Ever been that one person at your table in a restaurant that takes a pass on dessert? Everybody’s ordering salted caramel this and double chocolate that, and they look at you like you have a second nose growing out of the side of your head! “What’s wrong with you!?” But sometimes we have to pass up the attractive things for the best things. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us chart a course for a richer, more fulfilling walk with the Lord, in spite of other things that want our attention. The Best Choice | Jesus Commends Mary

If the gift someone gives you is modest, your expression of thanks can likewise be modest. When the gift is extraordinary, a modern etiquette expert says, “Keep the level of the thank you near the level of kindness you received.” Well today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie takes us to a memorable moment in Jesus’ ministry when gratitude was extended Him at such a generous level, it drew attention and even criticism from the disciples. But Pastor Greg explains that Jesus commended Mary. Listen on harvest.org --- Learn more and subscribe to Harvest updates at harvest.org . Only Jesus! | The Path to Heaven

There’s nothing like driving a wide vehicle on a narrow road to make you sweat. Things get tight ... tight ... tighter still ... and you suck in your breath...! C’mon, like that’s going to make your vehicle thinner. Ever done that? But narrow roads have to be taken seriously. And the Bible describes the narrow road that leads to heaven. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out that there are few who find it . . . it’s only found through a relationship with Christ. Only Jesus! | The Transfiguration

We’ve all seen things we’ll never forget. Maybe we saw Old Faithful in Yellowstone. Or we stood on the rim of the Grand Canyon. Or maybe it was watching our child take their first steps. But nothing on earth could have prepared these certain onlookers for the spectacle they were about to see. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, as Pastor Greg Laurie takes us to the Transfiguration of Jesus, we’ll see it left them speechless. Well, should have left them speechless – but one of them spoke anyway. Lost in Translation | The Source of Happiness

So much of life is determined by our focus. Do we focus on career more than family, or family more than career? Do we focus more on pursuing goals, or enjoying the journey? Some focus on happiness . . . it’s their most important pursuit in life. And yet happiness isn’t found through direct pursuit. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out that happiness comes when we put God before ourselves . . . when His will becomes our will. That’s our cross to bear. Lost in Translation | An Important Question

Pastor Greg Laurie calls his series in the book of Mark The Gospel for Busy People. It’s God’s full plan of salvation, explained and applied to our lives today. And on this edition of A NEW BEGINNING, we hear Jesus explain that full plan of salvation to disciples who were hearing it unfold for the first time. It’s a fascinating discussion where Jesus polls the disciples on perhaps the most significant question of the ages . . . a question that carries eternal consequences. What Jesus Says About Worry and Anxiety | Sunday Message

Do you struggle with worry and anxiety? Pastor Greg Laurie covers what Jesus has to say on the topic as we finish our series, "Sermon on the Mount."  Notes: Matthew 6 “The more we use social media, the less happy we seem to be.” —Alice G. Walton, Senior Editor, Forbes What do people worry about the most? Appearance. When things are good, we worry about when they’ll be bad; and when things are bad, we worry about if they will ever be good again. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus talks about the believer and worry. He tells us why we should not worry and what we should do instead. Read: Matthew 6:25–34 The believer should not worry. “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life.” Matthew 6:25 In other words, “do not have anxiety about the issues of life.” Worry can be a sin! Because worry is a lack of trust in God. Worry is never of any value; it never helps but always hurts! “Worry is a lot like a rocking chair … always moving, but never getting anywhere!” The problem with worry is it’s the interest paid on trouble before it’s due. “The result of worrying about the future is that you are crippling yourself in the present.”—Dr. Martin Lloyd Jones Worry is a lack of trust. “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 The word cast is not the normal word for throwing something; rather, it is a word that signifies a definite act of the will by which we stop worrying about things and let God assume the responsibility for our welfare. If it’s a concern for you, it is also a concern to God! Psalm 139:17 Birds don’t worry. Why should we? Matthew 6:26 Flowers don’t worry. Why should we? Matthew 6:28–29 1 Timothy 4:8–9 Too much emphasis on the physical but neglecting the spiritual. Too much emphasis on the spiritual but neglecting the physical. God takes care of the birds and flowers; He will also take care of you. So, if the greater thing is in His control, leave the lesser to Him as well. Worry does not make life longer; it makes it more miserable. Matthew 6:27 Instead of worry, put God and His Will first in your life. Matthew 6:33 Just as God is concerned about what you will eat and what you will wear, He is also concerned about who you will spend the rest of your life with. Seek first the Kingdom of God! When I put God and His Kingdom first, my life will find its proper balance. Don’t worry, pray! When your knees start knocking, kneel on them. --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org.
