And since The Thing (1982) is our most downloaded episode it only made sense that we tackled this entry at some point. Thankfully, Morgan Creek made certain it was sooner rather than later! But just because they provided us with the movie to review doesn’t mean we’re going to hold back. We tell it like it is, both good and bad!So, sit back, pour a glass of whiskey like MacReady, and get ready to have your ears invaded by our breakdown and review of The Thing (2011)!Listen to our review of John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982): Apple / Spotify / WebsiteListen to our interview with Thomas G. DeepStar Six (1989) Review

DeepStar Six (1989) synopsis: “A team of navy personnel stationed at a temporary base at the bottom of the ocean and tasked with setting up nuclear missiles discovers a huge underwater cavern which houses a giant prehistoric creature.”Starring: Greg Evigan, Nancy Everhard, Taurean Blacque, and Miguel FerrerDirector: Sean S. Cunningham1989 was an interesting year. Four underwater themed movies came out over the course of those twelve months (including James Cameron’s The Abyss) and not one of them was successful. In fact, DeepStar Six was the only one to make its budget back! Granted, it cost the least to make at $8mil (compared to Leviathan’s $25mil and The Abyss at $75mil… we don’t have numbers on Lords of the Deep) but it’s still an accolade for Sean S. Cunningham and his incredible team! So, does that mean DeepStar Six was the best of the bunch? Well, not necessarily, but it is better than Leviathan (according to co-host Corey)! BOOM! shots fired lol… let the DeepStar Six vs Leviathan war begin!!We hope you enjoy this lively breakdown and review of Sean S. Cunningham’s DeepStar Six! Vice Squad (1982) Review

Vice Squad (1982) synopsis: “A single mother prostitute, who goes by the name Princess, finds herself forced to work undercover for the police in order to apprehend a homicidal, misogynistic pimp named Ramrod, who will do anything not to get arrested.”Starring: Season Hubley, Gary Swanson, and Wings HauserDirector: Gary ShermanThis week on Podcasting After Dark, co-host Zak shows us the sleazy underbelly of early-80s Hollywood with Gary Sherman’s Vice Squad! Starring Wings Hauser as a maniacal pimp in one of his first (and most terrifying) roles, Vice Squad is an insane rollercoaster ride of a movie that’s packed with fantastic actors turning in powerful performances; some might say too powerful for a movie like this. That’s what you get when you use extremely talented people like Season Hubley!Oh, and Vice Squad also just happens to feature a theme song sung by Wings freakin’ Hauser himself titled, Neon Slime! It’s the perfect cherry on top of a criminally underrated 80s cult classic. We hope you enjoy this lively breakdown and review of Gary Sherman’s Vice Squad! Panic ensues, as shady government scientists try to contain the horrific creature.”Starring: Shawnee Smith, Kevin Dillon, Donovan Leitch Jr., and Joe SenecaDirector: Chuck RussellWriters: Chuck Russell and Frank DarabontThis week on Podcasting After Dark, co-host Corey dives into one of the most traumatic films from his youth, The Blob (1988)! It also happens to be one of the best horror remakes of all time (up there with John Carpenter’s The Thing and David Cronenberg’s The Fly) and the beginning of Frank Darabont’s amazing writing career! Top to bottom, the boys have nothing but love for The Blob, but that doesn’t mean Kevin Dillon’s mullet and insane wardrobe won’t get verbally ripped to shreds by them during the course of this episode lol!We hope you enjoy this lively breakdown and review of Chuck Russel’s The Blob!
