Chris Brown, Founder of Contract Canvas with Katia Alcantar - LegalTechLIVE - 080
Contract Canvas is the easy way for creative professionals to create and e-sign client agreements. This platform for creative professionals, makes contract language, humans can read. Create, preview, e-sign, and save. That's all there is to it. Take a listen to this very refined pitch from #legaltech founder, Chris Brown. How does it work? Here are the steps outlined on the Contract Canvas website: 1. Tell them about your project: their user-guided contract wizard will ask you to provide the important details about your project–payment terms, termination rights, ownership of work product, and more. 2. Preview your contract: All Contract Canvas contracts include a summary designed for humans not lawyers and also a legal version designed for lawyers and judges. You can preview your contract, return to the wizard to make changes, and edit as much as you'd like. 3. Send your contract to your client: Next, click "Send to Client" and we'll email your client a secure link where they can access your contract online. 4. Client preview: Your client can securely review both the human summary and the legal terms on our platform. If they have questions or changes, they can email you directly. 5. Client e-signs: Once approved by your client, they can easily provide their e-signature using our platform (through an integration with HelloSign). 6. You e-sign: We'll let you know as soon as your client e-signs your contract. After they sign, you can e-sign too (again, using an integration with HelloSign). 7. We share the final contract: After you e-sign, we will save the final, fully-signed contract to your dashboard. We'll also send a PDF copy of the contract to both you and your client via email. Check out the episode. You'll see that Chris Brown knows his product inside and out. Also, a special thanks to Katia Alcantar for co-hosting this episode, her first, with Nick Rishwain. Dan Rubins of Legal Robot Returns to LegalTechLIVE - Episode 079
NickJRishwain 86 subscribers SUBSCRIBE Years ago, when LegalTechLIVE was just a fledgling little show, one of our earliest interviews was with a brand new startup, LegalRobot. Founder, Dan Rubins was probably in the first 10 episodes of the show back in late 2015. Unfortunately, as a we had transferred from multiple social platforms, we lost some of our early content. Every time I ran into Dan at events, I'd tell him to let me know when he wanted to return to the show and tell me about the advancements. Now, having been in #legaltech for more than 5 years, Dan has some outstanding knowledge and experience to share with other #founders. Additionally, although LegalRobot is presently a part-time gig, he's still working on some really fascinating analytical tools. Tools that are now helping investigative reporters make connections between politicians and money. Dan Rubins is a knowledgeable dude. I hope you'll take the time to listen to this interview. He knows a lot about legaltech and #accesstojustice. Oh, and I should say this was our first COVID-19 interview, recorded under stay-at-home order on March 19th, 2020. Drag and Drop LegalAI with Jason Morris of Blawx and Jason Velez - LegalTechLIVE - 078
In a new episode covering computational law, we're joined by Jason Morris, founder of Blawx. Blawx has been described as "user friendly rules as code on the web," and also described as "drag and drop legal AI." There is no software to install. Blawx can be used from wherever you have access to the web, and can power any tool that can access the web. Blawx has features specifically designed to make it easier to code complex, changing legal rules and regulations. It's so easy, anyone can learn how to encode legal knowledge in Blawx. Yes. Even lawyer. Founder Jason Morris compared Blawx for lawyers as similar to what Excel for accountants. For those of you concerned about how Excel impacted the business of accounting, you'll be happy to know it grew the profession. Now if we can use mathematical equations in the practice of law, and lawyers are capable of using these mathematical equations in practice... where might that take the practice of law? This episode is co-hosted by Jason Velez, in his first time in the co-host seat. Jason Velez is a California lawyer and legaltech founder as well. Contract Automation for Clients & Lawyers with Blaine Korte of Fidu and Ashley Pepitone - LegalTechLIVE - Episode 076
It's a contract automation and management system for your clients with your precedent, and the fastest way to deliver customized contracts. It's where your clients create, sign, and store the customized contracts and documents you provide them. With a standard document template sent to a client as a Word document, a lawyer is never quite sure what's happening to it: Are important paragraphs being cut out? Are they even using the document? Are the signed copies well organized or just stuffed in a drawer? With Fidu, never worry. Client documents are stored simply and safely, they're created in seconds, and signed copies are always accessible. This is the offering from Fidu, brought to you by the mind of Blaine Korte, a developer turned #legaltech entrepreneur. Is this something your firm needs? He's not attacking Biglaw at this time. He's focused on the small and medium sized firms. Their website design is very clean and gets right to the point with visible pricing. Making her first appearance as co-host this week, we have Ashley Pepitone, Esq. from JurisBytes (winner of the 2019 #ABATECHSHOW #startup alley). Human Readable Smart Contract Programming with Carla & Henning of Lexon.Tech - LegalTechLIVE - Episode 075
Lexon is a new type of program language that anyone can read. Programs used to be behind an hermetic wall. Most of us had to trust other people to create, validate, interpret and maintain programs for us. Not any more. Lexon is the next generation of program language: human readable like natural language. Lexon can be used to describe agreements and business logic. It was designed to make the code of blockchain smart contracts readable for non-programmers. Lexon merges law and automation. The legal and the program text are ONE. In this episode, we are joined by Lexon.Tech developer Henning Diedrich and Professor Carla Reyes, as they explain to us the uses for their human-readable natural language programming option that can be used to create Blockchain-based smartcontracts. One of the ways I explain the technology is that it is a WYSWIG editor for Blockchain programming in Sophia and Solidity programming languages. But it is so much more powerful if those reading the contracts can see what they say in real time. This episode is outside of our normal legaltech startup interviews. This is more in line with our efforts to continue our interviews in computational law.

Collaborative Content Management Platform InstantAttorney with Everett Pompeii and Erin Levine - LegalTechLIVE - Episode 074
Instant Attorney grew out of our founder's frustration trying to track down all of the innovative legal solutions being developed for consumers and small and medium-sized businesses. There were already thousands of Price Forward legal solutions out there. Yet there wasn't a marketplace for clients to find, compare, and review them. Instant Attorney solves the problem of identify and compiling the myriad of legal apps, books, forms, and services that emerge nearly daily by creating a wiki-powered platform that can be updated by Partners and searched by users so they can find a product or service best suited for their legal needs. Some of the resources listed are paid and some of the resources listed are free, but every resource that meets our quality standards can be listed on Instant Attorney free of charge. Founder, Everett Pompeii, a software engineer by day and legaltech founder by night and weekend, approached Nick Rishwain at the Legal Services Corporation, Innovations and Technology Conference, wearing his company colors. That was all it took for Nick to invite him on the show. The neon-orange hoodie definitely stood out at the conference. Listen to this episode and get a feeling for what Everett thought was missing in the access to justice space and the problem he's decided to solve with his collaborative content management system (CMS). Nick is joined by first time co-host, and good friend, Erin Levine of Hello Divorce. You'll see in this episode that a litigator always has the last word, but also asks some amazing questions! Mark Dombroff is a returning guest and aviation expert with more than four decades of experience in aviation practice. He made his first appearance on #LegalTechLIVE episode 31. As you'll see, Mark is a consummate professional with an impressive curriculum vitae, including representing Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. in the landmark Supreme Court case Boyle v. United Technologies, which established the government contractor defense, and in Mounsey v. We are joined by first time co-host, Thomas J. Hamilton, of VP of Strategy and Operations at ROSS Intelligence. Actionable Zoning Regulations with Leila Banijamali, CEO of Symbium - LegalTechLIVE - Episode 071
How do we do justice to this guest? Leila Banijamali is a lawyer, startup founder, singer, former semipro tennis player, with a wide variety of other accomplishments (i.e. explaining computational law complexities in a manner in which Nick Rishwain can understand). We're going to encourage her to add that last item to her bio. Leila and her team have built a proprietary system that allows individual users the ability to search cities or counties (currently San Francisco, Orinda, Redwood City, San Jose, Los Angeles, Fontana, and San Mateo County), to see how their particular property is zoned and determine if they can add an accessory dwelling unit (ADU). There are additional services for the municipalities and businesses as well. You may be interested in opening a coffee shop. Determine the appropriate locations with proper zoning and permitting to open that coffee shop using their "Build for Business" service. Symbium is looking for more cities to participate. So if you're with a planning commission or city planning department, reach them here: https://symbium.com/contact. Really, please give this replay a watch and get to know the fascinating aspects of #computationallaw / #complaw. This is high level #legaltech, and we're just getting started!
