Gary Jubelin On Catching Killers & The Hard Truth Behind Badness // VIDEO.
Gary Jubelin's 30 years in the NSW Police Force were not for the faint hearted. Arguably Australia's most celebrated homicide detective, Gary was responsible for leading the investigations into some of the countries most high profile cases: missing child William Tyrrell, the horrific case of Anita Cobby & the murder of 3 young Indigenous children in Bowraville. His fame made it's way from crime scenes to TV screens as one of the detectives portrayed in the Australian 'Underbelly' series, but it all come at a heavy cost.In 2019 Gary resigned from the force after being stood down over allegations of misconduct. He stands by his decision to record conversations with a person of interest in the William Tyrell case, having made a commitment to William's family that he would do whatever he could to bring them the closure they deserve. Gary was later criminally charged but has no regrets. Taking his passion for crime into life as a reporter & storyteller, Gary is the voice behind the popular true crime podcast 'I Catch killers' & 2 book's (I Catch Killers & Badness). His experience on the other side of crime has opened his eyes to a world in which not everything looks black & white anymore, it's deeper than that. He shares stories on meeting & befriending some of Australia's most notorious cons, what they have taught him about life & the new perspective he has gained as to what fuels crime in the first place. After sitting down with Gary for an incredibly honest & vulnerable conversation, I can honestly say that he is a great human being. A man who dedicated much of his life at great personal cost to bring some of our countries most evil individuals to justice, who now, through his career as a storyteller is using the power of empathy to understand what drives someone to a life of crime & how we can correct their course before it's too late.Be sure to follow Gary & I on socials: (Insta/TikTok) @bradleyjdryburgh & @icatchkillersTo book me for a keynote, check the links below:https://www.saxton.com.au/speakers/bradley-dryburghFollow/Subscribe to the show on your platform of choice, leave a 5 star rating & kind review to help us reach new listeners & uplift others like yourself around the world & share the episode with a mate that would find it valuable!Big love,Brad xx Hosted on Acast. An All Black Legend's Battle With Anxiety & Depression ft. Sir John Kirwan // VIDEO.
At the 1987 Rugby World Cup, All-Blacks legend John Kirwan scored a length of the field try & in turn, he inspired a generation of future all-blacks & rugby greats to follow their own dreams. On the surface, he was the fit & strapping superstar that every young man wanted to be, but below the surface, he was fighting the toughest battle of his life: anxiety & depression. JK talks of his fear for speaking out at that troubling time. The fear that his career would be taken from him, that he would be labelled insane. It all came to a head in August, 1991, when on tour with the AB's in Argentina, he wanted to jump out of a 10-story hotel window. The kind words of a team mate saved JK's life that night.Fast forward several years and JK is now widely recognised as one of ‘the faces’ of depression and anxiety in New Zealand. In 2012, he was knighted for his services to mental health, an honour he strives to live up to every day. He’s the founder of several mental wellbeing organisations including the Sir John Kirwan Foundation, Mitey, and most recently, Groov, a workplace mental wellbeing platform. He’s also the author of All Blacks Don’t Cry: A Story of Hope and Stand By Me: Helping Your Teen Through Tough Times. He is also an incredibly talented keynote speaker, coach & commentator. Bruce Bryan Spent 29 Years In Prison, Wrongfully Convicted Of Murder // VIDEO.
I first heard Bruce Bryan's story on Joe Rogan's podcast in June 2023. I was moved to tears at what this man has endured despite his innocence.Released from Sing Sing Correctional Facility in NY, Bruce was granted clemency & is awaiting full exoneration. How Bruce was wrongfully convicted of such a heinous crime will make your blood boil. How any human could be robbed of 29 precious years yet choose to see it as an opportunity to be better not bitter, will inspire you to embrace the power of perspective in your own life. The reason I was captivated by Bruce Bryan's story was for the very reason that he embraces the notion that 'life comes from us, not at us'. He so beautifully said in our conversation, 'I chose not to become a product of my environment but rather to make my environment a product of me'. I am blessed to say that Bruce & I now consider ourselves mates. It is easy to bond with a friendly soul, who speaks out with an air of wisdom & smile's with a zest for the opportunities of a new life on the other side of his greatest hardship. Now committed to his work alongside his lawyer & great friend Josh Dubin at 'The Perlmutter Centre for Legal Justice', Bruce is a criminal legal reform strategist, mentor & speaker. In arguably the most moving story I have ever shared on this podcast. We discuss: - Bruce's life before & throughout his prison sentence.- The mentors & fellow inmates who inspired Bruce to embrace education, introspection & a meditation practice to transform his life.- The lessons he learnt through his adversity.- Day to day life in prison.- The legal slavery that takes place within correction facilities.- The prison business that thrives on returning inmates.- The links between poverty & crime: how we can make a difference.- Bruce's inspiring message & purpose on the other side of it all. There is a GoFundMe to support Bruce while he finds his feet. Your support would be greatly appreciated: https://gofund.me/a1f61da1Be sure to follow Bruce & I on socials: (Insta/TikTok) @bradleyjdryburgh & @bruce.bryan24 To book me for a keynote, check the link below:https://www.saxton.com.au/speakers/bradley-dryburghFollow/Subscribe to the show on your platform of choice, leave a 5 star rating & kind review to help us reach new listeners & uplift others like yourself around the world & share the episode with a mate that would find it valuable!Big love,Brad xx Hosted on Acast. 36 Half Ironmans In 36 Days ft. Layne Storrier // VIDEO.
Layne Storrier & I first met at Never Lazy Run Club & were instantly mates. Over his first 12k run & a coffee he shared his desire to run 100km by the years end. When I hear his plans, his nickname ‘Layneo insaneo’ started to make a whole lot of sense but as he’s gone on to prove, what’s insane to many is most certainly achievable for the big fella. His next challenge begins on September 1st in which Layneo will tackle 36 Half Ironmans in 36 days. Not only is he doing it to test himself & to hopefully set a world record, but he’s chosen to do it & raise funds for the cause that is close to my heart- Cystic Fibrosis Australia. He is calling the challenge ‘Breaking Barriers for CF’ & I encourage everyone to get behind the great man with messages of support & to help him in his fundraising goal of $100k.
