When Fetuses, Babies, Children, and Other Loved Ones Die w/ Blyss Young, LM, CPM

The Episode was made possible by Immune Intel AHCC® & WeNatalBirthwork is a sacred calling. And as we accumulate life experience we can become more comfortable and present with birth, particularly when we begin to accumulate direct experience with the death of loved ones. Death and dying aren’t words that are typically used in a conversation about birth, but many women and their partners don’t experience as radical a confrontation with their own mortality outside of birth, which is a sacred rite of passage. Blyss Young is one of my closest mentors, and she was present for my first home birth, while I was in residency. Having gone through deep losses in succession in recent years, she was gracious enough to share her experiences with me in this very vulnerable and heart-opening conversation <3Visit the show notes for more.Connect with Blyss:WebsiteInstagramReference from the show:We don't "move on" from grief. The many uses of cannabis for women, from the reproductive years through menopause with Michelle Sexton, ND

The Episode was made possible by Immune Intel AHCC & WeNatalSince the 60s, cannabis has been deeply stigmatized, but my work as both an OBGYN and end-of-life doctor has helped me to appreciate the various therapeutic uses for “weed”. Fortunately for you, Dr. Sexton is an expert in the neurochemistry of this wildly misunderstood plant, unfortunately still very stigmatized. Chiropractors are doing more than OBGYNs for women’s rights in childbirth (with Elliot Berlin, DC)

The Episode was made possible by Immune Intel AHCCI met Dr. Berlin at a lunchtime presentation while I was an OBGYN resident. He screened his film “Heads Up: The Disappearing Art of Vaginal Breech Delivery”, and I was discouraged to realize that if I didn’t pursue training in vaginal breech maneuvers, I couldn’t call myself an expert in childbirth. Elliot’s advocacy set me off on a radical path, which ultimately resulted in my being able to offer vaginal breech birth to my birthing clients. I’m so grateful for his work that I should probably offer him my first-born child. Just sit back and enjoy this one. Elliot is a delight!Visit the show notes for more.Reference from the show:Learn vaginal breech skills! 2024 Born Free Twins-Breech Conference, August 8-11, 2023 in Louisville, KYElliott's streaming platform dedicated to all things pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting available at: Informed Pregnancy+ Watch Elliot's film “Heads Up” for free on Informed Pregnancy PlusConnect with Nathan:Instagram | YoutubeMidwife in need of collaboration?Want to consult with Nathan? My Online Courses:Born Free Method: Pregnancy and Postpartum SupportClear + Free: Your Holistic Solution to Persistent HPVThis episode was made possible by:Immune Intel AHCC® - code BELOVED10 for 10% offMedical Disclaimer: The Holistic OBGYN Podcast is an educational program. Mini-Sode: Mississippi's answer to the state's poor maternity statistics is to restrict the practice of midwives

Black birthing families will be hit hardest if midwives lose their autonomy to practice, particularly traditional or "classical" midwives, which often share lived experience with women of color. Seana Zelazo implores you to stop apologizing for your femininity

The Episode was made possible by Immune Intel AHCCSeana Zelazo is a clinical social worker and psychotherapist who speaks in archetypes. What’s an archetype? I'm glad you asked. According to Jung, an archetype is “a universal, inherited idea, pattern of thought, or image present in the collective unconscious of all human beings.” Seana’s book, “The Way of Inanna: A Heroine's Guide to Living Unapologetically”, focuses on the archetype of Inanna, one archetype of the Goddess. This conversation is a rollercoaster, and you’re going to be baffled by how casually Seana and I flow into all things related to femininity, vulvas, and the warrior Goddess. Pro tip: Episode 72 on this podcast is a perfect companion to “A Brief-ish History of Western Medicine, Witches, and Women Healers”.Visit the show notes for more.Connect with the guest:WebsiteInstagramReference from the show:Seana’s book: The Way of Inanna: A Heroine’s Guide to Living UnapologeticallyConnect with Nathan:Instagram | YoutubeMidwife in need of collaboration?Want to consult with Nathan? My Online Courses:Born Free Method: Pregnancy and Postpartum SupportClear + Free: Your Holistic Solution to Persistent HPVThis episode was made possible by:Immune Intel AHCC® - code BELOVED10 for 10% offMedical Disclaimer: The Holistic OBGYN Podcast is an educational program.
