My Guest Appearance Talking about Mindfulness for Parents on the 'Best Friend Banter' Podcast with Evie + Sarah

Every now and then, I get to play the role of guest on someone else's podcast!   Evie Granville and Sarah Davis host "Best Friend Banter," an engaging, funny, and heartfelt podcast covering just about everything that two best friend moms might talk about together.   Their show really is both entertaining and educational -- especially since they've begun to focus on "modern manners for moms and dads." In fact, I'll be sharing with you my interview with them next week, in which we talk about all kinds of parenting etiquette and kid manners situations -- many of which I guarantee you'v experienced yourself!   But the topic at hand today is "Mindfulness for Parents." And, since this is one of my areas of expertise, Sarah and Evie were curious to pick my brain on what mindfulness is, how parents can fit it in their already-busy schedules, and why they should.   This conversation was a blast to record & I think you'll get a lot out of it!

Dealing with Pregnancy Loss - with Dr. Julie Bindeman

When it comes to parenting, sometimes it seems like people have something to say about everything. Potty training. Sleep. What your kids are or aren't eating. Screen time. Activities. The list goes on and on... And yet, sometimes the things that are the hardest for us to go through end up not being talked about enough. Or -- worse still -- not at all. Pregnancy loss is one of those topics. As the founder and co-director of Integrative Therapy of Greater Washington, psychologist Julie Bindeman, Psy-D, helps parents learn how to manage the multifaceted, emotional experience of losing a pregnancy. And as a mom and a woman who has experienced this herself, she brings the powerful insight of someone who has walked in her clients' shoes. This is a conversation that I hope will be helpful to many, many people, as pregnancy loss is an experience that is much more common than most of us realize -- and it's something that no one should have to manage alone.

Growth Mindset & Grit: Setting Your Child Up For Success - with the Co-Creator of the 'Big Life Journal,' Alexandra Eidens

This is an episode that I've been so excited to finally share with you. Why? Because the topic of this episode is the KEY to showing your child how to find success in life (and, if we're honest, it's the key to you finding it, too!). And it doesn't really matter what your definition of "success" is--whether it's a career, happiness, personal satisfaction. The necessary ingredient in the journey toward success is the right mindset--a Growth Mindset, to be specific. Yes, I fully recognize that it can sound hokey to talk about "mindset" as the solution to any problem. But I'll tell you what--I've decided that helping my own children develop a growth mindset is one of my most important tasks as their parent. There really isn't any statement stronger than that to show you how important this topic is.

Gut Health, Probiotics, Good Bacteria & Your Kids - with 'The Gut Health MD,' Dr. Will Bulsiewicz

You might have noticed -- talking about gut health and good bacteria is all the rage right now. Everywhere you look, you see it: probiotics, probiotics, kombucha, fermented foods, and more... And it's for good reason. We are covered in and contain billions and billions of bacteria. And while we're still only scratching the surface of understanding what they do, it seems that they have a major influence on everything from development and even behavior, to the diseases we get and how we fight them. In essence, our body's normal bacteria play a big part in helping us be us. To help shed some light on all of these nuances, I spoke with Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, who is perhaps best known as 'The Gut Health MD.'
