39. GG Allin: Underground Messiah
This week, Team LU discuss the undisputed heavyweight champion of Rock and Roll Debauchery: GG Allin. GG was a filthy, violent, disturbed freak, and the many tales of his extreme actions both on and off stage stand as testament to these facts. He was no one to admire, for sure. But he did record a few rippers tho…

38. Hrolfr Brownbreeches: The Greatest Seaman
This week, the LU Boiz explore the life and times of one of history’s most overlooked figures: The legendary Viking Age Explorer, Warrior, Poet and King, Hrolf Brownbreeches. Through a close examination of the historical record, notably the 12th Century Icelandic Epic Hrolfingr Saga, we hope to shine some light on a guy who just doesn’t get as much attention as he deserves.

37. The Son of Sam, pt. 1: Hello From the Gutters
Hello from the gutters of New York City...
Join us for another American Haunting tale.
In the summer of 1976, a string of killings began in the New York City boroughs of Queens and the Bronx. Despite the modus operandi being similar throughout them, the police did not realize they had a string of serial murders until the following year. By the summer of 1977, the city was completely gripped in fear by these mysterious murders of young people in their cars, and yet nothing in the case made sense as descriptions of the assailants and composite sketches seemed to suggest there were multiple killers stalking the city with a 0.44-caliber revolver. What’s more, the killer(s) began taunting the police and press with cryptic letters, and over time, the killings would grow to resemble other killings across the country.
Was David Berkowitz the Son of Sam, or was he acting with a cult of Satanists stalking the American countryside?

36. Possession, Exorcism, and You
This week, the LU Boys discuss the fascinating, millenia-old phenomenon of Demonic Possession and Exorcism. Since prehistory, man has often found wild, fantastic explanations for every variety of malady, including the notion of the body being infested by malign spirits. However, despite advances in modern medicine and research into mental illness, many people persist in some variation of this belief to the present day. Why, you ask? Well let’s talk about that.

35. The Cursed Bread of Pont-Saint-Esprit
Come with us on a journey out of space and time, into another dimension…
This week, the lads continue their Halloween-special month with another terrifying tale. Join us as we examine the Pont-Saint-Esprit mass psychosis in the small French commune from 1951. Following some unexplained poisoning of the bread in the town, its residents were descended into a week straight from Hell as they began attacking each other, raving about incomprehensible forces assaulting them, and killing themselves through paranoid and bizarre delusional acts. Was this event a rare but historically-precedented case of ergot poisoning, or were there far more sinister forces at play?

34. Vlad Dracula, the Impaler
This week, in our first ghoulish October episode, the LU Boys talk about one of history’s most misunderstood, troubled young men: Vlad III of Wallachia, more famously known as Vlad Tepes, or the Impaler (ooooh I wonder why…). Best remembered in the public eye as a purported inspiration behind the character of Count Dracula, we will dive a bit deeper into the man revered as one of the most important figures in medieval history.

33. The ”Cryptids Suck” Episode
This week, the LU boys discuss a plethora or lesser known cryptids, eschewing the basic ass Loch Ness Monsters and Bigfeet to talk about the really fringe, dumb ones that aren't famous for a reason. If you listen closely you might notice the worst Judas Priest song in here too.

32. The Fall of the Soviet Union feat. Alex Herbert
This week, Evan and Cam sat down with Alex Herbert, PhD candidate in Soviet History and co-host of the Providence Leftist Radio podcast, to discuss the collapse of the Soviet Union. We ended up mostly eschewing our notes and just picking his brain about the period, and it was great. We think you'll agree.
Also, R.I.P. Norm Macdonald.

31. The Curious Case of Frank Olson
In this week’s episode, we kick off a new miniseries called American Haunting about various supernatural, occult, or unresolved mysteries reverberating throughout America in the 20th century with a look at the curious case of Frank Olson, an American military and CIA scientist who was dosed with LSD on a work retreat and died under mysterious circumstances a week later.
And at the top of the episode, we are joined by friend of the pod Matt Heisler to talk about the death of one of our favorite actors, Michael K Williams, and his myriad incredible performances before Matt departs and we start the main story. Matt’s new band Villains just dropped some new music. Follow their Instagram @villainsmediacorp for updates! You can check his new project out here.
