This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.The apostle Paul said to Timothy, “the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.” (1 Timothy 1:5)The conscience is an inner alert system to keep you from sin and impel you to righteousness. But the conscience is not infallible. We should not claim an inner voice is necessarily from God. All promptings must be examined against God’s word. If you’re not sure, obey your conscience now and then seek a more biblical understanding of the issue. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.  Deuteronomy 6:6-7What are “these words” that are to be on our hearts and taught diligently to our children?  Biblical doctrines—truths about God and how we are to live and worship Him.The truths of salvation, forgiveness, obedience, and loving one’s neighbor, to name just a few, should be taught to children at the earliest ages.  The ungodly world around us is relentlessly trying to capture hearts and minds, especially the young, with lies such as, “there are many paths to God … live for today and yourself … find your own truth.”The seduction is strong, and yet in the face of it, Christian parents are called to raise their children in the “discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4).But how?  How can we teach biblical truths or doctrines to children?  One excellent way is through an animated cartoon series called Theo Presents.  Our guest this weekend on The Christian Worldview is Michael Joens, the creator and director of Theo, a 15-episode animated cartoon series that we highly recommend and are offering to listeners.The production and teaching of biblical doctrines in Theo is of the highest quality and we encourage you to preview and order the series for your children and grandchildren.  You will enjoy and learn too!
