Today’s guest is an actor, writer, director, and producer. She is none other than Sarah Wayne Callies, best known for portraying Lori Grimes on AMC’s record-breaking series The Walking Dead. Sarah’s made an unforgettable impression on audiences worldwide by bringing complex and powerful female characters to life on screen. Her appreciation for these dynamic roles began long before she was a series regular on multiple critically acclaimed shows (including Unspeakable, Colony, Prison Break, and her upcoming leading role on NBC’s Council of Dads). Exploring and sharing the female voice has always been important to Sarah—from studying feminism and mythology in college to honoring the guidance of strong women in her family. Sarah’s career, as she says, is a miracle and series of accidents. But as you’ll find out, it’s also a testament to hard work, gratitude (always gratitude), and resourcefulness. Yara Martinez was last seen on Fox's police drama pilot, DEPUTY, from David Ayer, Aquaman writer Will Beall, and eOne. She co-starred opposite Stephen Dorff as his wife, ‘Dr. Paula Reyes’. Martinez can currently be seen starring as ‘Miss Lint’ in Amazon’s highly reviewed reboot of the popular superhero franchise, THE TICK. Based on creator Ben Endlund's favorite comic, the series follows Arthur Everest, an obsessive ex-accountant who suspects his city is controlled by an evil supervillain. The pilot episode quickly became the most watched in the network’s history. Martinez can also be seen starring as ‘Dr. Luisa Alver’ in the CW’s Golden Globe nominated comedy series, JANE THE VIRGIN opposite Gina Rodriguez. The series solidifies Martinez as a fan favorite for her portrayal of the recovering alcoholic who accidentally inseminated the titular ‘Jane’ in the pilot episode. Martinez is currently shooting the last and final season. Yara also recurs on CBS’s BULL playing Michael Weatherly’s lead character, Bull’s, ex wife. Previously, Martinez starred in the second season of HBO’s critically acclaimed TRUE DETECTIVE opposite Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn and in Amazon’s ALPHA HOUSE about four Republican senators sharing the same DC house rental. Additional television credits include THE LYING GAME, NASHVILLE, HOLLYWOOD HEIGHTS, FACELESS, VANISHED, THE APOSTLES, SOUTHLAND, BREAKOUT KINGS, and SPACED. Mireille Enos has quickly risen to the top of a short list of sought after female actors. She is best known for her role as “Karin Lane” opposite Brad Pitt in the blockbuster hit WORLD WAR Z as well as her Golden Globe, Emmy and Critics Choice Award nominations as detective “Sarah Linden” on AMC’s THE KILLING. Enos can currently be seen in the first season of Amazon Studios adaptation of the action-thriller, HANNA, opposite THE KILLING co-star, Joel Kinnaman. The second season of the David Farr created show will premiere on July 3rd in which Enos will reprise her role as ruthless CIA agent ‘Marissa’ In 2019, Enos was seen in the Amazon and BBC six-part series, GOOD OMENS, portraying ‘War,’ one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Joined by Jon Hamm, Michael Sheen and David Tennant, the show is described as equal parts humor, horror, fantasy and drama. In 2016, Enos joined the ranks of Shonda Rhimes’ leading ladies, being cast in the starring role of ABC’s THE CATCH which premiered as part of the famed “Thank God It’s Thursday” (TGIT) lineup and aired for two seasons. Enos’ big break in television came in the form of her supporting role in the HBO drama BIG LOVE from 2007-2010. Impressed by her range and versatility, Enos was cast in a double-role playing twins ‘JoDean and Kathy Marquart,’ which eventually lead to her leading role on the AMC hit show THE KILLING for four seasons beginning in 2011. Enos other television projects include Amazon and Channel 4’s anthology series, PHILIP K. DICK’S ELECTRIC DREAMS, opposite Greg Kinnear and the HBO biographical drama MY DINNER WITH HERVÉ opposite Jamie Dornan and Peter Dinklage, which recounts the life of French Actor Hervé Villechaize. Most recently in film, Enos starred in the Blumhouse produced film, THE LIE, opposite Peter Sarsgaard and Joey King. Written and directed by THE KILLING creator, Venna Sud, the film made its debut at the 2018 Toronto international Film Festival. In 2017, Enos was seen in the thriller NEVER HERE, opposite the late Sam Shepard, in what became his final role. Other film credits include DARK WAS THE NIGHT, the indie feature KATIE SAYS GOODBYE, opposite Olivia Cooke and Jim Belushi, THE CAPTIVE, directed by Atom Egoyan and starring opposite Ryan Reynolds, IF I STAY, based on the best-selling young adult novel and SABOTAGE, directed by David Ayer. In 2013, Enos starred as ‘Karin Lane’ opposite Brad Pitt in Marc Forster’s blockbuster hit WORLD WAR Z. The film was the biggest live action original opening since AVATAR. She also was seen opposite Colin Firth and Reese Witherspoon in the Atom Egoyan directed DEVIL’S KNOT, which premiered at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. Most notably, on stage, Enos starred in the Broadway revival of WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF opposite industry veterans Bill Irwin and Kathleen Turner where she earned herself a Tony nomination for “Best Featured Actress in a Play.” In 2006, Enos joined the original cast as the play transferred to London’s famous West End. Today we chat with Paul Adelstein, from Private Practice, Prison Break, Scandal, and Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce, as he lays out his 30 year career for us, sharing some of the most inspirational, motivational, and insightful stories, and how he’s managed to turn countless challenges into opportunities to win.
