In December of 1941 the Second World War had officially spilled across the Pacific and reached the US. Following the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, the citizens of the US were set on edge by the fear of a Japanese attack on the West Coast of the US mainland. Some would say that fear was affirmed when a secret Japanese submarine surfaced and fired on the city of Ellwood, California on February 23, 1942. The very next night the residents of Los Angeles were witness to what, some would say, was the first ever engagement of a UFO by human military forces. Following a night filled with air raid sirens, spotlights sweeping the night sky, and Anti-Aircraft fire from American ground forces the US military was at a loss as to what had truly been seen that night. Two official reports were released, one implied that it was an enemy spy plane, the other, claiming it was a weather balloon. Multiple witnesses reported that something had been caught in the spotlights above LA that night, something that had seemed unaffected as it weathered the formidable night time barrage. In Late April 1945 the Third Reich’s days were numbered. Key members of the Nazi party including Adolf Hitler himself retreated to the heavily fortified underground facility known as The Führerbunker. It would be here that the World’s most infamous man at the time would end his life, or so official reports claim. According to Hitler’s last will and testament, instead of letting the Soviets defile his body upon capture, his lieutenants were to burn his and Eva Braun’s body and place them in an unassuming shell crater. Fortunately for the Allies, the ruse was ineffective and the Soviets reported recovering Hitler’s body and confirming his identity. Although later it would seem the Soviets walked back their statement and cast doubt as to whether the body they had recovered was actually Adolf Hitler. In Plato’s histories the Greek historian described a city that shined as a beacon of power and technology. A city, so wealthy, it was able to cover it’s walls in brass and gold. It possessed vast military might and a powerful navy which helped it to conquer most of what was the known world at the time. He was speaking, of course, of Atlantis. This mighty nation was said to have been destroyed by the gods nearly overnight by devastating earthquakes and other natural disasters. While it is still hotly debated whether Atlantis was an actual city or perhaps an allegory used by Plato, this has not stopped historians and archaeologists from trying to tease it’s actual location from Plato’s writings. Recently a theory has been put forth that perhaps Atlantis was not swallowed by the sea but now sits in plain sight within the Sahara desert. Unusual geologic formations and tantalizing archaeological tidbits lend weight to this wild theory. The Oracle of Apollo at Delphi, Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce. Soothsayers and fortune tellers of world renown. All made uncanny predictions that have seemed to come true with startling accuracy. In modern times it is difficult for most people to name a source that has given us accurate predictions of the future as those we have gotten in the past. But, is it possible that we could Place Homer Simpson in the ranks of great prognosticators? Currently the longest running scripted show ever to air, The Simpsons have a permanent seat in global pop culture. During its time on the air the show has given the world countless jokes and a number of wild and entertaining plot lines. Recently though, some viewers have begun to remark on the curiously high number of accurate predictions the show has included in their writing. The Apple Watch, Trump for President, The Higgs Boson particle, and many more events of recent times all seem to have been shown to have been included in jokes or plots of the long running comedy show long before they actually came to pass. Off the coast of Nova Scotia sits a small unassuming island named for the tall oak trees that can bee seen even far out at sea. This island is rumored to have been a haven for ne’er do wells during the Golden Age of piracy in the the 1600 and 1700s. The area was sparsely populated in those days and offered an abundance of natural resources for those who may have found respite there from pursuing Naval vessels. On this island In 1795 a group of young men discovered an unusual depression in the ground which seemed too regular to be natural. Inspired by the long standing rumours of buried treasure the young men began digging into what is arguably one of the greatest mysteries of modern times. Many groups have continued the excavation that those young men started in 1795 and each time coming across tantalizing pieces of evidence of what lays at the bottom of what has now come to be called “The Money Pit”. Wooden platforms, coconut fibers, pieces of parchment, and a stone with mysterious symbols are only some of the items which have been uncovered in and around the almost 200 foot deep hole that has been dug on the island. What is left to be found? Ancient Manuscripts? Lost Royal Jewels? Artifacts that could possibly rewrite the history of Western Culture contact with the New World? Cindy James   Cindy James lived in an ordinary suburb of Richmond in Vancouver, British Columbia. A nurse by trade, Cindy lived an unremarkable life while married to her psychologist husband Roy Makepeace. Roy and Cindy separated in 1982 and shortly after began a series of events that would lead to one of Canada’s most mysterious unsolved cases. The following years Cindy alleged she was the target of psychological and at times physical torture by a mysterious assailant. Threatening phone calls, assaults inside her home, and even a case of what was possibly arson eventually cost the Royal Canadian Mounted Police 1 million dollars in resources to investigate. Cindy’s ordeal would eventually lead to the gruesome discovery of her body discovered in a ditch with arms bound behind her, barefoot, miles from her own home. Her death was ruled a suicide.
