Intruder (1989) Review

Intruder (1989) synopsis: “The overnight stock crew of a local supermarket find themselves being stalked and slashed by a mysterious maniac.”Starring: Elizabeth Cox, Dan Hicks, David Byrnes, and Sam RaimiDirector: Scott SpiegelThis week on Podcasting After Dark, Corey and Zak breakdown and review another fun movie picked by Patreon supporter, Crystal! If you remember back a few months ago she was the one that chose the cult classic, Monster Squad for us to review! Unlike that movie, Corey and Zak have never seen Intruder before now so they have no nostalgic point of reference for it.So, what do the boys think of this obscure slasher flick from the 80s? You’ll have to listen to the episode to find out but needless to say, it’s a wild ride of a film! Is it perfect? Not at all. Does it have great deaths and a zany killer? Frig yes!! Intruder has some awesome effects by the world famous Greg Nicotero and the team at KNB and should be watched just for that fact alone. Thanks again to Crystal for being such a huge supporter of the show! Session 9 (2001) Review

Session 9 (2001) synopsis: “Tensions rise within an asbestos cleaning crew as they work in an abandoned mental hospital with a horrific past that seems to be coming back.”Starring: David Caruso, Peter Mullan, Josh Lucas, and Stephen GevedonDirector: Brad AndersonThis week on Podcasting After Dark, Zak walks us through one of his favorite modern horror films, and the movie he always recommends when someone asks for an “actual scary movie,” Session 9! This is Corey’s first viewing but he does have an odd history with the film, which he explains on-air. That and Zak’s enthusiasm for Session 9 really hyped it up for him, which can sometimes backfire. So, how does Session 9 hold up 20 years later? Spoiler alert: fantastically! Even with all the hype, Corey was truly terrified during his first viewing… and the feeling didn’t diminish on his second viewing either. This is a film that lingers with you long after you’ve seen it and we hope our review will open it up to more people. Night of the Living Dead (1990) Review

Night of the Living Dead (1990) synopsis: “When the unburied dead return to life and seek human victims, seven refugees seek shelter in a house in the Pennsylvanian countryside, but the group is at odds as to how they should deal with the situation.”Starring: Tony Todd, Patricia Tallman, Tom Towles, and Bill MoseleyDirector: Tom SaviniThis week on Podcasting After Dark, Zak and Corey review Tom Savini’s Night of the Living Dead (1990) remake! Co-host Corey saw this movie in the theater when he was twelve years old and he was equal parts terrified and fascinated! It’s also one of the movies he watches every October to get in the Halloween spirit. Needless to say, Corey has a lot of enthusiasm for Night of the Living Dead (1990) as he showruns the breakdown lol! While co-host Zak also saw it in the theater when it originally came out, this version of George Romero’s classic tale didn’t get quite as much replay in his youth. The two perspectives lead the duo down some interesting conversational paths, as per usual on this podcast. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy our review of Night of the Living Dead (1990)!As always, leave a message on Patreon or social media and let us know what you think of the episode!— SUPPORT PODCASTING AFTER DARK —PATREON - Two extra shows a month, including our celebrity interview series, plus videos and other exclusive content!MERCH STORE - We have a fully dedicated merch store at TeePublic with multiple designs and products!INSTAGRAM / FACEBOOK / LETTERBOXD - Follow us on social media for updates and announcements! This podcast is part of the BFOP Network
