Emma Gannon
Ctrl Alt Delete subverts the traditional career show. Instead, it's for people who are more interested in shaping their work rather than letting their work shape them. The main focus is work, wellbeing and creativity. Hosted by bestselling author Emma Gannon, she has a gentle line of questioning that starts with work, and ends up wherever the conversations lead. Named Best Business podcast by Vuelio, Webby award nominee and named 50 Best Podcasts by Sunday Times, Ctrl Alt Delete is a gateway into new ideas – with past guests varying far and wide including Elizabeth Gilbert, Reni Eddo-Lodge, Jacqueline Wilson, Lena Dunham, Julia Cameron, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, Ava DuVernay, Gillian Anderson and Mrs Hinch. #330 Nick Hornby: Getting Published, Dealing With Rejection
Nick Hornby is the author of many novels, including High Fidelity, About a Boy, Juliet, Naked and others, and now he has a new book Just Like You which I thoroughly enjoyed and is out in paperback. He is also the author of Fever Pitch, a book on his life as a devoted supporter of Arsenal Football Club and many of his books have been turned into iconic films. In 2009 he wrote the screenplay for the film An Education, in (2014) the screenplay for Wild — and in (2015) the screenplay Brooklyn. In this episode we talk about creative advice, thoughts on rejection, being published, why he wanted to write diverse characters in his new novel Just Like You, a book about connecting with each other despite how polarised the world seems to be right now. Thanks for being here, I hope you enjoy our conversation! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

#326 Grace Beverley: Working Hard + Hardly Working
Today’s guest on the podcast is author and entrepreneur Grace Beverley. She was voted London's Young Entrepreneur of the Year and is the founder of sustainable style brand TALA and fitness tech brand Shreddy. By the age of just twenty-three, Grace has been named first in Forbes' 30-under-30, graduated from Oxford University, and has a Sustainable Business accreditation from Harvard Business School. I found her book really interesting, looking into what the working landscape looks like especially to Gen Z and younger millennials, and all the confusing signals on productivity and success we keep being fed especially online. Her book is a close look at how to find your own balance, own definition of success and lots of helpful tips along the way, and business lessons from things going right and wrong for Grace. #322 My OLIVE Book Launch! (Me Interviewed by Ann Friedman)
This episode is a replay of the virtual launch event I did to release my debut novel OLIVE in America in March 2021! OLIVE is my debut novel about a group of four friends, with different ideas and expectations of motherhood. The novel begins with Olive having just broken up with her boyfriend of almost a decade in which he decides he’s ready for kids, and she is not. Her decision to be child-free impacts her friendships too as they navigate their 30s. The wonderful Strand Book Store put on this virtual event for me (one of my absolute favourite bookstores in New York) and one of my favourite multi-hyphenate writers Ann Friedman interviewed me! Ann is a previous Ctrl Alt Delete guest (number #271 if you’re interested). In this conversation we discuss why I wrote OLIVE, why I wanted to write about child-free-by-choice character, my writing process, some of the challenges and my writing inspirations. Hope you enjoy this episode and thanks to everyone who tuned into the event and bought a copy of OLIVE, your support has been incredible. If you’re in the UK, Olive is out in paperback in June.
