Understanding Our Sex Drive Helps Us Fight for Purity

This message is the first in a four-part series, “Ruling Over Our Sexuality for God’s Glory,” in which we view male sexual desire through the biblical lens of creation, fall, redemption/restoration. This episode explores the nature of God’s gift to us of a strong sex drive, so that we can celebrate it and fight to rule it for Christ. The Right Kind of Ambition

Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount is a picture of humanity the way God designed it to be. Jesus begins this message with a portrait of eight inner attitudes that portray the attitudes that reign in our hearts when he sets us free from slavery to sin. This message explains the meaning of the fourth beatitude, Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. The ambition that is to preoccupy Christ-followers is conforming our lives in every way to God’s moral law, not to get God to love us more but because he already loves us unconditionally. That hunger and thirst for rightness is to spill over to the world around us, where we must devote ourselves to opposing wrong treatment towards all human beings since they are made in the image of God

Meekness: A Widely Misunderstood Requirement of Christ-followers

Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount is a picture of humanity the way God designed it to be. Jesus begins this message with a portrait of eight inner attitudes that portray the attitudes that reign in our hearts when he sets us free from slavery to sin. The third attitude, covered in this episode, is perhaps the most misunderstood of the Christ-like attitudes, meekness. The true meaning is “power under control.” It is the key to overcoming anger and worry. It is also the heart attitude that God honors by pouring out blessings upon us in this life—for they shall inherit the earth.

Cultivating a Heart Like Jesus Had

Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount is a picture of humanity the way God designed it to be. Jesus begins this message with a portrait of eight inner attitudes that portray the attitudes that reign in our hearts when he sets us free from slavery to sin. The second attitude is mourning. But is Jesus saying that suffering is a good thing? Not at all. But there is a kind of mourning that leads to well being and life. This episode explains this kind of mourning and gives the perspective required to forge this attitude.

The Foundational Requirement for Kingdom Living

Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount is a picture of humanity the way God designed it to be. Jesus begins this message with a portrait of eight inner attitudes that portray the attitudes that reign in our hearts when he sets us free from slavery to sin. The first is being poor in spirit. It is the key to receiving kingdom blessing throughout all of life, not just the requirement for salvation. The great paradox is that those who recognize their spiritual poverty are those who become spiritually rich. How does this work in the everyday life of believers?  That is what this episode examines.

Our Mission Matters Because of Who Is Sending Us

When we ponder who our mission is FOR , it energizes us. Christ is the one who personally calls our name with a mission for us as our creator, designer, master, king, and redeemer. We further saw that our mission is FOR Christ, in that HE is the one who is loved, pleased, honored, and glorified when we are faithful to the mission he gave us.Click here for a link to Gary's most popular book, Got Your Back: Helping Men Forge the Brotherhood Connections They Need  and here for the link to Gary's Website.

Called to Godly Manhood In a Gender-Confused Culture

This is episode #4 in a 6-part series explaining why the podcast can be so beneficial to Christian men. After the podcast launch of episode #1, Who Is This Podcast For?, we began to look at each word in the podcast title. We saw that men are made for MISSION. Then last week we looked at the importance of Staying FOCUSED on that mission. This episode calls Christian men to consider two important reasons we need to show the world, how Christ can empower us to be Christ-like MEN, and then lays out 4 characteristics of manhood as God designed it to be. In a culture in which the #MeToo movement has identified the prevalence of toxic masculinity (self-centered and abusive) we have an unprecedented opportunity to take the message to our culture that Christ is the only one who can fix broken, selfish manhood.
