Shannah Shares: 7 Tips To Focusing On Your Money Goals
In this Shannah Shares, Community Q&A episode, I'm sharing the 7 tips to help you stay focused on your money goals inspired by a question form Amanda:"I love your podcast and have been listening for over a year now being inspired and working towards my goals. Maybe my question isn't really a question, but more like a request for a pep talk. I have 4 main money goals that I've been slowly working towards Paying off my student loans, saving 4 months of expenses in my emergency fund, saving $3,000 in a what I like to call an "oh shit fund" (I can access this savings account much quicker than my emergency fund), and finally saving for a house. For the past 6 years, I've been laser-focused on paying off my student loans, but because of the pandemic, I decided to shift my focus on hitting my emergency fund goal. Recently, however, I've been struggling with staying focused on achieving the emergency fund goal. I now have only $9,000 left to go of my student loans and I'm also only 3 months away from hitting my emergency fund goal, but now I'm getting the urge to use basically all of my emergency fund money to pay off my student loans now. I know if I did this, I would feel AWESOME but know I would feel anxious knowing I had no emergency fund to fall back on. Do you have any suggestions for staying focused on one goal before making a rash decision and jumping to another goal? I know these are all good problems to have, but I would really love some words of encouragement or advice on how to stay focused on my current goal. How to Save Money On Everyday Essentials So You Afford Your Money Goals
With inflation, rising gas prices and the higher cost of groceries, saving money on everyday essentials is a necessity. Being financially well off isn’t about earning 50% more in your job, winning the lottery or coming into a ton of cash. It’s the everyday small amounts of money you can save here and there and then routing that towards your expenses and goals. You may remember Jay Klauminzer, CEO from one of my very fav apps Raise, on previous episodes. He’s back on this special episode to talk about creative ways to save money on everyday essentials so you can afford your money goals.Links

Shannah Shares: How Can I Reach My Money Goals When I’m Always Stressed Out
Welcome back to another episode of Shannah Shares Community Q&A. In this episode, I’m answering a listener question from Richard.“Hi Shannah. I feel like I know you but I only know you through my earbuds three times a week. Thanks for this show. Honestly, it’s given me life in a time when I felt so stressed out with money. I’m 41 and to be completely transparent with you I’ve never really learned about money. I’ve just fumbled my way through. I would imagine someone else is listening and agreeing. My parent’s never taught me about money, I didn’t learn it in school and I’ve felt left to figure this all out. I’m doing pretty well as far as salary but I don’t have a lot to show for it at the end of the month. That’s hard to admit. Even though I make 6 figures I’m still living paycheck to paycheck and it’s stressing me the f out. I set all these money goals all the time and then I never reach them. In fact, I just don’t make progress because I feel like I’m full of so much money shame, guilt, and just anxiety. I don’t want to live stressed anymore and I know that is what is in the way of me making progress. You’ve been so great at helping me see how I can’t make good money choices when I’m full of anxiety. Thank you for talking about something that no other money person seems to address. You’ve done so many great episodes around this I’m curious if there’s one that you think I have to listen to ….even listen to again to let the words sink in. I may be your biggest fan because I feel like I have your calming voice to encourage me each week. Thanks again, Richard.”LinksMuseMuse mobile appAriel Garten on LinkedInEpisode SponsorsGet started with Issuu today for FREE or if you sign up for a premium account you will get 50% off when you go to ISSUU.com/mymoney.Shopify is more than a store. Why Is Financial Inclusion Important & How Does It Impact Your Life
Did you know that 30% of the population of the world is still unbanked? Meaning, 30% of the world’s population can’t easily get to a bank, let alone deposit a check, take cash out, or use any of the conveniences that help you pay for your life. And, on top of that 93% of bank closures happen in low-income areas. In this episode, I have an important conversation with Briana Marbury. Briana serves as Executive Director of the Interledger Foundation, which aims to build access to financial pathways around the world. She brings 15 years of non-profit experience and leadership to the role, as well as a passion for promoting financial inclusion for all. She is dedicated to expanding the public’s understanding of how we can use technology’s immense potential to improve lives. You’ll learn what it means to be unbanked, how Briana thinks we can increase access to financial services, what role crypto plays in our society, why financial inclusion is critical for us all, and how her money story was shaped as a young woman who didn’t have many banking options.LinksInterledger FoundationBriana on LinkedInEpisode SponsorsGet started with Issuu today for FREE or if you sign up for a premium account you will get 50% off when you go to ISSUU.com/mymoney.Shopify is more than a store. Shannah Shares: Is My Life Insurance Enough For My Family
On this episode of Shannah Shares, Community Q&A, I'm answering a question from Erica:"Hi Shannah! First off I love your podcast. Your podcast has helped me so much. I learn something new every time I tune in. My question is this. I'm 31 years old with a 2-year-old son which I’m the sole provider for. When he was born I bought a term life insurance policy for 20 or 25 years for 10x my salary. I thought I was thoroughly covered as all the financial advice I get says that’s what you should get to make sure your child is taken care of when you’re gone. Two weeks ago my uncle passed away unexpectedly and I’ve been assisting in planning his funeral. My question is this if you have term life insurance and you live past that then essentially you’re no longer covered and now need some other type of burial policy; what type of insurance or burial policy would you recommend? Should I get that in place now because I’m young with no major health issues or can I wait until the policy I have now expires? I want to not only be sure my son is covered if something happened to me during his childhood but also that I’m not a burden to him in my adulthood. Thanks for your advice and all that you do.
