Today on So Money millennial week we have a digital media pioneer and entrepreneur. He, like many of the others this week, is not even 30 yet. In 2014, Bing Chen was featured in Forbes' 30 under 30 in the Hollywood and Entertainment category. Now, Bing has quite the resume. He was once YouTube’s Global Head of Creator Development and Management where he spearheaded most of the platform’s early major acquisitions, development and promotional services, for its now 300 million creative artists globally. Today, he’s the co-founder of Victorious, a new media passion platform and new media content producer. I’m not really sure what that means so I ask him about that. He goes into a deep-dive about what he’s working on today and why it’s going to change the world. We also go back in time. You can tell right off the bat, he is hardwired differently. So, I want to know, what did he want to be when he was younger? Growing up who was his role model? You’re going to be surprised to hear what he has to say. Also we talk about the future of social media. Does YouTube have what it takes to remain the number one video platform? He also reminisces about getting hired by Google. Today I have a family friend on the show, a good friend and college buddy of my brother, Todd. Arteen Arabshahi is here. He recently made Forbes' 30 Under 30 list for 2016 in the Venture Capital category. Arteen is just one of those guys where you just know he’s on to accomplishing big things. I have a friend on the show today, Allison Fishman Task. She's a personal coach. Allison helps people move through life transitions. The majority of clients use Allison’s coaching to significantly change their careers, whether it’s moving up in their current role, starting their own business or finding a new, more meaningful job. I decided to bring an avid listener from the podcast on today's show. He's been writing in, not just praising the show, but he has a really interesting story of his own about getting out of $50,000 worth of student loan debt. His name is Joe Koss. He is an accountant by trade and teaches as an adjunct professor at several colleges and universities on the topic of accounting and personal finance. Joe was once saddled with debt, a lot of it, everything from credit cards to auto and student loans. Most recently he had $50,000 in student loans and he worked to pay that off on time and as quickly as possible. He had about $28,000 left in that student loan figure and it was the biggest push he made to get rid of that in just 14 months. It turns out that teaching personal finance to a bunch of college students is what gave Joe the motivation ultimately to practice what he preached to his students. Some take away from our conversation with Joe. He shares the specific steps he took to get out of that $50,000 in student loans and why he was adamant about it. It wasn’t a very high interest rate, he was on a fixed payment plan. Why be aggressive with the student loans? How he budgets and it’s not very sophisticated but it works and the anonymous donation he gives to his students that’s helping them get a head start in life.
