Yoram offers his perspective on her election and her alignment with a movement like national conservatism. We close out discussing coalition building and partnership with classical liberals who see the rise of woke neo-Marxism as a major problem. Bio - Yoram Hazony, the chairman of the Edmund Burke Foundation and president of the Herzl Institute, is the leading proponent of the National Conservatism movement, which is invigorating the American and European right. 71 - On Laws of Attraction, Being a Servant Leader, and Complementarianism

What is the basis of men, not women, being pastors? How are we to understand the biblical norm of male headship and creational designs of masculinity? In this episode, I dive into a variety of topics related to male leadership and gender differences. There has been much literature produced on the concept of servant leadership as the biblical paradigm for husbands and pastors. But what if it is wrong? I explore the concept of the laws of attraction from Aaron Renn, the Danvers Statement, and an article by James Jordan on Liturgical Man. This episode was inspired by a question on my Patreon page. 70 - American Missionary Trade Surplus

Many young Christians feel a call to ministry, some a call to be a missionary. In this episode, I discuss this popular unction and the culture of American evangelical Christianity that produces it. The missional movement is a self-identified movement within the 21st century. While missional church just claim to be biblical, this is a much used argument made by evangelical to justify their latest pragmatic strategies - such as missional. I question the biblical fidelity of the missional movement and highlight common pitfalls for church planters. This missional movement also creates a heightened desire for Christian to be missionaries. Many young Christians in the church feel pressure to enter ministry or go overseas. Why does this happen? How do we deal with the fallout of missionaries leaving ministry if not the faith all together? Oftentimes the call to ministry is pitched as the most sacrificial thing a Christian can do. In teaching this way, leader often create unbiblical and unrealistic expectations. We need to have a deeper understanding of going to the nations so that we can better understand our calling to our own nation here. Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavis“How Should Christians Speak in Public?” Tim Keller - https://mereorthodoxy.com/how-should-christians-speak-in-public/#post-133708-footnote-1“Negative World Arrives in Australia” Simon Kennedy - https://mereorthodoxy.com/negative-world-australia/Support the showSign up for the Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisFollow Full Proof Theology on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/fullprooftheology/Follow Full Proof Theology on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/fullprooftheology/

69 - Glenn Moots on Magisterial Protestantism and Christian Establishment (Also Baptists)

In this episode, Dr. Glenn Moots and I discuss several related aspects of Christianity and politics. We dive into Moots’s history in the church and academy while exploring his understanding of Christian Reconstructionism. We get into the topic of Christian Nationalism and a state church. We dig into the magisterial protestant perspective on Christianity and politics and what it has to offer us today. What is the relationship of the church and state? What would America look like if Christian Nationalists had their way? What place would Baptists have in a magisterial Protestant nation? 68 - On Russell Moore, the Winsomeness Fundamentalist

In this episode, I explore the cultural engagement model of Russell Moore by describing my appreciation and concern over his approach.  Russell Moore is currently the editor in chief at Christianity Today. He was the director of Christianity Today’s Public Theology Project. Before that, he was the President of Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) of the Southern Baptist Convention. He has also served as the provost and dean at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. The winsomeness strategy of cultural engagement has received widespread criticism for being an insufficient strategy to meet the time. Unfortunately, the critique of the strategy has largely fell on deaf ears to the biggest advocates of the winsome paradigm. I close out this episode showing how much of the winsome witness crowd behaves like fundamentalists. Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisAaron Renn on Tim Keller - https://themasculinist.buzzsprout.com/1330924/6548746-regarding-tim-kellerRussell Moore’s Letter to the SBC Exec. 66 - C. R. Wiley on Contextualizing to a Culture of Death

In this interview with Chris Wiley, we explore the strategy of contextualization. Church planters and Christians in the 20th and 21st centuries have been thinking about contextualization and attempting to use it as a means to reach people with the gospel. It is the normative approach to being “missional” in the American context. While the church has always been a people of mission, carrying God’s gospel message to the ends of the earth, in the mid-20th century many Christian thinkers began to reconsider older approaches to Christian mission. Wiley casts doubt on the usefulness and fruitfulness of this endeavor particularly as it relates to a post-Christian culture of death. He ties contextualization to ideological movements in the 19th Century. Bio from crwiley.com: “C. R. Wiley’s childhood was like something out of a story by Roald Dahl.It was full of vacancies. He was a ward of the state for a time. (Imagine living at the DMV and you have a sense of what that was like.) And he hated the 8th grade so much that he took it twice.Fortunately his imagination filled in what life left out. He drew a lot and actually got pretty good at it.Besides writing for magazines and publishing books he has been a pastor (still is!), a college professor, a commercial real estate investor, a landlord (still that, too!), and a building contractor. He has been happily married for over 30 years and he has three grown children. He resides in the state of Washington. He has written for Touchstone Magazine, Modern Reformation, Sacred Architecture, The Imaginative Conservative, Front Porch Republic, National Review Online, and First Things, among others. His most recent book is, In the House of Tom Bombadil (2021). He is also the author of, The Household and the War for the Cosmos published by Canon Press (2019). His short fiction has appeared in The Mythic Circle (published by the Mythopoeic Society) and elsewhere, and the first book in his young adult fantasy series, The Purloined Boy was published by Canonball Books (2017). He is a board member of the Academy of Philosophy and Letters, as well as New Saint Andrews College.”Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavishttps://crwiley.com/Theology Pugcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-theology-pugcast/id1452933071?ign-mpt=uo%3D4&mt=2“In the House of Tom Bombadil” - https://amzn.to/3S7o95JSupport the showSign up for the Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisFollow Full Proof Theology on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/fullprooftheology/Follow Full Proof Theology on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/fullprooftheology/

65 - Lincoln’s Lyceum Address and the Importance of Passing Down Tradition

In this episode, I offer reflections on Lincoln’s Lyceum Address (also titled The Perpetuation of our Political Institutions) as well as provide a reading of the speech. Lincoln’s Lyceum Address was given in 1838, well before his time of fame as president, to a young men’s association in Illinois. He emphasizes the dangers we face as Americans from mob rule and a general disregard for law. Lincoln reflects upon their unique position in history in relation to the American Revolution and the necessary steps to preserve our political institutions in the future. Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisLincoln’s Lyceum Address - https://teachingamericanhistory.org/document/lyceum-address/Support the showSign up for the Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisFollow Full Proof Theology on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/fullprooftheology/Follow Full Proof Theology on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/fullprooftheology/
