82. Dr. Amelia Orta - How Do You Treatment Plan A Full Mouth Rehab?

This week our guest is Dr. Amelia or Amy Orta. She studied  Advanced Prosthodontic, with an emphasis on advanced training in minimally invasive dentistry, esthetic dentistry and complex full mouth rehabilitations using natural teeth and/or implants. Dr. Orta has received the The Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics Excellence in Prosthodontics Award, The Whip Mix Best of the Best in Prosthodontics Award, The Omicron Kappa Upsilon Most Outstanding Senior Comprehensive Care Case Award and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Dental Implant Student Award. I mean, she is one accomplished woman. Dr. Orta recently published a paper discussing a full mouth rehabilitation. In this ep, we’re going to learn how she comprehensively approached managing this case. This episode is going to be incredibly informative because it’s the first time I’ve invited a prosthodontist on to delve into treatment planning a full mouth rehab. Here’s some background on the case Dr. Orta will be presenting on. This patient is a 42 year old male with heavily restored teeth (several of which have poor margin adaptation), recurrent caries on several teeth, missing most of his molars, no history of perio, and loss of VDO. In effect, this patient is on track to be in dentures within the next decade or two if someone doesn’t intervene. In this episode you’re going to learn about the types of records gathered and the work that goes into treatment planning a case like this.
