Colors of the Dark

While Bekah and Elric are taking a break, we have another DEEP CUTS bonus episode for you! This episode of DEEP CUTS (originally from April 2022) features plenty of wild and weird  titles from all over the globe- Italian Giallos, a Chinese monster movie, Japanese new wave art and hellish aliens, a UK Saw rip-off, a desert haunted house, and 80s gangsters in Long Beach.

While Bekah and Elric take a little break, we thought we would share some old episodes from the Colors of the Dark Patreon show, DEEP CUTS. On the episode of Deep Cuts (from April 2022), the duo dives into the lost horror plot device of prank-calling, Cat 3 Hong Kong horrors, rare 1970s exploitation, 1930s body parts, and even something Divine. 

On Episode 38 of Fangoria’s COLORS OF THE DARK Elric and Bekah discuss new films CHOOSE OR DIE, COUNTDOWN, NIGHTS END, THE CELLAR & ALL MY FRIENDS HATE ME as well as a ton of new series including OUTER RANGE, THE BABY & FROM. The Duo then dive into the Pros and Cons of Horror remakes and countdown their TOP 10 HORROR REMAKES. 

On Episode 37 of Fangoria’s COLORS OF THE DARK Elric and Bekah discuss new films CRABS!, THE BUBBLE, BITCH ASS, LUX AETERNA, VORTEX, WE'RE ALL GOING TO THE WORLD'S FAIR & PIGGY. The duo are then joined by guests Craig Engler & Sam Zimmerman of SHUDDER to go deep into the origins of the company and how they came to work there, how the original films are developed, curation and the future of the horror streamer.  The hosts close out the show with a few choice cuts from the Shudder library for your viewing pleasure. 

On Episode 36 of Fangoria’s COLORS OF THE DARK Elric and Bekah discuss new releases YOU ARE NOT MY MOTHER, WITCH HUNT, THE LONG WALK & BLOOD ORANGES. The duo then discuss a few undisputed classics from the 1960's that influenced the genre before counting down their individual Top Ten Horror Films of the 1960's. From expressionistic art house horror to early slashers this one runs the gamut of horror history. 

On Episode 35 of Fangoria’s COLORS OF THE DARK Elric and Bekah discuss new releases X, THE CURSED, ULTRASOUND, THE SEED, DEADSTREAM & THE EXORCISM OF GOD. The duo then delve into some of their favorite Horror films about filmmaking (not found footage) before sitting down with Director Ti West to discuss his new film X that follows a film crew making an Adult film in 1979 but run into all sorts of horrors. Warning: We highly recommend seeing the X prior to listening to the Interview portion at the end of the episode due to some SPOILERS. 

On Episode 34 of Fangoria’s COLORS OF THE DARK Elric and Bekah discuss new releases NO EXIT, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE '22, ALONE WITH YOU, I BLAME SOCIETY, POLAROID & PARANOIAC. The duo are then joined by filmmaker Mickey Keating to discuss his atmospheric new film OFFSEASON and some of the creepy abandoned town films that inspired it. Lots of great deep cuts from seaside horrors to Lovecraftian nightmares. 

On Episode 33 of Fangoria’s COLORS OF THE DARK Elric and Bekah discuss new releases RESIDENT EVIL: WELCOME TO RACOON CITY, THE FREE FALL, SHUT IN, ALL OF US ARE DEAD & BENEDETTA. The duo are then joined by Brian Collins (Horror Movie a Day) to try and decipher the "continuity" behind the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE franchise in anticipation of the latest installment on netflix. They also delve into their favorite Cannibal movies with a few tasty deep cut recs.
