145 - DOTB VS Day 2 - Work Smarter, Not Harder by Embracing Passive Streams of Income

SEND US A TEXT MESSAGE!!! Let Drs. Nii & Renee know what you think about the show! We’re on to Day 2 of the Docs Outside the Box Virtual Summit. Yesterday, we heard from Dr. Carmen Brown on how leaving the US to practice overseas both revitalized her career and her mental well- being. Today we’re shifting to creating wealth for yourself but not through your job. A lot of people who have detached from their 9 to 5 refer back to the book called Rich Dad, Poor Dad as the catalyst. This book was written by Robert Kiyosaki in 1997 and told the story of his 2 dads – his real father (poor dad) and the father of his best friend (rich dad) – and the ways both men shaped his thoughts on money and investing  My next guest, Dr. Peter Kim has been doing the same for some time now. He’s he runs the famous blog Passive Income MD, and Curbside Real Estate, which is a concierge service for physicians looking to buy real estate. He’s here to help me parse through a recent interview that real estate mogul Grant Cardone did on VladTV, which is a popular YouTube channel focused on the news in Hip Hop. In this video interview, Grant talked about his childhood, how he started in real estate and also how he quickly multiplied his holdings. It’s a very polarizing interview, look below for the embedded video to watch.   Embedded video:   Resources: The 10x Rule 4% Rule

Her episode is the highest downloaded episode for the podcast, and has been the spark that helped this show to gain traction with you all. Now a 10 year veteran of living in Australia / New Zealand, you’re going to hear more about the mindset hurdles she and her husband got past to live life on their own terms. Often times, we get caught up on “what I should do,” or “traditionally this,” but fail to realize those thoughts prevent us from finding true happiness. 138 – How owning real estate helps this physician couple live life on their own terms

SEND US A TEXT MESSAGE!!! Let Drs. Nii & Renee know what you think about the show! What’s up and good everyone, When the podcast first started, I spent time driving home the notion of being a good steward with your money. This included saving more than you spend, paying off student loan debt, and using index funds for passive investing.  The famous book by Robert Kiyosaki Rich Dad Poor Dad helped the masses change their mindset from trading time for dollars, and embracing real estate as a driver of wealth. You can count me in on that group. Dr Renee and I are beginning our journey into purchasing multi-family homes and renting them out to develop an alternative stream of income. We’ll keep you posted.  The book also sparked the success of my next guests - Dr. Leticia and Kenji. They have worked very hard to build up a  portfolio of rental properties that is now allowing them to live life and practice medicine on their own terms. Taking an entire year off to travel - no problem! Picking up clinical shifts when they want to, not because they have to - they got this! So they came on the show to talk about how they started this amazing journey and how you can also. This episode is jam-packed with information and inspiration!!  In the intro of this episode, you’ll hear about their amazing course to help you get started on your journey with real estate. It’s called Zero to Freedom Through CashFlowing Rentals and yours truly recommends it (Full disclaimer: I am an affiliate and when you sign up for the course, it does help the show to grow). The course is made up of 6 modules and takes place over a 3-week span. This course is full of active learning, has a great community to keep you accountable, PLUS you get 5 CME credits also for completing this course - BOOM!!
