Merry Christmas! Wait, is it a merry Christmas? After all, doesn't Christmas have a pagan origin? Is the idea of followers of Jesus celebrating Christmas really "merry" after all?  In this episode you'll learn a basic introduction to the history of where Christmas came from, what's really being celebrated, and why it's NOT a problem for Christians to observe this holiday. Just in time for the fruitcake. Christmas is a Christian holiday which in a sense has pagan origins, but which upon further investigation represents the Christian takeover and redemption of heathen celebrations, co-opting them and bringing them under the authority of Christ. Further, Christmas fulfills what the pagan holidays were longing for but could not provide, i.e. real peace, light and hope in a dark and hopeless world.
