Six-time Ironman World Champion‘s, Mr. Dave Scott & Mr. Mark Allen - PTO, Collins Cup, Kona Ironman
These days in the sport of Triathlon we love to throw around names like Jan Frodeno, Alistair Brownlee, Javier Gomez as being the greatest of all time, and obviously, they’re all in the conversation.
But, when I rewind the clock there are other names that we need to start throwing into that discussion, Simon Lessing, Scott Molina, Greg Welch, Brad Bevan, Mike Pigg.... and the list goes on.
And then there are two that I look at, that influenced my desire to become a professional Triathlete more than anyone else. And I believe, They have impacted the sport as a whole more than anyone else. They have been on this show separately in episodes 5 and 7. But today I’m joined with both of them on the show together.
What a privilege it is to have Dave Scott sit with me in the studio and Mark Allen call in.
We discuss the Collins Cup from the past week, Ironman Kona – or lack thereof, the sport of Triathlon as a whole, and well, anything and everything. We end with some fun rapid-fire questions.

Our conversation starts a little serious as we discuss Tim's near-fatal Heart attack. We move onto discussing the Collins Cup Triathlon, Kona Ironman, and anything and everything Triathlon.
We conclude with some fun rapid-fire questions.

Emma Pallant-Browne - Ironman 70,3 Champion, Multiple Duathlon World Champion & Ironman 70.3 World Champion medalist
I’m joined in studio by one of the greatest prospects to hit the world of Triathlon, Emma Pallant-Browne.
She was an exceptional runner, she just missed the Great Britain Olympic team for the 1500m & 5km at both Beijing and London Olympics.
In her short time as a professional Triathlete, she has finished 2nd at the Ironman 70.3 World Champions, won two Duathlon World titles, and won 17 Ironman 70.3’s. She has developed her swim and bike to the point she has no weaknesses. And she continues to improve. Her momentum is building.
I have zero doubt, I am speaking with the next great champion of the sport of Triathlon.
I’m honored that she would take time out of her busy schedule to sit and chat with me.
In this episode, Emma describes her journey into the sport of Triathlon from running and how she loves to train hard but loves to race even more. She discusses the importance of her team, specifically her husband Jaryd, and coach Tim Don.
We discuss Sleep and recovery, training, mental strategies and so much more in this one.
We finish with some fast questions at the end of the show... don't miss these... inspiring, fun, and very entertaining.

Flora Duffy - Tokyo Olympic Games Champion, Commonwealth Games Champion, 9 Time World Champion
If you’ve listened to this show, you would have heard me say in the Introduction to each episode – "Success comes to those who endure just one moment longer."
Well, Today’s guest is the epitome of that quote. She has been steadily improving her craft for two decades. Building upon each day, month, and year to reach the very top of the sport – To become the Olympic Champion.
She’s one of the most decorated Triathletes in history:
Now with Olympic Gold in Tokyo, Japan
Commonwealth Gold on the Gold Coast, Australia
And 9 World Titles including:
Two ITU Triathlon World Championships
Two ITU Cross World Championships
And Five Xterra Triathlon World Championships
It hasn’t been all smooth sailing, she’s had setbacks and had to rebuild numerous times, but she keeps getting back up and rebuilding stronger.
She’s been a friend of ours for over 10 years and she’s one of the most down-to-earth champions you could ever spend time with.
She is the first gold medalist for her country of Bermuda.
In this episode, Flora describes what it took to win Gold in Tokyo, the journey to get there, her team, the good times and the bad, and the race itself.
This episode had a little bit of everything... the emotional joy of winning gold, plus the heartache and the delusion that comes with professional sport, and plenty of laughs.
You will leave this episode becoming an even bigger fan of one of the all-time greats of the sport of Triathlon.

Kristian Blummenfelt returns to the show as the Tokyo Olympic Gold medalist
Kristian Blummenfelt was last on the show in episode 14. I said in that episode, that I believe the next generation of Triathletes is here. And I don’t mean to brag, I simply have been so impressed with his preparation and build over the last 10 years... I said in the episode, that I believed he would win the Gold medal in Tokyo.
Since that episode, I’ve had his coach Arild Tveiten episode 69 and his training partner Gustav Iden episode 52 on the show. Between all of them, I listened to what they were doing for preparation for these Games and I was left without a doubt, that they would be ready.
In this episode, Kristian breaks down the race, from the false start all the way through to his incredible surge to victory with just over a kilometer left in the run. He describes his preparation and his mindset going into the Games, and what that medal means to him.
We conclude by discussing what's next. It blew my mind what he has planned.
What a thrill this was to talk to the Olympic Champion 4 days post his race.

Greg, Laura, and Marc Jenkins dissect the Tokyo Olympic Games Triathlons
We’re in the middle of the Olympic Games and if you’re like Laura and me, we find ourselves watching everything we can. Simply watching the highs and lows of sport and the emotions that go with it make you feel alive and connected.
Marc Jenkins is a longtime friend of ours and one of the greatest athletes and coaches that Britain has ever produced. He understands the highs and lows of the Olympics. In 2004, in the Athens Olympics, he was in a bike crash, broke his wheel, and carried his bike on his shoulder as he ran for 2km to get it fixed. He then went on to finish the 10km run. Obviously not the result he had hoped for, but such, was his determination to finish. He then coached his wife Helen to three Olympic Games and multiple world titles.
He lives and breathes the sport of Triathlon much as we do. We thought, who better to bring on to the show, to dissect the Tokyo Olympic Triathlons.
In this episode, we dissect the men's and women's Tokyo Olympic Games Triathlons. We discuss the stand-out performances and give some advice to the athletes that may feel a little flat after their performances. Some great takeaways in this episode.

TRIATHLON GOLD - Special Edition - All of Triathlons male Olympic Gold medalists in one show!
The Olympics are finally here. And if you’re like me, you’ve loved the Olympics since you can remember. I’ve always enjoyed watching the best in the world battle it out on the big stage... none more so than the sport of Triathlon. I’ve always wondered what it takes to win on that special day, and what it must feel like crossing that finish line knowing that you are the Olympic champion, and how does that heavy medal affects the rest of your life?
Well, I decided to get some answers... today I have all of Triathlons men’s gold medalists on the show. Five Gold and one Silver between the four of them. Simon Whitfield, Hamish Carter, Jan Frodeno, and Alistair Brownlee.
Men that I have raced and trained with, men that have conquered the world, and have been heroes to their respective countries. All of them I admire and would call mates, the best men you could ever share a beer with... all-around top blokes.
They’ve all been on the show at least once. You can find their past episodes on your podcast app of choice.
But never have they all been together on the one show. I’m feeling very honored that they have all agreed to come on, and amazed that we were able to coordinate times from all corners of the world.
In this episode, each of the Olympic Champions shares their stories, what they were thinking the days leading into the race? What was going through their head at the pivotal moment of the race? When did they feel like they had it won and what was the initial feeling they each had as they crossed the line knowing they were the Olympic Champion. Jan Frodeno's answer will make you laugh. They each describe how the Gold medal has affected their lives. Their answers may surprise you.
The show concludes with their predictions for these Tokyo Olympic games.
This has to be one of the greatest podcast episodes ever. What a thrill it was for me to chat with all of these champions.

Frank Shorter - Olympic Marathon Champion - "father of the modern running boom"
In this episode of The Greg Bennett Show, I chat with my neighbor, Frank Shorter in Boulder, Colorado
Frank is a remarkable man, who by all accounts is the father of the modern running boom. His Olympic marathon gold in 1972, is generally regarded as the launch of this running movement. He followed this gold medal performance 4 years later at the Montreal Olympics with a silver medal behind an unknown East German who was later documented to be part of that nation’s doping system.
Throughout the 1970s he won a multitude of US National Championships over the 5k, 10k, and marathon distances. He won the ‘Fukuoka International marathon Championship’ on 4 occasions.
But he’s more than a runner and Olympic Champion, he was instrumental in helping athletes make a living from what at the time was mostly amateur. And from 2000 to 2003, he was the chairman of the United States Anti-Doping Agency, a body that he helped to establish.
This was a very special conversation for me. It truly felt like he was chatting with one of the great icons of the world of sport. Frank shares his journey into running and when he realized that he had some ability. He describes the emotions of the terrorist attacks on the 1972 Olympics and how he had to compartmentalize the trauma of what happened and focus on the job at hand. He discusses the running into the stadium at those Games with a 2-minute lead and he shares the 1976 Montreal Games, and his thoughts on drugs in sport, his relationship with USA iconic runner Steve Prefontaine and the impact of his sudden death. And so much more.
If you love sport, if you love sports history then this is a must-listen. Do yourself a favor and listen through to the end. You won't be disappointed.

Alistair Brownlee - Special Edition, Part 2 - Author "Relentless - Secrets of the Sporting Elite", Multiple Olympic Gold medalist and World Champion
In this episode of The Greg Bennett Show, I chat with a very special return guest, Alistair Brownlee.
Alistair is arguably the greatest triathlete of all time… he IS the undisputed greatest Olympic Triathlete in history with Gold in London and Rio Olympic Games.
His World and Olympic titles are remarkable, but it has been his ability to lift the sport to new heights and have every athlete in the world chasing that has truly set him apart. It has been this dominance that has me in awe of this extraordinary athlete.
I encourage you to listen to Part 1 of this conversation first. Also, Alistair was last on the show in episode 15, if you haven’t listened to that episode, I’d encourage you to go check it out.
In part 2 of the episode, Alistair gives his predictions for the Tokyo Olympics and he discusses how the sport of Triathlon has changed. We discuss the dual between Jan Frodeno and Lionel Sanders and he gives his prediction as to who will win. We end with some fun rapid-fire questions.
