In this episode, I talk with Auron MacIntyre, host of the Auron MacIntyre Show, about Conquest’s Laws. Robert Conquest was a British-American historian and poet known for his work on the Soviet Union. A long-time research fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, he developed two laws of politics (a third is considered John O’Sullivan’s first law, O’Sullivan being a British conservative political commentator and journalist):Everyone is conservative about what he knows best.Any organization not explicitly right-wing sooner or later becomes left-wing.The simplest way to explain the behavior of any bureaucratic organization is to assume that it is controlled by a cabal of its enemies.Auron and I discuss why these laws matter in politics and how they prove true in a variety of ways. In this episode, I share a talk I gave at a recent conference in April of 2023 at Christ the King Church of Cincinnati. Christ the King has launched King’s Domain as a ministry of their church to help bring biblical truth into the public square. The theme of the conference was “Clear Speech for a Confused Age.” For King’s Domain, this was a conference devoted to helping Christians speak plainly the teachings of the Bible for the glory of God and the good of the world.The talk I delivered was on the topic of winsome third-wayism, a topic which I have discussed several times on this podcast. The talk was given in the style of polemics and I strike a tone which I am sure some might find disruptive, to say the least. On January 17, 2023, Acts 29 removed our church from the network without warning. We had been members in good standing in Acts 29 for 12 years. There was no indication that this action would be taken against our church. It was a unilateral decision made by the board of the network. The removal was announced to us over a call and no written documentation was provided. There is no process of appeal. In this episode, Matt Patrick and I share not just our experience in being removed from the network but also the audio of the phone call where they kicked our church out. We felt burdened to release this audio as lies have been told to prospective Acts 29 churches regarding our removal.
