Bestselling author Cristi Vlad comes on the Decoding Superhuman podcast for the second time to provide tips on the best and worst ways to get into ketosis. I guess there are many keto movements. I guess anyone can find their place within this keto space Cristi Vlad Who is Cristi Vlad? Cristi is a repeat guest on the Decoding Superhuman podcast. You can find his first episode here. Cristi Vlad holds a master’s degree in civil engineering. He’s self-taught in genomics, nutrition and biochemistry, machine learning, bioinformatics, cybersecurity, and rational thinking. Cristi is the author of seven books including Ketone Power and Periodic Fasting. Cristi Vlad’s utilizes the scientific method in his approach to experiments to limit logical fallacies and remove cognitive bias. He favors science-based medicine, which is actually different from evidence-based medicine. In research, Cristi looks for good evidence and solid arguments to support an ever-changing opinion. No, I’m not married yet. And frankly, before that ring, I hated wearing rings. But I must say the guys at Oura have done a great job. The ring allows me to track all sorts of crazy things about my sleep, including my resting heart rate, my deep sleep stages, my REM sleep, etc, etc. I really enjoy the feedback and allows me to make lifestyle decisions to become a higher performer. Let me give you an example. So prior to getting the ordering, I would fast essentially 16 hours after my last meal. It didn’t matter when that last meal was. However, when I look at my resting heart rate, and how that really correlates to my performance The next day, I know I want my lowest resting heart rate coming as soon as possible after going to sleep because that’s when all my recovery really starts. So what did I do? Well, it allowed me to adjust really when my last meal was before going to bed. So I have my last meal. Now, earlier in the night, I get better sleep, I get higher quality sleep. And I must say the next day feels amazing. So if you want to check out the Oura Ring and if you want to pick one up yourself, go to ouraring.com and plug in the code Boomer and you’ll get $50 off your order or 50 euros, depending on your jurisdiction. The Blueprint for High Performance, Intimacy, and Success in Relationships with Darya Haitoglou
Having enriching, fulfilling relationships is critical when it comes to performance. But the time and attention we invest in our relationships pale in comparison to the focus we give to our work, our hobbies, or even entertainment. The Ketosis Deep Dive with Cristi Vlad
So ketogenesis is the process of creating ketone bodies and mitochondria of liver cells. So that’s where the magic happens primarily. So we are in the mitochondria of liver cells and that’s where ketogenesis occurs… we have three main ketone bodies out of which one is technically not a ketone. So we have Beta hydroxybutyrate, acetoacetate and acetone. Beta hydroxybutyrate is technically not a ketone. It’s a carboxylic acid. Cristi Vlad Who is Cristi Vlad? One of the reasons why I choose to do it quite frequently is for increased focus, increased cognition. The other tool in my toolbox and you guys have heard me say this before for increased cognition and perhaps my favorite nootropic out there is Qualia and Quality is made by a company called Neurohacker Collective which I believe so much in that I’ve invested a significant sum of my money in the company. Qualia is a nootropic and they’ve also come out with a second product called Qualia Mind. But pay attention to this company, folks, because there’s a lot going on and there’s a lot in the pipeline. Whether it’s sleep, stress and a whole bunch of other things, Neurohacker Collective continues to deliver high quality products which improve my focus, my overall sovereignty and my ability to just frankly kick ass. So if you want to try Qualia which is the original formulation or Qualia Mind, go over to Neurohacker Collective’s website, that’s neurohacker.com, plug in the code BOOMER, in case you forgot how to spell my name and you could get 10% off your first month’s order or if you go and subscribe which I do recommend because you want to try this for several months, you may actually want to try for longer use the code BOOMER you’ll get 15% off your subscription. Well first you know what gets measured gets managed and one of the things that I like to measure the most is my sleep. Why? Because sleep correlates so much with my daily performance. For those of you who have listened to the show for a while, relisten to the episode with Chuck Hazzard. You know that I'm a big fan of the Oura Ring. The Oura Ring - I've had it for over a year now and it has completely revolutionized the way I sleep. It influenced habit change. Everything from when I have my last meal to fasting to looking at data from resting heart rate to deep sleep to REM sleep etc. It is my favorite wearable on the market at this moment. And the good news is is that they come out with a new ring. The new ring looks a lot more like a ring and a lot less like a Cracker Jack box toy which I actually enjoy. You can get one right now if you go over to ouraring.com. Use the code BOOMER and right now the guys from Oura are offering either 50 Dollars or 50 Euros off depending on what jurisdiction you're in the purchase of a new ring. So go over. Check it out. Enjoy and remember managing time leads to better performance. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
