The 7 Love Letters of Jesus to His Church: No More Compromise
Glad you’re along for A New Beginning with Pastor Greg Laurie, featured speaker of the Harvest Crusades. Today, Pastor Greg continues his practical study of Revelation. He’s titled his message The 7 Love Letters of Jesus to His Church. And we’ll pay close attention to the kind of love He’s talking about. This year we are excited to bring back our SoCal Harvest. Why do large-scale, evangelistic crusades still matter after all these years? It’s pretty simple: in a time of division, disharmony, social unrest, and fractional politics, we, now more than ever, need to be together—physically, mentally, emotionally, and yes, spiritually. We need the presence of God in our lives, the only one with a plan, a road map for all of us, RSVP today: harvest.org/socal --- A New Beginning is the daily half-hour program hosted by Greg Laurie, pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Southern California. What If Jesus Sent You an Email? - Getting Back on Track
Back before the four-wheel drive, drivers in rural areas with lots of muddy roads learned one lesson early on: if there’s a muddy hill ahead, the only way to get up and over is to build up your momentum and then keep your foot on the gas. If you stop, you sink . . . and then you’re sunk! Today on A New Beginning, Pastor Greg Laurie brings us similar instruction for our walk with God. Keep our foot on the gas. Don’t slow down. If you’re going forward, you won’t go backward. The 1st Jesus Movement | Sunday Message
How should Christians live in the midst of social upheaval? In a timely message, Pastor Greg Laurie offers encouragement—as well as a blueprint—for countercultural living from the book of Acts. Listen in for the launch of a new series, The Upside Down Life! Notes We are living in a time where right is wrong and wrong is right. Pray for divine intervention. The word revolution not only means “upheaval” and “change;” it also means “turning around” or “rotating.” The death of Jesus was God’s predetermined plan (Acts 2:23–24). “Organized Christianity which fails to make a disturbance is dead.” —G. Campbell Morgan The book of Acts is simply a picture of normal Christianity. The book of Acts is a record of the acts of the Holy Spirit, covering a 30-year period from AD 33–63. The book of Acts was authored by the Holy Spirit, speaking through Dr. Luke. The name Theophilus means, “Lover of God.” 1. Before you can change the world, you must first be changed. The disciple’s greatness was not because of who they were as individuals; it was because God put His hand on them. Jesus did not call these men who became apostles because they were great; they were great because Jesus called them! The word used for appeared refers to the eyeball. Before they could change the world, Jesus needed to change them. Paul said, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1). 2. The church had a job to do, and so do we! “You will be My witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere!” (Acts 1:8). Jesus is not late in returning; there is something He wants from us. 3. We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit to do what God calls us to do. The word power comes from the Greek word “Dunamis.” It’s never too late to be used by God. Scripture Referenced Isaiah 5:20 Acts 17:6 1 Corinthians 1:26–31 1 John 1:1 2 Peter 3:9 --- SoCal Harvest is back at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA. You Da Man!: Reaping What We Sow
If our child takes money out of our wallet when we’ve said no, and later apologizes, we may forgive him. But he still has to pay the money back. And he’s still grounded. And today on A New Beginning, Pastor Greg Laurie points out there are still consequences to our sin, even when we’ve repented, and even when God has forgiven us. Today, a case in point in the Bible. One of Israel’s most celebrated kings sinned. Adultery. Murder. He repented, but still paid a high price for his actions. What I Would Tell My Younger Self | Sunday Message
When trials, anxieties, and tough decisions loom large, sometimes it’s best to hear from a voice of experience. In this Sunday podcast, Pastor Greg Laurie directs a special word of encouragement to young people: God has a plan for your life. Notes Whatever you’re going through, it’s going to be OK. What you go through isn’t meant to destroy you but to develop you. “We comfort with the same comfort we are comforted with.” —2 Corinthians 1:4 You are loved and wanted by more people than you could ever imagine. God’s plan and purpose for you is good! Put God first in your life. Read the Bible every day. “Study to show yourself approved unto God.” —2 Timothy 2:15 Success or failure in the Christian life is determined by how much of the Bible you get into your life on a daily basis and how obedient you are to it. Stop worrying and start praying. Worry can ruin your day, your week, and even your life if you let it. Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength. Give your worries to Jesus Christ. God is in control of your life. Have an attitude of gratitude. Job thanked God, despite his difficulties. Live with honesty and integrity. Character over charisma. “If I take care of my character, God will take care of my reputation.” —D. L. Moody Marry the right person. Find someone Godlier than you. Wedlock should be a padlock. Eight words you should say to your spouse every day: “I’m sorry,” “please forgive me,” and “I love you.” Tell those you love that you love them. Keep short accounts and forgive. Forgiveness is not about absolving the perpetrator; it’s about healing the victim. “Forgiveness isn’t giving in to another person; it’s getting free of that person.” —Frederic Luskin, Director of the Stanford Forgiveness Project Be a nice person. Be an encourager, not a discourager; lift people up, don’t beat them down! Have fun. Be a generous person. Three things we can give to God: Time, talent, and treasure. Take care of your health. Make the right choices. You make your choices, and then your choices make you. Tell others about Jesus, and then disciple them. Spend time with older Godly people. Finish your race well. “Hold the course!” —Pastor Chuck Smith Come to or come back to Jesus right now. Scripture Referenced Jeremiah 29:11 Matthew 6:33 Philippians 4:6–7 1 Peter 5:7 Psalm 101:2 Ephesians 4:32 Ephesians 4:31 1 Timothy 4:8 2 Timothy 2:2 --- SoCal Harvest is back at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA.
