Magdalena Roze's #1 gift to any new mum is so, so simple
This former TV presenter swapped the bright city lights for a quieter existence in Byron Bay, but that doesn’t mean her life is idyllic. Magdalena suffered from a little-known but widely experienced thing called postnatal depletion and it inspired her to get back to basics when it came to many things - but mostly food. She shares why our culture doesn’t give new mums the time and space they need, but also shares the absolute best gift you can give anyone who’s just given birth. And no, it doesn’t involve flowers, bunny-print onesies or even wine. You can find Magdalena on Instagram at @magdalena_roze, and more of her recipes online here. Her new book, Happy & Whole is available to buy now, $25, here. If you’d like to find out more about postnatal depletion and Dr Oscar Serralach, head here. Chris Hemsworth's PT on how to blast that belly fat (or not)
Luke Zocchi knows what it’s like to want to get rid of stubborn belly fat, but even for the Centr coach and Thor’s personal trainer there is no ~one~ exercise, or ~one~ easy diet fix, that can spot reduce. Instead Luke shares how a more holistic - and sustainable - approach to diet and exercise is the answer, and why abs really are made in the kitchen - even for him. The DIY facial trick that costs ZERO dollars
At-home facials have some a long way since your Ten-O-Six toners and Biore pore strips (although, fun). But even with the best skincare products at home, it’s hard to get that post-facial glow that you get from an in-salon treatment. Renowned Sydney facialist Diandra Pilitano dialled in to share her advice for recreating the magic at home, and her biggest tip, surprisingly, costs exactly zero dollars. Something Old/Something New: Kelsey: Frank Body Booty Drops $17.95, at Frank Body Ali: Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Bronzer, in 02 Butta Biscuit, at Sephora and the Fenty Beauty Face Shaping Brush #125, $50 at Sephora You can find Diandra Politano online here, or on Instagram at @diandrapolitano Each Thursday, Body+Soul digital editor Alison Izzo (who, by her own admission, is no beauty expert) and Body+Soul beauty editor Kelsey Ferencak (who, is a bonafide expert with years of experience speaking to experts) get together to try and crack the everyday beauty problems that plague us all. Sjarna Elise Earp on why everybody is a yoga body
Sjarna Elise Earp has an Instagram following that is hard to fathom. 1.6 million people look to her feed for yoga, travel and holistic health inspiration. Sjarna (pronounced See-ar-nah) seems oddly unaffected however by her social media fame, as we found after speaking to her from her on the eve of her first book’s debut, in her childhood home on the central coast of New South Wales. Sjarna makes a case for shrugging off the body-shamers, and finding inner calm on the yoga mat. And according to her, anyone can benefit from yoga… because it’s more about the mind than about the body. You can find Sjarna on Instagram at @sjarnaelise and or online here. You can buy her new book You Will Rise: Seek Soothe and Soar, $32.99, here. You can join the conversation, or drop us a question, via the Healthy-ish Australia Facebook page, here. Spoiler: Why the Bachelorette sisters will never fight over a man
Elly Miles and Becky Miles are making Bachelor history, as the first sister duo to be The Bachelorette. Elly has previous experience of the reality TV franchise (having been a contestant on Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor), but both women were refreshingly open and positive about their recent experience of getting to dish out those roses. And by sound of things, they’re equally loved-up at the end of it. COVID-shmovid! This is the first part of a two-part chat with Elly and Becky, and they open up about the reality of doing this together, how the guys reacted to there being not one but TWO women to impress, and why they’ve still never once fought over a love interest… The 2020 season of The Bachelorette Australia will air on Network TEN on Wednesday the 7th of October at 7.30pm. You can find Elly on Instagram at @ellymiles and Becky on Instagram @happylittlebeckymite, and follow all The Bachelorette fun at @bacheloretteau. Idiot-proof fake tan tips (that you didn't not know)
Nothing feels like summer like getting walking out the door WITHOUT a jacket. Or wearing sandals. Or heck, both even. But baring skin that has been hidden under winter layers for months has its drawbacks. Which is where a good fake tan comes in. Emphasis on the good. Because there’s a lot of bad fake tan out there. Today, Ali drills Kelsey on her pro faux-glow getting tips, and learns a LOT about everything she’s been doing wrong. Each Thursday, Body+Soul digital editor Alison Izzo (who, by her own admission, is no beauty expert) and Body+Soul beauty editor Kelsey Ferencak (who, is a bonafide expert with years of experience speaking to experts) get together to try and crack the everyday beauty problems that plague us all.
