Shut Up and Move On (SUMO) with Paul McGee

Paul McGee, known as the Sumo guy, is a seasoned speaker and author who is based in the UK. McGee's book, "Sumo: Shut Up, Move On," has been a bestseller for over 19 years, resonating with audiences worldwide. In this conversation he shares insights into resilience, personal growth, and effective communication. The Sumo philosophy comprises six core principles focusing on self-improvement, resilience, and effective communication. Concepts like "change your t-shirt" emphasize taking responsibility and avoiding victim mentality. The beach ball analogy underscores the significance of understanding others' perspectives for effective communication. And my favourite "Hippo Time" because there are times where you cant shut up and move on, however be conscious of how much you spend wallowing in the mud.  Paul is in Australia to celebrate his 60th birthday and will be available for speaking engagements. You can connect with him on https://www.thesumoguy.com/  He would be a great addition to any conference line upSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Right to Disconnect -What does it mean for business with Ruveni Kelleher

The right to disconnect will commence on 26 August 2024 for most employers and 26 August 2025 for small businesses. The right to disconnect will become a protected right under the general protections’ regime of the FW Act. This will give your employees the right to refuse to monitor, read or respond to any contact or any attempted contact that is made with them outside of their work hours either from their employer or third party.  This right includes communication such as emails, calls, texts or any other work-related messaging platforms used by the business.  We invited Ruveni Kelleher who is a partner at JWS Lawyers specializing in employment law, to discuss the motivations behind the legislation, its objectives, protections for employees, implications for different industries, and the experiences of other countries with similar laws. More importantly Ruveni shares what businesses need to do now to prepare for the commencement of these changes. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Please stop killing us - Sadhana Smiles

A young women was killed in an unprovoked attack in Perth yesterday (17/3) while walking with her family members. Her name was Melanie Kizenga and she was just 22! Everyone should be able to walk safely in our streets. I wrote this piece last week and sent it to a few of my tribe, who all said I should publish it. It is a call out for the safety of women, for men to step up, for there to be a collective rage on how many women are killed. I dont know what the answers are however I do believe that our voices can be louder than what they are.   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
