Ep 442: Identifying Your Needle Movers When Everything Feels Important (best of the podcast)

When we’re following planning advice that doesn’t work for perfectionists, we struggle to know which tasks to prioritise. We have SO MANY ideas and we want to do them all, perfectly, right away. But we don’t trust ourselves to pick the right tasks to focus on or to do them consistently. We also don’t trust ourselves to handle the success, money and the attention that would follow… Because of this, we prioritise the familiar and easy tasks on our to-do list and lament the fact we don’t have more time to get to the important marketing tasks we know we need to do. But once you know how to identify your needle movers, busywork and procrasti-learning are naturally replaced with self-trust and ACTION. In this episode I’ll help you learn how to identify your needle movers when everything feels important. By the end of this episode, you’ll know which questions to ask yourself so identifying your needle movers is easy. You’ll also have a new way of thinking about needle movers so that you don’t feel so much pressure to pick the ‘perfect’ task or pressure to work on.  Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode442. In This Episode You’ll Learn: Why perfectionists find it so challenging to decide on their needle movers 4 questions to ask yourself to help you identify your needle movers A new way to think about needle movers so you feel less pressure to pick them perfectly How to tell when it’s time to start getting more strategic with your needle movers What my needle movers have looked like at different points in my business   Featured In The Episode: Free training: How To Plan Properly As A Perfectionist with Power Planning Join the waitlist for Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (PGSD) - samlaurabrown.com/pgsd Take the perfectionism quiz: samlaurabrown.com/quiz Sign up for daily Perfectionist Power-Ups - samlaurabrown.com/power Follow me on Instagram @perfectionismproject   Free Training: How To Plan Properly As A Perfectionist With Power Planning If you want to get shit done without burning out, I invite you to watch the free training I’ve created on how to plan properly as a perfectionist with Power Planning. Ep 441: Using Your Calendar As A Tool For Kindness So You Never Burn Out Again (best of the podcast)

As a perfectionist entrepreneur who wants to make a meaningful contribution to the world, the kindest thing you could possibly do for yourself is to honour your potential, rather than protect it. We perfectionists get in our own way because we’re scared to find out that our best isn’t ‘good enough’. We procrasti-work, overwhelm ourselves and burn ourselves out because we’re terrified that giving a full, balls-to-the-wall effort might come up short – and that we will end up finding out we’re unintelligent and unlovable. But when you’re planning properly as a perfectionist, you’ll naturally be using your calendar as a tool for kindness. Being kind to yourself as you plan is about doing the most important tasks in your business in a consistent, sustainable, productive and courageous way. Proper planning makes execution 10x easier and more effective – and dissolves resistance, overwhelm and procrastination. And if that isn’t a recipe for reaching your potential, I don’t know what is. In today’s epsiode I share practical tips and advice to help you be as kind as possible to yourself with your calendar (because true kindness will make you MORE productive and successful, not less). If you often feel the urge to rebel against your calendar and plans, this episode is for you. Listen in today. Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode441. In This Episode You’ll Learn: The difference between kindness and letting yourself do whatever you want Why being kind to yourself makes you more productive and successful, not less Practical ways to be kind to yourself with your calendar during your work hours Why being kind to yourself will automatically happen when you’re Power Planning   Featured In The Episode: Free training: How To Plan Properly As A Perfectionist with Power Planning Join the waitlist for Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (PGSD) - samlaurabrown.com/pgsd Take the perfectionism quiz: samlaurabrown.com/quiz Sign up for daily Perfectionist Power-Ups - samlaurabrown.com/power Follow me on Instagram @perfectionismproject   Free Training: How To Plan Properly As A Perfectionist With Power Planning If you want to get shit done without burning out, I invite you to watch the free training I’ve created on how to plan properly as a perfectionist with Power Planning. Ep 437: Changing Your Relationship With Instagram Marketing

It’s incredibly common for perfectionist entrepreneurs to struggle with showing up consistently - especially when it involves putting yourself and your ideas out into the world. To help, I’m sharing a snippet of a PGSD coaching call where I coached PGSDer Rachel on how to easily create consistent content. Every week inside Perfectionists Getting Shit Done there is a group coaching call where you can and watch other PGSDers get in depth coaching on the same planning, productivity and persistence problems that have been making you get in your own way in your business. And you’ll have the opportunity to get coached too! The weekly group coaching calls give you the opportunity to get the support you need to get out of your own way so you don’t stay stuck or fall off the wagon. In this PGSD coaching all Rachel shared “my biggest struggle with Instagram and social media is there’s often zero feedback and it’s harder to get in a growth mindset and practise when you put something out there and hear crickets. I also have a belief that Instagram controls everything and my control over the result is minimal.” Thank you Rachel for giving me permission to share this call on the podcast. In This Episode You’ll Learn: How to release your perfectionism handbrake so you can easily create consistent content What to do when you feel like the instagram algorithm is letting you down How to look at your data from a growth minded perspective How to finally get yourself to show up on social media the way you want to How to be in the growth mindset with social media so that you actually enjoy posting   Join the waitlist for Perfectionists Getting Shit Done My coaching program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD) will teach you how to plan properly as a perfectionist and get out of your own way. Ep 434: Your First Six Weeks Of Power Planning with Erin, Naomi and Estelle (best of the podcast)

Erin, Naomi and Estelle signed up for PGSD in January 2022. They knew that they needed to get out of their own way in their businesses. And they knew that planning properly as a perfectionist was the first step… Erin is a copywriter who was spending an embarrassing amount (those are her words!) on courses, coaches and marketing advice only to self-sabotage when it came time to pitch herself.  Naomi is a website designer and developer who was creating vague goals and plans (and endless to-do lists) to take her business full-time. Estelle is a fashion designer whose perfectionism handbrake was stopping her from following her launch plan and telling people about her designs. They all made the Three Month Commitment to Power Planning, set their Growth Goals and started planning properly. And what happened next was a little different for each of them… So I invited them on the podcast to talk about what to expect in your first 6 weeks of Power Planning. This episode is going to normalise what often happens when you start Power Planning so that you never mistakenly think you’re off track. Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode434. In This Episode You’ll Learn: The hidden planning mistakes that Erin, Naomi and Estelle were making before PGSD How they knew it was the right time to sign up for PGSD How Power Planning helps you to be a more present parent What to expect in your first six weeks of Power Planning (what’s normal and what isn’t) The difference between time blocking and Power Planning How to keep Power Planning when a big life event comes up (like surgery) Exactly how Power Planning helps you figure out your needle movers Why it’s ok if your Power Hour takes more than 60 minutes   Announcement: PGSD is open for enrollment until 12 December 2023 at 11:59pm New York Time My 12-month group coaching program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD) will teach you how to plan properly as a perfectionist and get out of your own way. Ep 433: Why I’ve Always Struggled To Post Consistently On Instagram

In this episode I’m sharing why I’ve always struggled to post consistently on instagram. What I want to share with you in this episode is some of the really specific and practical things I uncovered recently in my own self-coaching about why this is something I’ve struggled with since 2014. We perfectionists like to think if we just have more time or the perfect content calendar or a bigger audience then it’ll be easy to be consistent. But that’s simply not the case and what I share in this episode really illustrates what *really* causes us to get in our own way with social media. I’m also going to share the real reason why it’s so easy for me to be consistent with this podcast and the perfectionism that I’m continuing to work on even though it’s very successful. This episode is also going to give you a permission slip to trust yourself to build your business in the way you *actually* want. And an illustration of why showing up consistently doesn’t mean being perfect. If you’ve been struggling to post consistently to social media, no matter what you do, this episode is for you. Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode433. In This Episode You’ll Learn: Why you don’t have to completely overcome perfectionism to be successful How I’ve been able to build a 7 figure business without showing up perfectly The real reasons it’s so easy for me to publish consistently on the podcast Why I’ve always struggle to post consistently on instagram The importance of being in a growth mindset versus the fixed mindset   Featured In The Episode: Join the waitlist for Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (PGSD) - samlaurabrown.com/pgsd Take the perfectionism quiz: samlaurabrown.com/quiz Sign up for The Perfectionism Reset Event - samlaurabrown.com/reset Sign up for daily Perfectionist Power-Ups - samlaurabrown.com/power Follow me on Instagram @perfectionismproject Episode 432: The Hidden Connection Between Self-Image + Self-Sabotage Episode 247: Why I Have No Instagram Strategy For 2021 Episode 117: My Advice For Perfectionists On Live Streaming, Podcasting + Public Speaking   Work With Me: My program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD) teaches you my proven process for getting out of your own way in your business.
