David’s going to the dentist for a filling and is pretty anxious about it as he hasn’t been for ages. So it’s an obvious opportunity to document the whole experience on the pod - this is Chatabix after all. Speaking to Joe beforehand, David’s a little high on nerves and distracts himself by singing some old songs and finding out about the hernia operation Joe had years ago. And they continue the chat as David leaves home and drives to the surgery, in spite of some pretty terrible Wi-Fi. Despite David feeling a little bit iffy, he and Joe plough on with today’s show and start off by imagining what Joe would be like as a woman. And they come up with a pretty comprehensive picture actually - looks, clothes, husband, son and a profession too. Joe’s just back from a weekend away camping with Petra and a load of their friends. He’d revealed to David beforehand that he really wasn’t looking forward to the camping side of the trip - especially things like pitching the tent and using the showers and toilets. So David digs in deep on all of the details and relishes every minute of Joe’s tales of discomfort, irritability and complete ineptitude in helping out with practical matters. David stayed at a London hotel last night and is shattered after a late night out in Soho. He’s also feeling very old after being around so many trendy, young London people. But he’s ordered some room service, which Joe reveals he’s never done before - so David wants to know why. It turns out he’s rather more of reluctant to spend money than David had realised.
