49 - James R. Wood on Winsomeness, Third-Wayism, and Ministry in the Negative World
James R. Wood is the former associate editor at First Things. He is an instructor at Redeemer University (Ancaster, ON). In this episode, Chase Davis and James Wood discuss the kerfuffle over a recent article James released on winsomeness at First Things. James is a former missionary and campus minister. He is also a pastor in the PCA. After participating in several church plants, he has begun to question the biblical fidelity of certain approaches to ministry which are overly concerned with winsomeness. We discuss: Is winsomeness a ministry strategy or just biblical? Why are street preachers wrong in their approach? If you returned as a campus minister in Austin today, how would you do ministry differently than a winsome-only strategy? Why do you suppose so many misconstrued or really didn’t even attempt to engage your argument in your first things article? How can we reach them? Are they too far gone? 43 - Josh Daws on Seeker Sensitive Church Planting, Relational Evangelism, and “Groomer Schools”
Josh Daws it the host of the podcast “The Great Awokening.” Josh grew up in the church and was part of a church plant in North Hollywood after moving to California to pursue his career in filmmaking. In this episode he shares his reflections on seeker sensitive church planting and relational evangelism. We discuss the reason many Christians adopt a relational evangelism strategy and reasons to avoid it. We explore the challenge of ministering to people in our current cultural climate particularly in a secular workplace. Finally, we close out discussing the idea of “grooming” in public schools as it pertains to sexual identity in children. What does a seeker sensitive church prioritize? What is relational evangelism? What does it look like to be a faithful presence? Is that a failed model? What is “grooming” and is it a term that can be used regarding gender and sex ideology in schools?Join my Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisFollow Josh Daws on Twitter - https://twitter.com/JoshDawsThe Great Awokening - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-great-awokening-podcast/id1572538463Thread on Seeker Sensitive planting and evangelical elite - https://twitter.com/JoshDaws/status/1496130105843847171Thread on the problem of relational evangelism - https://twitter.com/JoshDaws/status/1426719212639244290Thread on “grooming” in schools - https://twitter.com/JoshDaws/status/1509560754206392321Support the showSign up for the Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisFollow Full Proof Theology on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/fullprooftheology/Follow Full Proof Theology on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/fullprooftheology/

42 - What Does It Mean to be Human?
One of the biggest questions of our day is: what does it mean to be human? While this question may not seem that important at first glance, once we see how it informs basic assumptions about morality, gender, sexuality, and technology we see how it shapes our world. In this episode I deal with both the Imago Dei as a theological category and human composition. We explore the implications for these categories in the areas of abortion, transgenderism, and virtual church.
