matters in your own life, while challenging and encouraging you to reconsider how you define productivity. My No Streaming September Productivity Challenge Recap
Have you ever tried to watch less TV? It's not easy to do! Unless you're one of those people who doesn't own a TV (which I'm seriously impressed by), it can be hard to strike the right balance between enjoying a good movie and distracting yourself from the things that matter most to you. As part of my year of less challenge, I did a "No Streaming September" challenge where we put some hard limits on our TV time in the Boyd household. Before starting this challenge, I had fallen into some pretty bad TV habits that I wasn't proud of this year. For example, we fell into the habit of eating dinner in front of the TV every night, and I would frequently wake up on weekends and immediately watch TV while waking up. In his book, the Ruthless Elimination of Hurry, John Mark Comer cited that the average American watches 1,642 hours of television each day. Now don't get me wrong, I love a good movie and will never swear off TV forever, but I also know that I don't want to spend nearly 2,000 hours watching someone else's story unfold while I'm neglecting my own. I was extremely surprised by what we discovered by going through this No Streaming September Challenge. It was impactful in so many ways and I'm really excited to share my tips, trials, and takeaways with you in this episode! If you're ready to set more intentional limits on TV time (without throwing it out the window) this episode will make getting started super simple for you. Press play to listen to the full episode! How to Measure Your Productivity
Have you ever felt like you were busy all day but accomplished absolutely nothing? Have you ever ended a day realizing you only crossed one thing off your to-do list but felt wildly accomplished? If you're focussed on becoming "more productive" it's important to understand how to measure your productivity. Otherwise, how will you know if you're making any progress?! The problem is that productivity can be difficult to measure - it's not so simple as how many tasks you cross off your list each day (wouldn't that be nice though?). On a global scale, we measure productivity by GDP (a country's total output). As a business owner, it can be tempting to fall in line - the more we make the more productive we are right? Yes and no. The United States may be #1 in GDP, but we're #15 in happiness. If you're hyper-focussed on improving the wrong metrics, it's easy to lose sight of what really matters. You could become super efficient and maybe even wildly "successful" without actually moving the needles that matter in your life and business. In this episode, I'm sharing a more well-rounded definition for what it really means to be productive as a modern woman in business as well as a simple formula for you to test out to measure your daily productivity. Press play to tune into the full episode, and change your definition of a "productive day" today! I Quit Dubsado: Here's What I'm Doing Instead
In this episode, I’m talking about a topic that a lot of you have requested from me. I shared earlier this year that I was thinking about switching from Dubsado to ClickUp to manage my entire client workflow. I got a lot of questions about how I came to that decision and what the transition has looked like for me. There are many reasons why I switched, so I’m dedicating a full podcast episode to why Dubsado ended up not being a good fit for me and how I'm managing my client workflow in ClickUp now. You may be surprised that I also added other software programs to my software stack to manage my workflow... but I'm getting ahead of myself. Before we jump in, I want to give a disclaimer that I still think Dubsado is a great software tool. Dubsado has continually improved their software, which is really important! I always look at a software's product roadmap before I sign up for it to see what their plan is for the future. I want to know what their development vision is to see if their business will grow alongside my business. While it wasn't a great choice for me based on how my business developed, it's still the number one business management software that I recommend to many of my clients who are creatives. So, don’t completely count Dubsado out yet! If you've realized that the software you chose to set up your client workflow isn't working for you and feel frustrated when things get glitchy, this episode might help you sort through some of the challenges you're having. If you have a coaching business or a service-based business, lean in close. This episode might open your eyes to some different options to consider. I'm really happy with the switch I made and it might be just want you’re looking for, too. There's so much I could say about ClickUp, but today I'm just going to talk about customer and client workflows, and what to consider when choosing your software stack to make your life easier and business more streamlined. By the way, if you haven't already heard, I do have a course for ClickUp - the Organize Your Business course. It goes through how I organize the entirety of my business within ClickUp - I’m talking goals and projects, all of my marketing channels, client work, course creation and course student management, all of my random admin tasks, etc. The course walks you through each of the folders with an example in the template, and gives you a behind-the-scenes look into how I use each and every folder in my own business to manage everything. Be sure to check it out linked below.
