#69: Scott H Young - How To Learn Anything Rapidly Through The Science Of Ultralearning

Today on the show we are joined by Scott Young. Scott is a writer, a programmer, traveler and self-experimentalist. In 2012, Scott became known in Interweb circles for famously completing a 4-year MIT undergraduate computer science course in 12 months. All without taking a single class. In one year, Scott successfully managed to complete 33 classes and all of the required classes, all whilst saving himself $100,000’s of dollars worth of debt. In 2014, Scott undertook another extensive self-directed learning project, this time with the focus on languages. Going an entire year without speaking a word of English whilst living around the world, Scott achieved an excellent level in Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese and Korea. Scott’s other aggressive learning projects include learning quantum mechanics and becoming a skilled portrait artist. The progress that he made on all of these projects was insane. So what do all of these crazy projects have in common? The answer, my Freedom Pact family is.. all of these projects are what Scott would define as an Ultralearning project. Ultralearning is the detailed and practical science of learning hard skills at a rapid pace with a high level of effectiveness. The world isn’t the same anymore. 50 years ago, a 4-year degree would guarantee you a great career, now it’s not even a guaranteed foot in the door for a minimum wage position. #68: Dr. Jack Wolfson - The Caveman Approach To Reversing Heart Disease

oday on the show we are joined by Dr Jack Wolfson. Jack is a board-certified cardiologist with more than 17 years of practise under his belt. Jack is now recognised as one of the leading voices into holistic health, natural and preventative heart health care. Having been featured on CNN, Fox and NBC countless times as well as being a best-selling author of the smash hit book The Paleo Cardiologist, Jack has made it his life’s mission to promote an overall approach to wellness. As well as being an in-demand Key-note speaker, Jack has been awarded the top holistic MD award in Phoenix for 5 out of the last 6 years, which is just insane to think about. Jack is certainly not a man who is afraid to speak his mind, and his often hard-hitting opinions have seen him recieve death threats, complaints to his medical board, being banned off of social platforms like Pinterest. However, he feels so strongly about an evolutionary approach to living that he says he’s never felt more empowered to speak his truth. In this episode we cover so so much. We cover Jack’s core philosophy of the caveman approach to holistic living, we delve into sleep, exercise, how modern society is so detrimental to mental health, why Jack goes to sleep at 7:30pm, how modern society is causing erectile dysfunction in young men, and Jack shares his thoughts on naturally reversing heart disease. I highly highly highly recommend you listen to the full thing. #67: Anthony Trucks - Former NFL Player On Living A Life Forged By Fire

Welcome back! So good of you to join us again. Well, there’s a big one today guys. Today on the show, we are joined by former NFL player for the Buccaneers, redskins and steelers, American Ninja Warrior, International keynote speaker, best-selling author and identity coach - Anthony Trucks. I said a while back that there was big things happening around here. Big changes, big name-guests, and I’m sorry I go on about this, but this show is our baby, and to think we’ve gone from voice recording on our phone in a carpark to interviewing NFL players, as well as building up this community of action takers. I couldn’t be any damn prouder. And, stay tuned for what’s to come. Anyway, I digress. The title of Anthony’s book is ‘a life forged by fire.’ ‘’Please tell my children who their father was’’ was the text message that Anthony had sent out at 28 to who his loved ones as he drove around searching for rat poison to take his own life. Throughout Anthony’s life, he has experienced what he defines as ‘’20 life shattering identity shifts’’ that have taken him from being given into a foster care home at 3, beaten and abused as a child, not finding his biological father until he was 21, discovering his wife had an affair, getting divorced, having his playing career in the NFL cut short, it’s safe to say that this man has endured trauma. One of the fascinating things about Anthony, is that he’s endured so much, but yet he always made it through the other side. My question then is ‘’why and how??’’ How does one make it through all of that and prosper, when just one of those pieces of trauma are enough to send others down the precipice. Well, we’re going to find out today. This was a real wide-ranging conversation, from relationships, to the benefit of coaches, to recovering from trauma, to how to like yourself more. It really was a great conversation. Links: AnthonyTrucks.com Sloworgo.co @anthonytrucks - IG / @freedompact - IG Join the conversation: Freedompact@gmail.com

#66: Dr. Anna Yusim - The Art Of Fulfilment

today on the show, we have got a wonderful, thought-provoking and highly-actionable conversation to bring to you to close the week. We are joined by Dr Anna Yusim. Anna is a private psychiatrist located on the upper-east side of Manhattan, and is also a lecturer at Yale Medical school. I could spend an entire podcast listing out all of the awards that Anna has won both as a student and in the field of psychology, but to name just a few Anna was awarded the Golden Award for the top thesis written in the humanities at Stamford, the Glasgow-Rubin award for women leaders at Yale medical school and also the National Institute of mental health outstanding research resident award. Anna is also now a published author, with the release of her brand new book ‘Fulfilled: The Science of spirituality’ which our conversation is largely predicated upon today. In today’s episode we delve into major concepts like fulfilment - what are the commonalities between the most fulfilled lives, how does one become fulfilled, how do we avoid fulfilment decoys, why fulfilment is more of an art than a science, then we look at things like spirituality and the incredible health benefits related to it. Overall, this is a fascinating conversation, and one I hope you guys enjoy. Marianne Williamson once said that she admired those like Dr Anna Yusim, as they are the ones who are leading the charge. Hey Hey! Welcome back - Freedom Pact family! What do you guys think of the new intro? We’ve ben playing around with it lately, we may make some slight changes to it. What do you guys think? Let us know if you like it by emailing us your thoughts - freedompact@gmail.com Anyway, Happy Monday. Today on the show, we are joined by nationally acclaimed journalist Alex Hutchinson. Alex is the best-selling author of the fantastic book - Endure, which looks at expanding the human limits of the body and the mind. The timing of this podcast couldn’t be any better, as I’m sure many of you know that on October 12th Eliud Kipchoge ran the first ever 2-hour marathon. Which we delve into, as well as many other aspects related to self-talk, increasing your cognitive and physical stamina. I’ll give a quick sidetone, as many of you may be listening to these and thinking? Wait Joe, I’m not a runner I don’t care about running. What we discuss in this conversation isn’t specific to running. We discuss how to increase the human potential, and how to overcome the limiting beliefs and mental shackles that our mind plays on us.
