What should you do with the #1 overall pick?
Andy Behrens is joined by The Action Network’s Chris Raybon to talk all things football and fantasy on this latest episode. Chris and Andy kick off things with a few rules for fantasy managers and sports betters alike considering this absolutely crazy year in which there will be no pre-season and less practice than previous summers. (1:55)The guys chat about a superflex draft they’re preparing for later in the day and go over some best practices with drafting QBs in those leagues where you starting two passers is necessary. Is it worth it to reach for a Lamar or a Mahomes, or should you focus on some mid-tier guys like Burrow, Jones, Wentz or Goff? (8:25)The topic of the number one overall pick comes to light and it might sound like a crazy question, but maybe it isn’t: is there any situation in which you should take Saquon over Christian McCaffrey at #1? (17:00)Houston WR Will Fuller sparks a strategy debate: is it worth it to go high-floor or for boom-or-bust candidates only after the sixth or seventh round? (21:50)Finally, the guys wrap up the show going to hot-take city and throw some dirt on a future hall of famer and a recent fantasy stud. Yes, Andy and Chris will tell you why Aaron Rodgers is washed and why Josh Allen is trash. 2020's Carnival Teams: Good Offenses and Bad Defenses
Welcome to the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Forecast! Yahoo’s Scott Pianowski and PFF’s Ian Hartitz are here to talk about finding this year’s carnival teams, the teams you can expect to put up a ton of points on offense and give up a ton of points on defense like the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers and more![Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today] New name, new artwork, new release schedule, same crew! We will be coming at you five days a week, Monday through Friday, until the regular season ends. Here’s the plan for August, all the Yahoo hosts you know like Liz Loza, Matt Harmon, Andy Behrens, Dalton Del Don and Scott Pianowski will be joined by guests around the fantasy football industry as we get you prepped for an unorthodox NFL season in 2020. We can’t guarantee you’ll win your league, but we’ll make sure you’ll stay entertained while becoming a smarter, more informed fantasy manager. The big news over the weekend was Matthew Stafford and Gardner Minshew being placed on the COVID-19 reserve list. How should coronavirus impact rankings this year? (02:00)Every year, a team like the 2019 Tampa Bay Buccaneers comes along, putting up massive point totals on offense while being a turnstile on defense, forcing teams to throw the ball to a narrow group of players to keep pace and ensuring fantasy gold for all involved.Who will be those carnival teams this year? Here are Scott Pianowski’s picks:Detroit Lions: The ball will be going to Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jr. early and often. Did you know Matthew Stafford was QB4 last year in points per game? (06:25)Atlanta Falcons: The Matt Ryan/Julio Jones connection has been around for a decade, but are there enough passes to go around for Calvin Ridley and newcomer Hayden Hurst? (13:15)Carolina Panthers: Consensus RB1 Christian McCaffrey is still a star, and while Teddy Bridgewater might not be peak Cam Newton, the improvement over Kyle Allen is good news for DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel. (20:30)Seattle Seahawks: Pete Carroll and co. rarely let Russell Wilson show off his arm and make plays on the ground, but in a division with San Francisco and Arizona, relying on Wilson, Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf might be the only way to keep up. (25:05)Jacksonville Jaguars: We know Gardner Minshew II’s DGAF play-style can lead to big games, but is there anyone other than DJ Chark that fantasy managers can depend on? (32:40)Miami Dolphins: Ryan Fitzpatrick will make way for Tua Tagovailoa at some point, but a massive second-half from DeVante Parker, a tight end primed for a breakout in Mike Gesicki and a returning Preston Williams who put up sneaky value last year could mean a lot of high scoring games. But where will new signee LeSean McCoy fit in? Our analysts discuss their fantasy outlooks. Keenan Allen gets SPICY
Welcome to the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Podcast! Matt Harmon and No. 1 Raheem Mostert fan, Dalton Del Don, are here to talk all things football and fantasy on this latest episode. Speaking of Mostert, it seems as though the running back will be staying in San Francisco, after reportedly reworking his contract with the team.Elsewhere across the NFL, the pandemic continues to cast a looming shadow around things, especially after news dropped of an outbreak in the Miami Marlins team. NFL teams have already begun to announce their positive tests as well. Players have begun to opt-out of the season as well, including a vast majority of star Patriots defenders. One of the biggest headline grabbers this week has been Keenan Allen just completely cutting loose on social media about his standing as a wide receiver. Matt and Dalton discuss his claims of being the best WR in the AFC West, not to mention better than Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Tyreek Hill. Please remember to rate, review, and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy. How often do top-scoring RB1s repeat their success?
Welcome to the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Podcast! Liz Loza is joined by Mauricio Gutierrez, the founder of Estadio Fantasy, which is the No.1 site for Fantasy Football analysis in Spanish, to talk all things football and fantasy on this latest episode.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today] Recently, Mauricio wrote about where the first pick fantasy drafts usually ends up at the end of the season — and the results aren’t pretty. In the last decade, only three RBs who were top picks ended up repeating as a top-5 RB, that was Arian Foster in 2012, Adrian Peterson in 2015 and Todd Gurley in 2018. None of those RBs repeated as RB1 the next year:
2010 - C. Johnson (RB7)
2011 - Peterson (RB15)
2012 - Foster (RB3)
2013 - Peterson (RB11)
2014 - McCoy (RB12)
2015 - Peterson (RB2)
2016 - A. Brown (WR1)
2017 - D. Johnson (injured)
2018 - Gurley (RB3)
2019 - S. Barkley (RB10)
Liz and Mauricio discuss this, along with Christian McCaffrey's chances to repeat as top fantasy running back, and whether we should that change our draft strategy/find a McCaffrey replacement at No. 1 overall.Liz and Mauricio continue their running back discussion with Mauricio’s take on Joe Mixon, along with their thoughts on a potentially resurgent David Johnson.Oh, and Antonio Brown un-retired from football again. No preseason, the Rams' RBBC and farewell, Antonio Brown?
Welcome to the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Podcast! Matt Harmon is joined by Yahoo Fantasy’s very own Scott Pianowski to talk all things football and fantasy on this latest episode.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today] After a lot of uneasy inactivities, the NFL and NFLPA have both agreed to no preseason games in 2020. In years past, the preseason was a great time for the fantasy community to ... OVERREACT. So now, what will we overreact to by the time Week 1 comes around? (2:30)Training camp has also been a big topic of discussion, and it’s already looking like it will be very different from seasons past.Elsewhere in the NFL, Sean McVay has stated that he envisions the Rams backfield to look a lot like the 49er one ... which is probably not great news for fantasy managers, especially when you consider that the Rams don’t have the system nor the offensive line in place that San Francisco does. (29:07) Matt and Scott discuss the repercussions of an RBBC in LA, and much more (including Antonio Brown’s apparent retirement — good news for Seahawks receivers?) (38:16)Please remember to rate, review, and subscribe on your podcast provider of choice and send us your questions for future episodes on Twitter @YahooFantasy. Talking draft strategy, targets and avoids with Jason from Fantasy Footballers
Welcome to the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Podcast! Liz Loza is joined by none other than Jason Moore of The Fantasy Footballers to talk all things football and fantasy on this latest episode.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today] Since Jason has nailed a top-10 accuracy score on FantasyPros ranking of experts for three straight years, we ask him how he's approaching his drafts in a COVID-19-impacted season and his guiding principles when it comes to draft day. (04:20)Next up, Liz and Jason discuss two sleeper wide receivers, one who should smash his ADP and another who might be held back by poor quarterback play. (14:08) Plus, Jason shares his thoughts on the ever-confusing Austin Ekeler (29:15)One of the biggest headlines of the week Liz and Jason discuss is Derrick Henry signing a big extension for 4 years, $50 million. It’s the kind of extension that disagrees with the notion of running backs being replaceable — is Derrick Henry’s deal the start of more? (36:37)Next up, Liz and Jason discuss a couple of names who are jumping out at them in drafts along with some players they’re avoiding. They also discuss the fantasy outlook of the Washington team, especially now that Kelvin Harmon suffered an ACL injury. Aside from Terry McLaurin, who else can we trust on this team? Is Antonio Gibson about to see his draft cost skyrocket? Rankings disagreements, A.J. Green, D'Andre Swift, and more
Welcome to the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Podcast! Liz Loza and Andy Behrens are here to talk all things football and fantasy on this latest episode.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today] Andy recently wrote a piece on rookie running back D’Andre Swift, making the bold claim that the former Georgia Bulldog is about to end the fantasy woes of Detroit Lions running backs — do we believe it? (18:40)Then, our analysts talk about the next subject in Liz’s Rust vs. Rest series, A.J. Green, and whether he’ll make an impact this season on the revamped, Joe Burrow-led Cincinnati Bengals. (30:15)Next up, the analysts discuss some disagreements they have in their fantasy rankings, including Liz having Dalvin Cook ranked ninth among RBs and whether Keenan Allen or DJ Chark is worth a pick as your WR2. Raheem Mostert wants out, Tom Brady's outlook with Bruce Arians, and much more
Welcome to the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Podcast! Matt Harmon is joined by 4for4.com’s Director of DFS TJ Hernandez to talk all things football and fantasy on this latest episode.[Create or join a 2020 Yahoo Fantasy Football League for free today] First up, Matt and TJ discuss some of TJ's work in the offseason, including his breakdown of what wide receiver stats matter from year to year. (01:50)breaking news in the NFL world. In a bit of a surprising move, it was reported that Raheem Mostert requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers. After seemingly looking like the clear workhorse following the Matt Breida trade to the Dolphins (not to mention, Mostert’s awesome performances late last year), Mostert wants out. (11:19)Matt and TJ break down the situation, as well as the fantasy outlooks of Mostert if he does leave, and Tevin Coleman, who would seemingly be elevated in this backfield.Next up, the analysts discuss two of their more recent pieces: TJ’s story on how Josh Allen can be this year’s Lamar Jackson (20:00), and Matt’s piece on the workload awaiting Bruce Arians now that Tom Brady is his starting QB. (33:34)Matt and TJ wrap up with one thing they’ve changed their minds about from last week.
