One of the most personal and meaningful projects I’ve ever made was my podcast series called The Secret Tapes. It's a series of interviews I did with the people I write about in my book Share Your Stuff. I’ll Go First.  The Secret Tapes were released in January solely to people who preordered SYSIGF.  But now the Secret Tapes are a part of Secret Stuff, the private podcast I launched on Patreon. All eleven episodes of conversation and interviews are available as part of the Secret Stuff membership.  This BONUS episode is a snippet of the Secret Tapes conversation I had with my parents. Now THIS is a topic I've been wanting to cover for a long time. Because whenever I do a social media challenge (like the currently running #OneDayMay) and I encourage people to post a selfie (as I often do), I scroll through tons of posts where women are APOLOGIZING for their self-portrait in the caption. There are many reasons both personal and cultural that we feel extra vulnerable about taking and sharing selfies on social media, but in this episode I’m talking about the three most common reasons I see: We’re unhappy with the way we look We feel like selfies are indulgent, narcissistic, and annoying We don’t mind being in photos, but we wish someone else was taking them I look at selfies from all kinds of angles in this episode, hoping that it leads away from selfie shame and into selfie empowerment. Author Nora Zelevansky is my the very first novelist I've ever had on 10 Things To Tell You! We're discussing her new book (out May 11) Competitive Grieving, a darkly comic novel about the dynamics of friendship following loss. When I first found Kate Kennedy's podcast Be There in Five, I just wanted Taylor Swift analysis. But I stayed for her series on Mommy Bloggers. Then I couldn't get enough of her pop culture commentary, hilarious tangents, and well-researched episodes about everything I wanted to talk about (that other people weren't talking about).  I also texted every podcast friend I have to ask, "Have you seen what Kate Kennedy is doing?"
