522: Behind The Scenes Of My Work-Life Dance When Life Threw Me A Curveball

Most of us wear a LOT of hats in our life. For me, my hats include mama, wife, CEO… and that’s just for starters!Doing the dance between those roles can be a LOT. (It’s often called a “juggle” for a reason — it can feel like you’ve got a heap of balls in the air, and if you drop one, it might just shatter.)Though there’s a lot of talk in our culture about “work-life balance”, we don’t often get to *see* the behind-the-scenes stuff that goes into navigating all the different areas of life. (I also don’t even love the word ‘balance’ in this context, because very often, it’s *not* balanced, and that’s okay!)So in this episode, I’m getting super real and raw with you, to share how I personally navigated the dance between my roles as mama and CEO during a particularly challenging time.To give you a brief rundown: Nick was away, my daughter got sick, then I got sick too. On top of that, there was a lot going on in my business as well. All up, it was BIG, and hard which needed a lot of surrender, leaning on my village, and feeling my way through it all. Of course, this sort of roller coaster time isn’t unique; SO many women go through similar experiences all the time (and single parents, I bow down to you, you are absolute rockstars!). So I’m sharing this not because my situation was all that unusual, but because there can be so much value in admitting when things are hard, in sharing the reality of life in the trenches, and in showing that everyone struggles sometimes. So here is an unvarnished, honest look at my dance between work-life and mama-life during a recent hard time. If you're in the thick of a tough season or simply want to be prepared for when life throws you a curveball, this episode is for you.Head to www.melissaambrosini.com/522 for the show notes.Join my newsletter: www.melissaambrosini.com/newsletterFollow me on Instagram: @melissaambrosiniGet Time Magic: www.timemagic.me Hosted on Acast. 519: POPULAR EPISODE: 7 Steps To Healing The Mother Wound | Bethany Webster

Do you have limiting beliefs around motherhood and what it means to be a mama? These beliefs could be anything, like — “a good mother needs to put herself last”, or “you should enjoy every moment of motherhood” or even “it’s crucial to get your pre-baby body back quickly”.So many of us have beliefs like this. Sometimes we inherit them from our own mothers, sometimes they’re fed to us from society, and sometimes they get embedded in our brains without us even knowing. To help us explore and dismantle them, I’ve opened up the vault and pulled out one of the most downloaded episodes of the show EVER, with the incredible Bethany Webster.Bethany says this way of thinking stems from the ‘Mother Wound’ — the inherited pain of being a woman in a patriarchal culture. And in today’s episode, she’s guiding us through the process of healing this wound, ditching our dysfunctional coping mechanisms, and expanding our idea of what it means to be a mama.Known as a ‘midwife of the heart’, Bethany Webster is a writer, transformational coach and international speaker. Her work has filled a crucial gap in our understanding of women’s lives by blending cutting-edge research on intergenerational trauma, feminist theory, and psychology to comprehensively define the Mother Wound.Bethany’s insights in this conversation blew me away. I was nodding along like crazy, as she described so perfectly what it’s like to be a woman in this world and how many damaging beliefs we can absorb without even realizing. Whether you are a mama, want to be a mama, have a mama, or just want to understand yourself and the women in your life better, you’ll find veins of gold throughout this podcast, and I can’t wait for you to listen. So if you want to heal your ancestral wounds, actualize your full potential, and redefine your own relationship with motherhood, this conversation is for you.Head to www.melissaambrosini.com/519 for the show notes.Join my newsletter: www.melissaambrosini.com/newsletterFollow me on Instagram: @melissaambrosiniGet Time Magic: www.timemagic.me Hosted on Acast.
